I hear ya. But how bad do you need the money. I say hold out as long as possible. Best wishes
Don't need it at all. I know they are like gold and prob. can get a nice advance within a week from just about any auction house. I guess I am holding out for an Action 1. Which, I'd probably have to sell Tec 1, 27, BM1 and SM1 to acquire. Not sure if that's a good deal.

I'm not asking you to answer me, but things I would be thinking about... What % of your total portfolio does comics make? If it's high, I would consider diversifying.
There are other implications like taxes. I'm not sure where you store them, but are you comfortable with high dollar assets being wherever? .. A bank, your house.. even if insured?
Then there is the emotional side of it. Would you regret the decision knowing you'll never likely replace the Tec 1. Even if you could stomach the cost to replace it, it's not exactly a book you see popping up all over the place.
Would you get as much joy out of whatever else you put the money into?
As strange as this sounds, of all the comics you listed, the Tec 1 would be the book I would want to keep the most. Maybe the Tec27. It's personal preference of course, but I love those pre Batman tecs and #1 is just ridiculously awesome.
I maybe dumped 150k in comics in my lifetime of buying them. Most were purchased in the 90's and early 2000's. They are now worth 750k+, so it's a sizable portion of my investments by accident. They are all in bank storage about a mile away, so that's not an issue. I take them out once a month just to let them breathe. I know Tec 1 would be hard to replace as it's rarer than Tec 27. Only Tec 2 is rarer than Tec 1. If I could sell some and get an Action 1, any grade, I'd probably pull the trigger, but people are saying I am dreaming.
It's nice to have something so rare, but not much enjoyment as I have to keep them in the bank vault due to insurance and value. I used to keep my AF 15 to view and admire, but now that has surpassed 40k in value, it's in the vault. Not bad for a 4.5k investment, but little joy since I really cannot display them.

Keep the Tec27, the Supes 1 and the AF15. Sell the rest.
With those books, you would be able to negotiate a very fair/favorable percentage with Heritage (if you went the Auction House route). And I know some of our resident dealers would love to take those books on consignment.
Maybe that's the route you go (if an auction worries you). Consign them to someone at your "no regrets" price (even if it's high). If they get bought, great. If they don't, back to you they go.
I've not taken a complete inventory of the collection. I need to update the pricing. It's a bit mind-blowing to consider..

If you are in search of greater potential returns, I would sell yesterday and purchase stocks. However, will you be able to stomach the risk of the volatility?
Why not sell some books and diversify? You can have it both ways as it's not a zero sum game.
Certainly considering it..

what are you going to do with the proceeds?
Look for other investments.

Not needing to sell, just wondering if it is wise to consider. Some people know I've been mulling selling some of my collection for years.. Just hard for me to pull the trigger. I also have a full 1 - 30 CGC graded Spider-Man collection. Never would I expect these values on some of these comics. Agreed on the auction houses, but the problem that I will run into with these comics, is the average collectors prob. could not afford these and this takes a huge chunk of potential buyers for the golden age books.

I would sell and buy the best Detective 27 I could find.
Already have one. Never selling that.

If this were reddit, there would be calls for pics or gtfo.
Taking you at your word, to me there are more factors at play here to determine YOUR best course of action.
You don't have to answer these but your age, mortgage status, employment status, and what will be your capital gains on the books.
Personally, there is no way ANY of those books go back to 1990s prices.I've posted my pictures before, so this is immaterial.

Your Detective 1 is restored, or unslabbed? I don't see any 8.5 blue copies on the census.
If I owned a Detective 1 it would stay with me til the grave.

Are you just considering because you don't think the market will hold? Not really sure what the question is here???
Assuming the Tec 1 is Blue Label, I think their estimate of 100k is low.
Dec. 1, SM1, BM1 are restored, the others are all universal. Was going to sell to build up reserves for another investment. Never really planned to sell them, but the prices are nuts now. Just concerned with the changing of people's tastes that comics may change and they'd be worth much less or heaven forbid, nothing.

I've been mulling over selling my Detective Comics # 1 8.5 with an auction house. They're estimating an obscene amount for the comic. I purchased it in the 90's for 10k, they are projecting over 100k for it. Normally, I wouldn't, but with comics so high, I am concerned that the price, over time, will just go back to 10k or below. They also want me to list my Superman # 1 @ 7.5, Batman #1 8.5, Spiderman # 1 @ 9.4 and Amazing Fantasy 15 @ 5, but I am not too keen on selling those.
What would you guys suggest? I've been going back and forth in my mind for years on all of them. I also have others, but these are probably the most coveted. The insurance premiums have been going up as the values continue to climb too.

I would think that would be something you either consign or put in one of their auctions.
Thought the same, but the rep only offered to purchase it at a ridiculous price. Prob. either post the high end CGCs here or send it over to the place I cannot stand; Heritage (bunch of liars). There's also comiclink. Ross thought it would sell close to 15k few months ago. I may reach out to them.

Tried to message MyComicShop and wanted to sell/list Amazing Spider-Man #2 CGC 7.0. They offered me less than half the actual value. Strange.
Still fighting with eBay and have officially filed a complaint with USPS. Will continue to post on my battle with eBay and the POS user; which I'll also post his/her username too. Just waiting for the case to be closed one way or another.

Yes, this is what I am doing today. Unreal the whole experience. Years ago, there were so many online auction sites. Now, basically one. Sucks.

Did you insure the package? Should be able to get your money back.
Yes, I did. However, it shows a delivered, so I am not sure how I can legally file a claim with the USPS.

Do you have the buyers ID so we can block him?
Seems like a new buyer with a "0" rating. Yet, they took this POS claim over a seller with over 20k in sales this year. Makes sense (not). Not sure if I am allowed to post his user ID.

Considering selling my Detective Comics # 1 8.5
in Comics General

I sent them like 20 WATA games to sell and was in the agreement not to list at the same time. They listed them all at the same time and since they were a lot of dupes, it depressed the value. The POS who handled the transaction said too bad. I found out one buyer bought all of them and sold them one by one on ebay. I hate that #*#&$) company. I've received calls from them in the past since they know my collection. I think my last words to one of them was drop dead.
I wonder, is there like a 1031 exchange for comics and other investments?
