  1. They don't post in this thread about their outlier sales of comics that are not heating up by any reasonable definition. He brings the scrutiny upon himself. Why don't you just go count your money and continue not caring about comics? Lazyboy couldn't sell beef in the lion's den. No one cares more about comics than I do. Count money? Get a real job. Seriously? "They", "their" = other comic sellers on eBay "He", "himself" = divad "you" = Kevin76, who has made numerous comments in the past (in this thread alone) about only caring about comics as far as how much money he can get by selling them AND is the poster I was replying to at the time I wouldn't say you (divad, whose post I am currently replying to) don't care about comics, regardless of your other faults... like lack of reading comprehension, for example. What's so bad about that? What do you want to me to do? Care about the quality of the artwork and ooo and ahh at the writing? After being in comics on and off for the past 26 years, I'm past that.

I guess Lazyboy is into poverty, I'm not

Why don't you just go count your money and continue not caring about comics? So just use the ignore button like I'm going to use on you! Of course I care about comics, I care weather the book comes back a 9.6 or a 9.8, I can't make anything off of it if it comes back 9.6 ha
  4. #FreeDivad You guys act like he should be hanged and burned at the stake! This isn't Comic-Keys we are talking about here. If you don't like Divad's grading or any other seller's grading then don't buy from him, Blasting him on here and calling him out on every little thing he does is absurd. You guys aren't protecting the integrity of the comic book community, you're making it look bad. Shall we blast Superworld, Comiclink, Harley Yee and Greg Reese on here when we see them make a mistake or over grade a book on eBay? What makes Divad and different than any other comic seller on eBay? Favoritism?
  5. the majority of books sold on ebay don't have scans, and even if they do they are stock, so no that isn't rule #1 Actually, if you want them to sell (and not play the endless return game), it is. I've sold a ton of books with HQ scans, front and back. I don't get returns. Darkstar I think is just following the rest of the clueless ebay selling crowd, MCS uses stock images since they list books by the thousands, but he's right, it is Rule #2, Not Rule #1 Rules #1 is to use the correct keywords in your title
  6. Rule #1 to get people to spend money on raw books...Actually use a scanner and not a cellphone to take pictures. Slabs included.
  7. I've pretty much have given up on Apple, even my iPhone is starting to annoy me, Can't get rid of the iCloud account and the pop up is making me go insane since it keeps asking for a password for a deleted email address I can't remember the password for. Apple for anything business related just doesn't want to happen...Last time I spend $1800 on a Macbook pro that died after 4 years. Sure it makes browsing the web a breeze and makes pictures/video look great, but that's about it. Overpriced.
  8. Yes... but... - the exact ratios have never been known. - it's not clear if CGC gets the identification correct*. * there are numerous cases where CGC has misidentified various Valiant gold variants which are clearly gold. It's hard to believe they would be good at identifying glossy vs. not-as-glossy but otherwise-identical. The paper stock is different, it feels like sandpaper. I know, I have one that came back 9.8 There's a difference. Whether CGC consistently knows the difference is in question. They often mislabel books where there is a variation... no matter how obvious. For example, this is not a gold edition. It is a literally worthless (9.2 is below average for this $1 book) common version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131570773359 If anything, it sounds like you have no idea you know the difference cause you never held one in your hand before, and you call yourself a valiantman I don't have any doubt that I can tell the difference (and if you think I never held one you're ridiculous). I'm saying that I'm not confident that CGC will get the labeling correct every time, due to known errors like the worthless Bloodshot #0 that they labeled as "Gold Edition". First and only CGC 10.0 Rai #0. labels can alway be corrected, if you don't have any confidence in thier labeling, how can you be sure your 10.0 is really a 10.0? Might have been mislabeled instead of a 9.8 or 9.9

  10. With the current market prices on the Silver Age books, I'd say it's almost all heating up

  12. That's a pretty ignorant take on Stan Lee's writing. Without Stan Lee spearheading the 60's, who knows what the comicbook landscape will looks like right now. He is definitely not Kirkman, Johns, nor Bendis but he sure did paved the way for today's greats. I'd rather read Stan than any of those three, every day of the week. Especially Bendis. My god. Bendis's dialogue is really cheesy, Least Stan Lee's dialogue tried to make his dramatic
  13. He knows it was terrible but he was told he had to write stories so that children and adults with low IQs could understand and read them. They were never intended to be written they way they are now. If you worked in comics or read comics back when Stan Lee was writing, you were looked down upon by your peers.
  14. My brother pulled this book out of a box at the Boston Comic Con, it was super sharp. He asked the guy how much it is? He said "You know actually I'm going to wait until it's a $50 book, I'm not gonna sell it, 1st Oracle" My bro said That would be Suicide Squad 23" We both left and went to another table haha screw that guy
  15. Sideshow should make a Tom Brady statue
  16. What's funny is that Sue Storm in the movie carries the same name as Johnny Storm in the movie and he's black! Can blame Fox for that one! I hope this movie bombs so the rights will revert back to Marvel.
  17. I need that Rai #0. This guy has been lonely too long: That's kind of a cool error. Archer & Armstrong 0 It's not an error, it looks like the pressman was washing a blanket or plate while the press was running, sometimes those copies make it to the skid and don't get thrown out like they should. Rai #0 Looks like there is too much black ink in the rollers or not enough water to clean up the black plate. In this case, the press operator either lowers the ink keys on the console or brings up the water or both.
  18. Nor is pressing or micro-trimming, but that hasn't stopped anyone. Point is, it's not necessarily just a hobby to everyone. I wonder at what point will pressing become frowned upon? To me it is restoration. I have several books that would be incredible if pressed but it just feels like restoration (and honestly I'm scared to take the chance and accidentally getting the book ruined). Will there be any long term issues from pressing? (I've been told that there are chemicals involved in the process). In other collectible hobbies that I'm involved in, such as vintage Star Wars toys, some people use lighter fluid to remove price stickers. I'm on the side that believes this could end up with some negative side effects down the road (and that using a flamable liquid on your cardback is a terrible idea all around). Like you said, it's not just a hobby to everyone. So some who seek profit will do whatever it takes to maximize their return. But will this all come around and change things later, when there's fewer virgin books in the decent grades? (because so many people want to do whatever it takes to bump them up a point) I guess a majority of the Mile High Collection is restored too... Pressure is pressure no matter if it was intentional or not.
  19. I have a Rai 0 coming back a 9.8 that states "Glossy Version" It feels like 3000 grit sandpaper, It's also perfectly centered
  20. This came back a 9.8, best $50 I ever spent
  21. Both of these auctions are mine. The one that went for $124 was a bidding war, I just got kinda lucky that day, a week later I listed the 2nd copy I had. I just relisted the same auction, and hit a bad day, it should have done better. Just glad I didn't list my 9.8
