  1. My eldest brother bought me a copy off the rack when I was a wee lad and even though that copy has probably disintegrated into “the snap” like particles by now, the image always remained fresh in my mind over the past 45 years so when I started replacing my collection last year, it was one of the first books I had to find.
  2. Two upgrades of my favorite Kirby covers; still so many to go
  3. Looking through some past purchases, not a bad investment on a possible 4.5 after a cpr
  4. That’s just....I don’t even know what to say anymore
  5. Music to my ears. All kidding aside, this was a book I would try to pick up during my high school days when I first saw the WOLVERROACH issues and had been on my wantlist ever since. I jumped on it last year when it popped up for sale in the g/s/b marketplace here on the boards with no intentions of flipping it but man, it’s tempting reading these posts about how insane some of these prices are getting and with rare books, justifiably so. Either way, I’m happy to be in that elite group to own one but like they say, “everything has it’s price”.
  6. I think I picked up the other half around the end of the summer with a seller accepting my offer. Full fledge member status, baby. Oh, yeah!
  7. That book looks better than some 6.0s I’ve seen. Not sure going off the pics how much difference a c&p will do and to what extent the rusty staple may have affected the inner pages but it appears to be a solid book and definitely worth grading, imo
  8. It’s silver. There was a small surge when the animated JLD movie came out but it still has room to grow if future endeavors are done properly.
  9. A couple of steps closer to completing the X-Men Byrne/Claremont run with 128 being a Mark Jeweler along with a 1st Beast Boy Doom Patrol before it goes nuts like the rest of the hobby and another addition to my slowly growing Fawcett collection
  10. ...and just like that, I found a decent copy to my liking to add to the collection.
  11. Chalk that up to Disney’s marketing strategies. With how they’re handling the movies and tv shows, they’re basically making everything marvel a household word. Meanwhile, DC’s biggest brainstorm is to re-release the Justice League film while the last Harley Quinne, Wonder Woman films and the Bat Woman tv show just want to push “gender politics” that really wouldn’t give a fan the incentive to pick up the comics.
  12. That’s still a desirable book to a lot of collectors and that grade, even on a green label makes it very attractive being more affordable to someone really wanting a copy without the deep pockets and the way the market’s been moving, you’re still looking at a pretty penny
  13. If they weren’t in my storage unit, I’d post pics of the entire 70s Fireside books except for the “Superhero Women”. I could never find a decent copy of that one and eventually gave up on it. I think I even donated a copy of the Incredible Hulk one here on the boards a few years ago during the X-Mas raffle.
  14. It’s an outdoor operation. They set up a bunch of folding tables and their exclusive “Slabbifier” TM on that huge driveway during normal business hours
  15. In South Park.... Professor Chaos, that is. MUAH HA HA HA HA HA!!!
  16. Looks like it just has some light edge wear in a couple of spots but I don’t think it would detract from the grade any more
  17. While some books are stagnant, there are keys that are gaining if you know what to look for. A high grade GL 87 was under $200 a little over a year ago, now a 2.5 goes for that much. Mister Miracle 1 comes to mind along with the other Kirby 4th world stuff. The good thing is that while collectors and speculators are concentrating on that stuff, it makes the lesser known books ripe for the picking.
