  1. You might want to crack it open anyway, just for peace of mind. If upon inspection you find it to be missing something or trimmed, you can sell it as noted and then find a complete/unrestored copy that’s already passed inspection
  2. Posted 7 hours ago (edited) 8.0 wear on spine, lower right corner ding, what appears to be a small tear on the upper right edge at the end of the blue marvel banner. White pages for page quality. Question: has this book been trimmed to your knowledge? I ask because of the area where Storm’s cape touches the edge. The centering on the cover seems fine from where the spine folds to the front cover and the interior splash looks out of square. Below is an example of the cover with similar centering and you can see the amount of space between the cape and edge for comparison Edited 7 hours ago by B2D327
  3. The black costume became Venom This one will become toilet paper to wipe with

  5. Definitely in the 9.4-9.8 range. A cgc grader will examine it more closely but definitely worth slabbing
  6. Yes. If missing you’d get the same grade under a green label if I’m not mistaken (and have been in the past). However, I have seen other books (missing value stamps IH 180 and 181) get blue labels since it’s become a common defect. May also hold true for the Spidey with a notation on the label. Another boardee may have seen examples or correct me 😊
  7. 4.0 looks like a lot of micro tears along the spine. That and the other creasing add up
  8. I think you’re spot on. Are the Tatooz intact?
  9. I think I could “purple label” that Iron Man into a 7.0...or better
  10. I’m at 4.5 with the color breaks, spine ticks and what appears to be a tape pull around the mid, right front cover edge. Back cover issues add slightly to accumulative flaws. Good page quality though.
  11. 5.0 The edge is common and considered “marvel chipping” and common with silver age books. Cgc takes this flaw into consideration from what I’ve noticed should you get it graded. Page quality is nice too. Your dad left you a great example of that book.
  12. 1.8- 2.0 the tears that go all the way through the book are what really hurt the overall appearance imo. Getting it graded/slabbed will make it a bit more appealing to a potential buyer if you’re looking to sell and will probably get you fmv over an ungraded book
  13. Solid picks, although..... I’ve always liked Jim Lee’s artwork and even picked up some of his influence but his style just looks the same as some of the other artists of his generation like Silvestry, Portacio and dare I even say, Liefeld(?); the only difference being his volume of work (aside from Liefeld’s anatomy thing ) allows him to stand out a bit further in that crowd. I think if Silvestry and Portacio put things out as consistently as Lee or McFarlane, they’d be at the top of some lists too.
  14. My condolences on your loss. Hold on to his gift until you absolutely need to sell it. If enough time goes by, the value (monetarily) will grow exponentially
  15. Spent most (if not all) of 2020 replacing my collection after selling a ton of it off back in 2017. A big portion was purchased at the tail end of last year but these are the stand-outs for this year:
  16. Btw, a nice little “steal of a dea”l; all Canadian price variants that I guess weren’t on anyone else’s radar
