  1. Not trying to bait. Just my opinion; 2018 + Internet = BS BTW, thanks for posting Internment thread. Didn't know of it and looks like a good & educational read.
  2. maybe the potential to go bad was enough for Mods to take note
  3. i thought the poster you posted was positive and enjoyed seeing it as I've never seen it before. Didn't follow thread so maybe it devolved into the usual BS?
  4. jezz Gator, when I asked my dumb question in the Ask Gator thread a couple of days ago I didn't realize what you have been going through. I just back tracked and read what's going on. Sorry.
  5. Just get something on Amazon, it'll be cheaper.
  6. i thought the OP thread was about a great comic store that was, you know, great. and a guy came in and was saying I can get this cheaper and that cheaper and this cheaper and that cheaper on Amazon. OP didn't say the store sucked that I recall. Why would anyone shop in a store or come back to a store that sucked. Duh! So it seems some people don't care how great it is: customer services, cleanliness, selection, etc, etc. $2 cheaper is the goal. And what a fine goal! But it's all gonna be Amazon soon enough (or some variation of You might like this if you like this or This costumer bought this so you should, too!) so it's all gonna be great. and like I said, enjoy.
  7. I kinda trip out on that. I'm gonna sock the AF15 away for twenty years, you know, go for the long haul. What makes the long haul a safe bet I ponder while I sit at McDonald's all alone Thanksgiving night? Who's to say or know that this exact moment is the time to sell and make the most money?
  8. Cool. Some kinda algorithm vs. human being with real life lived experience. Is it like when you use Pandora and you put in Brian Eno and the algorithm or AI or whatever ends you up at Motley Crue an hour later? If you're LCS sucks find another. If live in the middle of nowhere there's some great shop owners here I'm sure would work with you via mail. Or like I said, enjoy Amazon and add up those 2 bucks. I hear ya though, if things aren't convenient and easy, hell, why do it?
  9. Edit: I gave a reason for the blankness of thread but remembered it involved blankness of another thread.
  10. is A1 another local shop? (Sacramento, California?) If so I could possibly see why they might get angry, unless they enjoy these kinds of encounter we're discussing.
  11. thanks. i simply can't believe people are this delusional. as in, where are they getting their information it's worth 20k? How can someone just pull something out their a** and think it's a fact? How? How? How, I ask you.
  12. that's a very polite way to put things. i like it!
  13. The problem is I'm a grown man acting this way
  14. I'm sorry I asked you how much money you spent on that collection you picked up about 9 months ago. I'm nosey and it's a problem. Once as a kid I got punched in the face for asking too many questions.
  15. If you have time Gator and you feel like doing so could you please tell the worst story you have about someone coming in to sell drek (but they think it's their kids college tuition), you declining and their reaction. A thread over in General got me thinking of this. For whatever reason I never tire of hearing these "breaking bad news to comic collector" stories. It's my guilty pleasure. Thanks.
  16. What joy- shopping at Amazon. Forget having a learned shop owner to point you to stuff you may not know about, ect. Keep saving that precious 2 or 3 bucks.
  17. true story: as a very young kid I ordered from chuck through the mail. I was trying to finish my Avengers run and I ordered some books and put down alternates because those were the rules. He sent the alternates which bummed me out as I needed my first choices to finish the run. I sent a letter back to him saying something like, "You Suck!" I know it was wrong but I was, like, 9 or something. He wrote back saying I was banned for life from every ordering from him. I've never ordered from his since. I should send him an amends letter.
  18. guy sounds like a real piece of work. it's all race to the bottom these days. he'll get his.
  19. book about comic fandom's mail inspection unit in the 70s. Didn't know fandom had it's own branch that investigated fraud between comic buyers and seller through the mail, often involving the FBI, Local Postal Inspectors, The United States Postmaster General, Federal Trade Commission, Police Detectives, PIs, various members of congress, etc. And you thought the sales forum here was eagle-eyed and serious about no hanky panky.
  20. I love my Bank SAFE Deposit box. (let's use proper terminology, please) and could never give my comics to another for "remote storage." However, if you live a very big wealthy city, I could see your project working. As someone mentioned earlier insurance is a big question: who carries the policy? You? The comic owner? I can see this getting muddy and problematic. Many comic collectors (and all collectors of rare & pricey items) are very interested in Bank SAFE Deposit Boxes and their interests in the history/mechanics of Bank SAFE Deposit Boxes is equal to and/or greater than their interest in comics. Now if you opened some sort of remote safe/climate controlled storage area that was also an exhibit/museum centered around Bank SAFE Deposit Boxes with tour guides and maybe a 10-minute introductory educational film than you might have something!!! Folks could see their comics (for those who need such things) and get a little education around Bank SAFE Deposit Boxes. I support and encourage this project. Sounds very interesting!
  21. showoff. I bought a couple for 2.95 back-in-the-day and, well, sold 'em back-in-the-day.
  22. thanks. it's in Southern California so I'm sure any comics there will be stupid over priced
  23. Opening one in down the street. Have they overly-wised up and over charging on collectable back issues now?
