Got this today, such a hard book to find.

But the art was horrendous. This is from memory I haven't read it in a long time. I pulled out a copy today and concur with your assessment of the artwork. It was brutal - looked like chicken scratching in some of the panels. Everything else is done correctly though, despite the chicken scratch art style, which is why he draws comics for a living and you don't ~

That's an amazing cover! Wish they would do more covers like that, nowadays every cover is boring with everyone standing around in a group shot or is just plain boring.

DD 1 is a cool book but it's pretty common.

I don't know what you people expect the joker to look like on film, Everything Hollywood throws at the audience, people don't seem to like. What should he look like? Exactly like the silver age comic version? Would probably look cheesy if they did that.

Unfortunately raw copies aren't moving at the same rate I've been buying as many copies of this book (and the rest of the series) since the beginning of the year and still haven't found a solid 9.8 I suspect that at the beginning of the year was already a bit too late, I would imagine that most speculators held or sent all their 9.8 raws by then.. Just have to look harder. They are out there. Not everyone slabs books, Most dealers at small shows don't even have a paypal account, but yet they have all these nice books

DC silver is really going to explode and it's starting already. I'm just wondering if they;ll be as popular as the Marvel books

I thought it looked great, not crazy about Jimmy Olsen as a black man, but they only throw that in there so people won't complain about an all white cast. I think the show will be a big hit.

Maybe Suicide Squad should be thought of as a campy comedy? If we think of it as a campy comedy like Batman Adam West 1966 than my perception might change. Campy is a good word I love the actress playing Harley Quinn, but I don't love her in this role. I think they should have went with someone less established. I can't see her doing HQ in my mind yet, but then again Ben is Batman so It's a great choice. People were freaking out when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman, people saying "OMG, Mr. Mom is Batman? Same thing when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker, people were saying "Why him??? Nolan said "Cause he's fearless"

Except CBCS white-pagers, which outperform CGC C/OWs. CGC has too much of a foothold on the market, they know this which is why you have to pay for every little thing when submitting to them ($5 just to do an additional invoice?, really CGC?) They are hard to compete with but if anyone can do it, it would be CBCS. They are still too new though and there isn't enough of their slabs out in the wild yet. It'll take a good 5 years before they'll be a big enough threat to CGC.

We're already at that $ / gradepoint category at CGC 7.5 and above. (and that's just the GPA sales) I think it's reasonable to think that trend will continue across the board as things evolve. Have seen 6.0 sell for $11.5k and $11k - which is dangerously close to $2k/point. Know of at least one 5.5 that sold for over $8k. The question becomes when will GPA catch-up....because that is when larger market pricing will react/become accepted. GPA is fairly useless, they'll record 1 recent sale and then compare it to another sale at another time in the past. So if someone out of the clear blue paid a million dollars for a 6.0, does that mean the new going price for a 6.0 is now a million? No.

You should wait until later when the price has doubled.

It probably works on film. The Avengers costumes probably look cheesy with them in a line up but looks great once they are all on screen in the film. Just have to wait until the movie comes out to judge. The costume doesn't make the movie.

Nah, the way CGC over charges for grading silver age books now, it's not worth it, easier to just buy it graded. Not spending 3% of FMV to have it regraded and risk having it come back the same grade or lower.

Yeah, I wanted the 5.5 but I didn't want the cream pages and the 6.0 was getting out of my price range but was tempting. I settled on the 5.0 with OW from Joey instead. Looks good next to my AF 15.
