    I think the newsstand 5.5 looks the worse of the 2. The damage on the back cover towards the edge is your main problem. The direct edition looks like it might get a bump from a press but nothing significant

    I’m at 9.0 too. Spine and edge wear, mostly evident on the back cover, chipping especially and what appears as a “soft” corner on the lower right front. No need for a press

    You guys can maybe chalk that up to the “blocked ebayer” thread if you’ve used it. It might not weed all of the bad apples out but it surely doesn’t hurt to help avoid the headaches

    That’s the key right there. I stopped buying from them in the late 80s/early 90s for that reason. The majority of books I ordered from their catalog were not in stock and I wound up with a shipment of substitute books

    I’ve been using the plastic, stackable bcw boxes for about a year now for both graded and raw books. I don’t have to worry about a corner getting dinged or something getting caught on the cardboard and tearing a chunk off. I can also wipe them down with a swiffer to keep the dust off of them. Cardboard looks horrible when they get stained. Yeah, I’m a “neat freak”.
