  1. Now THAT'S getting old school! Its still funny after all these years!
  2. That's not what your listing said. You are purposefully deceiving people. I wonder if you've always been this way and I jus never noticed it. I used to think you were a boardie with integrity. Now I don't see any. Purposefully overgrazing and now outright lying. He did something similar with his Alpha Flight #17 sale. Described it as "First appearance of Big Hero Six" in big bold copy, and then formatted less prominently in the paragraph following it "by their creators," as if the first work by a creative team that's not an actual first appearance is something that collectors care about. Clearly intended to deceive people into thinking that it was the first appearance of Big Hero Six. Most people know what they are buying, you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. You can't do anything about who writes what on their auctions, the buyer needs to understand what they are buying. It really has no effect on you on, so why not just worry about yourself? I'm not in Divad's corner since i've had beef with him in the past but people on here are splitting hairs on his product descriptions about what is "exactly correct to a tee" needs to stop, try going outside for a walk, get some exercise since I know most of you people could use it. Maybe the buyer should be cognizant of what they're buying, but that doesn't absolve his responsibility. How would you feel if a parent or relative of yours got fleeced from a greasy salesman? What he's doing is dishonest, plain and simple. Again, it doesn't relate to you. eBay does have a return policy and even some sellers don't know everything. I think you guys are just tired of seeing him post his auction results in the thread, well...I'm tired of reading off topic nonsense like this in the thread. Maybe you should call the eBay police and tell them you don't agree with his comic descriptions, besides, most people don't even read them anyway, they just hit the BIN/Bid button. If the buyer buys it and is happy with it, then who is he hurting? You? The collector sitting on his over weight rear end at the comic store playing magic cards with teenagers? The guy down the street? Ever think the buyer knows and actually wants the issue? Maybe he's trying to put an Alpha Flight run together? Maybe he's trying to grab all the Big Hero 6 appearances...You're not the buyer and you're not a mind reader and that goes for anyone complaining about someone's auction trying to sell a book, you don't know the buyer's intent. Plain and simple. And to answer your question about my parents or one of my relatives being taken advantage of "greasy salesman" I'd laugh at them for being so stupid and not doing your research beforehand. I work in the trading division of an investment firm of 39 billion AUM, I couldn't care less about a guy making $10-15 on a comic book. What's he doing is sleazy, if you want to hang out with this clown be my guest. I have to be honest here bud, other than the grammar police nothing irks me more than those who brag about their job in investments or stocks in a comic book forum. "You wanna impress me?? I don't think what he's doing is sleazy at all, I do however think that bringing up what you do for a living out of the blue is pretty sleazy in itself, Doesn't matter how much the company you work for is worth, it's pointless and irrelevant to the discussion and brings nothing to the table other than your inflated ego.

  9. Four. Two will fit snugly, and you cut down the other two an inch or so, and then put these two outside the first two, so that there's no movement in the envelope, . Unless someone sits on it, or otherwise applies other point pressure, it's pretty impervious, so long as the books are secured solidly in the middle. That's way too much work and wasted time, the boxes I recommended are much better and faster.
  10. I hope it does equally well, as that is a very sharp 6.0, but he will miss out on my bid now that I won the other 6.0 on Comiclink (I had bid high on the Comicconnect book the first time around.) Without the chipping, though, it presents better and should fetch a nice price! And thanks to everyone for the kind words -- sending out the check to Comiclink today... Dan To not needing time payments. And that is also a sharp looking 6.0 on comic connect. The seller will still probably do very well, I have to give him credit for having the stones for going for it. -J. He had to say goodbye to his early FF's to get the AF 15. I know the feeling though, I had to say goodbye to a 50% completion run of Journeys 9.0-9.2 to get the artwork I have.
  11. First Class has a 13 ounce limit. Hence, the post. Voila! The best thing about having your brother on these boards is that he can come and tell everyone what a bonehead you are. Oh ok, So I'm a bone for saying that first class mail has a 13 ounce limit...Looks like I'm not the only bonehead around here .At least I post facts. You're a bone? You're a lot of bones! The "12-13 ounces" in my post should have been the giveaway. When you're already at the limit with one book, it doesn't make much sense to not just ship Priority. With all this money you're making to be able to ship priority, you're probably funding ISIS too.
  12. Congrats on the AF 15, Dan! It doesn't get much better than that! Next stop, Detective 27!

  14. $5.90 for shipping a raw book??? Your title could have been better as well as your description. Seeing as the price for shipping a single book via USPS Priority Mail is $5.75 before discounts, that's just fine. Why does it need to go priority? Parcel and First Class is much cheaper, the buyer can wait an extra day for the $5.00 raw book he bought, Never had a complaint about shipping time. But it isn't if you factor everything in. Shipping supplies cost money, weighing comics costs money, my time costs money. With USPS Priority Mail all of that is a fixed cost and the buyer gets faster shipping. FD, Buy these http://affinitycollectibles.com/comic-flash-mailers.html you don't even need bubble wrap or foam peanuts, and cost less than $1 and holds up to a half dozen books at a time. Then print out a shipping label first class if it's just 1 comic sold, costs $2.73 through ebay for up to 13 ounces, then drop it in the mailbox on the street. Sellers need to learn how to mail as cheap as possible. Priority isn't the only method that can be used.

  16. It's called marketing, not luck. I agree completely. You can't just list books in the basic auction format and expect them to yield high sales prices. It may work on occasion, but generally not. Detail the book in the description, put emphasis on the positives, put up large scans both in ebay and in the ad, set your starting bid at what you yourself would buy the book for and set your BIN 30% higher. Yes, it's not going to sell right away, but be patient. Unless you're paying your mortgage or feeding your family on the returns, then you're in no rush - it's called a "collection". I tried telling people on here that but people on here seem to think it's that cut and dry and it's not. The biggest ebay businesses weren't built "on luck" If you want to make a living off of ebay, you have to treat it like a business. That comes with marketing, cost of goods, customer service ect.. I charge customers on ebay $3.95 to mail a raw book, I buy comic boxes for a little less than $1.00 and mail it USPS First Class. package weighs less than 10 ounces. Books arrive with no damage because of the way the box is designed for comics. Gets there in 2- 5 days.
  17. $5.90 for shipping a raw book??? Yeah, I'm sure the $1.91 difference in shipping cost between mine and Chip's auction is the reason for $32.00 difference in realized price. Title includes comic issue title, issue number, year of issue, publisher, grade - both numeric and letter, appearances. The description has all that plus creator credits and defect specifics for the grade, my method of packing and return policy. How specifically is that deficient? Cause of the way ebay's search engine works. yes, $1.91 is a big difference to a buyer, why should someone buy your copy of Legends 3 over someone else's?
  18. $5.90 for shipping a raw book??? Your title could have been better as well as your description.
  19. Your ebay auction is essentially an ad. You don't just "throw something up on ebay" and expect the auction to do well. Couldnt disagree more. Ive seen ebay listings that had bold fonts 2x descriptions and categories and ended up like a trainwreck. And on the flip side, I CONSTANTLY see trainwreck listings/sellers that are making a killing. Sure, eBay brings you buyers, but thats why they charge you all these fees, so you dont have to advertise and hussle. Bold fonts don't work,Chief. I sold on ebay an ASM 607 9.8 started the auction no reserve at .99 cents, The auction ended at $240.00. No bold fonts, 5 day auction, and nothing else extra. I know exactly how to get to the top of ebay search on each and every book I list, which is a big key on how to sell on ebay. That ASM 607 was just one example. So I couldn't disagree more with your opinion.
  20. Could be something wrong with your ebay auction, Bad title, bad photos, bad description, bad ending time ect... Your ebay auction is essentially an ad. You don't just "throw something up on ebay" and expect the auction to do well.
