  1. I don’t know where to begin. That miswrap is throwing my Spidey sense off kilter
  2. From what appears to be a scuff in the upper left front cover and a couple of creases on the right side, I put this at a 9.0. Miles’ popularity makes it worth a slab for a quick flip. Your nails came out lovely, btw.
  3. 8.5 I think the accumulation of small flaws brings this book down from soft corners, light edge wear, light creases, staining and finger bends
  4. I think the front cover right edge brings this down to 8.0; not worth slabbing imo
  5. 3.5 extensive spine wear and that stain on Cap’s sleeve are most evident through the plastic. Maybe lower if the stain goes through the cover and affects any pages
  6. 8.0- w/8.5 potential love Bolland’s artwork
  7. Yes. A lot of those flaws are definitely improvable imo with a good pressing/cleaning. The not so improvable ones are the rust stains and micro tears but even those can be helped enough to give what many call “eye appeal”
  8. 2.0 and with the right cpr, that book can look amazing
  9. 3.0 just watched this video on taping, coincidentally:
  10. I think 8.5 is the best this book will do with a clean and press. The creasing in the corner will still be detectable on the white when inspected through a jeweler’s loupe as “color breaking” along with the spine ticks evident on the front cover
  11. I was leaning at 6.5 but a 7.0 is definitely in the realm of reasonable
  12. I think you’re at 3.5 book still seems structurally sound despite the spine wear with good page quality
  13. was the inner well able to protect the book from any damage?
  14. Really not worth the effort unless you need a book to practice on. The spine wear is there forever, unfortunately.
  15. I can imagine a book like that probably had a dust jacket. If it does and you can find it in the collection, it would probably increase the value and scarcity.
  16. I have my own idea about slabbing anything in the modern/copper eras as the abundance of high grade copies are hardly scarce so most potential buyers can find them cheaper raw. Maybe have a few in case they reach that “grail” status but just because they can be a 9.8 copy of some drek doesn’t mean they belong in a slab. I guess if you’re in it for the profits on a quick flip, ok because the fickle collector is gonna have to have it but long term, once the hoopla over a certain book is over, it was just a waste of money, time and space imho.
  17. Yes. I haven't posted anything new in awhile but I still get inspiration looking through the various threads, seeing the covers to books other boardies have added to their collection. I started off with the traditional "pencil and paper" but was amazed at what's possible using digital in the past few years. The money it's saved me in art supplies has all gone to buying more comic books.
  18. The fact that they’re steaming probably doesn’t help matters either
  19. My introduction to comics was at 3 years old when my oldest brother gave me a copy of X-men #87 and although I couldn’t read yet, the pictures fascinated me and my lifelong journey into artwork began. He would continue to feed what was a voracious appetite by giving me a new comic every few days or so and encouraging me to keep drawing well into my adulthood. That love for the medium has stayed with me now going into my 51st birthday with no signs of stopping anytime soon. I’m still finding new examples of artwork in comics that wow me every day both old and new that will keep me interested and continually seeking them out for years to come, picking up influences here and there that will help my own artwork evolve for years to come. Here’s something I’ve probably posted in the “personal artwork” thread before but still learning and hopefully improving too
