  1. Wolverine ain't exactly PG-13 either (at least not in the comics) I am personally glad that the miscast Jackman is finally hanging it up. I hope the next cinematic Wolverine is down and dirty and feral and snarling and not the borderline Boy Scout Abercrombie & Fitch model version that Jackman has given us. There are way too many high grade copies of NM 98 for it to be "the next Hulk 181" price wise, but I don't ever see the book selling for less than $700 no matter how many copies are on the census. Deadpool is a solid B list character now (with the only real A listers being Bats, Supes, your friendly neighborhood Spider, and Wolvie just one half tick below those three on the A team). -J. Again, doesn't matter how many copies are out there, plently of HG copies of Hulk 181 as well. Hasn't slowed down demand. Rare doesn't = in demand every time as much as we'd all like to think so. I've read countless posts of people saying "That's a tough book" Doesn't matter if they are the only ones who want it. Hardly anyone is walking up to dealers at shows in doves saying "hey I'm looking for Superboy 68" It's always "got a NM 98, BA 12, Hulk 181 or a ASM 300?" Still not enough copies to go around.
  2. I'm sure you can find something else to spend $3-400 on than an itchy & scratchy 1 9.9
  3. It really depends if the demand on this book increases, This could turn out to be the next Hulk 181 in 20 years.
  4. People keep criticizing Wonder Woman as being too thin, She was given her powers, is she supposed to look like a 6 foot professional wrestler? People need to get off the Linda Carter bandwagon, the TV show was terrible. Maybe Superman is too thin too, his strength doesn't match his size.
  5. Don't believe this is anywhere near correct unless you are assuming that all sellers, including your average and Jane, which nobody has ever heard of must then have the same brand recognition and market reach as Heritage. Even Schmell himself went through HA when it came time to auction off his multi-million dollar Marvel SA personal collection, even though he has his own industry recognized auction site. So, there must be a reason why consignors are willing to pay the 800-lb gorilla. It is extremely likely that Schmell negotiated a better rate on that consignment. I don't watch the auctions as close as many but I don't think that HA on average gets 16.5% higher (10% seller + 19.5% buyer - Clink/CC 10-13%) prices than other venues do they? Of course Schmell would be able to negotiate a better rate. But not down to 0% which jaybuck is referring to when he says that the seller is losing all 19.5%. Or are you implying that collectors would not have a problem with throwing down half million dollars bids on eBay to a no-name seller which they have probably never hear of. If this was the case, why wouldn't Schmell have auction off his personal collection on his own website at an 0% cost. He can get more bids and eyes on it this way. Exactly, He can reach a bigger audience with deeper pockets by going through HA than he could with his own site.
  6. No way would I spend $3500 on this book simply cause it's a cool cover, much rather have some early Marvel/DC silver age instead.
  7. He doesn't look that way in the comics!
  8. Advice: Don't watch Avengers Infinity War Part 1 or 2 or Cap 3 Better yet, just stop watching movies all together
  9. I think the problem is that people here are comparing it to the animated series and you can't.
  10. I agree, I was part of the disparaging on the 9.4 AF 15. My only thoughts would be that being critical on NMish books should be expected, but mid-grade should suffer less scrutiny given the range of defects that can be included. Looks like a 7.0-7.5 to me. Looks like a VG+ to me
  11. That Captain Marvel is really striking! SS did a great job on her
  12. I have a 5.0 BB 28 but i'll take that book in any grade weather or not I like the assigned grade, why? cause it's a BB 28!
  13. Nice color on the book, but that bottom right corner will likely keep the prices tame. How it scored a 7.5 with a small color breaking crease in the top right corner and three longer ones across the bottom right does not make sense to me, but if I can get that grading team on all of my submissions I will gladly take them! It's a 7.5 because of those defects, but no one ever thinks of that! It's always "How can it be a 7.0 if it has this? How can it be a 9.0 with this? CGC doesn't grade based on eye appeal alone...as much as you all want them to.
  14. Yup, it's all about what the market will bear. SS will say "oh our cost have risen" It's BS. SS is seeing how far they can push it but is doing it a little at a time. Collectors see XM only makes 500-800 of each statue and collectors are so fixated on ES, they will gladly shell out whatever asking price XM is asking cause "XM is Quality" I haven't seen anything XM has done yet that has impressed me other than Thanos. SS still has the better sculpters. I buy these cause I like them, I couldn't care less about ES or how much I can get for it on ebay.
  15. You can't, Just try and do the best you can with it, the sides will be cut off a bit or just take a picture of it with a camera
  16. Threw in the towel and ordered the ASM Ex....gotta have Spidey!
  17. Wish they would make a Zatanna, Would look great with Wonder Woman and Batgirl very much like the Brave And The Bold 33 cover
  18. 450K still too weak for a 9.4, I wouldn't let it go for less than 800K, Hey if that's too much, then the buyer can have fun trying to find another for sale 9.6's are over a million.
  19. Speaking of tough ones to find: Nintendo Comics System Valiant! 51 watchers! It's the 2nd most watched CGC Graded comic on eBay right now. Unfreaking-believable. I'm watching it because it seems like the cool thing to do. Neither of the above comics are CGC graded. Here's the one I was talking about. It doesn`t surprise me at all. Nintendo was the Marvel of the 1960s in the 1980s to that generation. Great franchises started here Mario,Zelda, and Metroid. A pretty great trio of franchises that can compare in popularity to Spider-Man,Hulk and Fantastic Four. That audience from the mid 1980s to earlier 1990s has grown up and is nostalgic for their heroes. That NN (Preview) book is an absolute PITA to find. I've bought every copy I have ever found (two). When I talked to Bob Layton a few years ago he told me that the Nintendo franchise almost bankrupted Valiant before they did a single Superhero book. Jim I found one, it's really HG.
  20. So should I pull my copies of #40, #42, #51, #52, #58, and #61? I have them somewhere. The #40 is tough, because the printer roller smeared a great deal of the run on the center of the spine. I don't know when/if Totleben is going to be around next, and I kinda don't want to get just his sig, if I can't get Bissette's and Veitch's as well. I need: #42 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Swamp-Thing-42-CGC-Graded-9-8-Alan-Moore-DC-Comics-1985-/171944848702?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT Thanks, but that copy is fairly well overpriced. What do you want to pay? $10 for a 9.8? Here's the cold, hard reality about these books: they have no value, even as a 9.8. At least until Swamp Thing movie comes around based on the Alan Moore run that is.

  22. If everything was painted black, it would make everything else pop
  23. I think so. No, it's not time to grade books like that, He's only saying that because he can't make up his mind weather or not it's a 9.4 or a 9.6. The system we have in place now isn't broken, some just misunderstand it.
