  1. That book makes it up on every wall. I'm curious about that book. I got a nice 9.8, a SS (miller/Janson) 9.6 and a bunch a raws in the 8.5 - 9.2 territory. Of course I've got issues 2 - 4 (first printings) raw in the 9.4 - 9.6 territory. I gotta get my GPA back up and going cause of credit card issues (had to cancel the card hooked up to GPA cause of some theft so gotta get 'em the new card so I can't really look at GPA now, but... back to my DTR reverie i'm doing publicly here for everyone's benefit. You'd think everybody would already have that book. People were collecting them and bagging them and saving them and it was a big deal when it came out but there they are up on the wall in the 500 - 800 dollar range, past ebay sales over 600$ and on and on. Is there alot of movement still possible for that book? What will that book cost in 20 years in 9.8?
  2. I’m not sure where to post this thought so I’ll just do it here: I believe the photo of the kid on the sofa with the comics all around his feet (with the funny socks) and piled up to his elbows is staged. As in the the photographer thought how best to show as a visual the size of his collection was spreading them around the floor. I, of course, was not there but use my 3 decades in photography and show biz to arrive at this conclusion. I think it would be foolish to conclude the guy didn’t care about his comics from looking at that photo.
  3. Any Grand Seikos? If not than yeah I’d say you’re not serious.
  4. My collection really is just drek and I don't want my friends and family spending time trying to dispose of it because they think it's worth something.
  5. least you found out while you still above ground who's who..
  6. When I was a kid I used to have those blue books that you put pennies in, like each year had a slot for a penny. I guess that's run collecting in the coin world. What was up with those ads in comics that said, "If you have this penny it's worth $100,000." ? And they had catalouges you write for. I know it's off topic but I just got up and I've only had two cups of coffee and the dog mess the floor. EDIT: just looked it up. they were called "Whitman Albums." Did they make the Whitman variant comics, too?
  7. ok, it's coming back to me. bought for 218K, flip for 300k. nice work if you can get it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-8-0-UNRESTORED-1st-Appearance-of-Spider-Man-300K-VALUE/283107690314?epid=85393914&hash=item41ea88874a:g:8JUAAOSwB-Na-fo-
  8. guess i missed the sale of the "pre-chipped" 8.0 on CL excahnge.
  9. what's pre-chipped mean? I know MC of course, just getting a little confused over here.
  10. Enjoyed his story in the 46th OSPG, page 1169. Poetic and sad.
  11. and I read a thread authored by a guy who's claiming to want to make a Superman fan film starring himself as Superman and himself as Lex Luthor. After 6 pages or so someone suggest posting some pages of the -script. I promise to not leave here again.
  12. I don't care for signatures on books of that caliber, although it's a better SL signature than many, many I see. Maybe because of the caliber of the book it just doesn't matter if it's SS or not. I would just love to know what that book would sell for if it wasn't an SS and there is simply no way to know.
  13. we're gonna get a definitive selling price of an 8.0 SS. I'm curious what that 8.0 would have sold for if it wasn't SS.
  14. https://www.ebay.com/itm/STEVE-DITKO-SIGNED-ALBUM-COVER-STAN-LEE-JIM-SHOOTER-AMAZING-ADULT-FANTASY-CGC-SS/263852339995?_trkparms=aid%3D777003%26algo%3DDISCL.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D53210%26meid%3D8769cce297a346ae8c69632d434f80bd%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D292678083360%26itm%3D263852339995&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985
  15. Wonder what the ending price would be on the CC 8.0 if it wasn’t SS? More, less, or the same? Another of life’s mysteries that will never have a definitive answer I guess.
  16. my opinion is young collectors know keys prior to any TB issue revelation. Just my opinion.
  17. I notice DC is starting to do it (or maybe they have for awhile) Saw Dark Knight Returns for $1.00. I'd think that someone (even a young collector) would know previous to the TB dollar book that ASM 1 was a key. I see alot of these TB books in 9.8 with Yellow labels as a way to get Lee sig. Going price around $400.00
  18. It’s what the store owner said. He had a gun so I didn’t argue.
  19. No. It's on Walnut. Forgot the name. the jist of it was, Lots of adults and children used to collect coins, today nobody does. No one is interested in them. At all. I just looked up the Pasadena Coin Company. Yeah, pass that place all the time. The exterior of that place just about sums up coin collecting: https://www.yelp.com/biz/pasadena-coin-and-stamp-company-pasadena
  20. i was just in a coin shop in Pasadena. I was talking to the 85 year old owner for awhile. (Getting my Leica repaired next door at the camera shop). My throat is still raw and sore from the cigarette smoke. It was a really, really sad experience. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your post and I'm sorry if it's not.
