  1. Yes, it's my question. Even added an extra question mark at the end of the sentence for those with extra needs.
  2. In the year 2043 all will be revealed.
  3. nope. no displaying. straight to the bank vault. What's there to look at? It's entombed in plastic. I really only have about 7 or 8 pricey ones in CGC cases at the bank. The rest of my collecting is Raw in Mylites 4 or whatever in my closet. I got a nice xmen run 94 - 150 raw in the closet. Xmen 94, 95 and 101 or worth what in 9.2 or 9.6 couple hundred? Hell everyone knows xmen are valuable even dummy crooks so I guess that'll get taken.
  4. The pure cosplay photo thread of the NYCC got me thinking. DO you as a dealer worry as you see someone dressed as a giant unwieldy Transformer with his family of 4 dressed as baby transformers, one is covered in fake blood because he was ostensibly the "bloody birthed transformer" from Transformers Part 61 stumble to your booth and ask to see this and that and the father Transformer doesn't even have hands but some kind of Tranformer claws??
  5. but she took Social Security in her older years just fine as Steve Ditko's man Robin Snyder resorted to online begging to make and get SD stuff out there. Isn't Objectivism every person cares for themselves and hand outs are not needed as objectivists are "Supermen?" Always wondered about this. Should have asked Steve.
  6. I wonder where he is now? Asking Ayn Rand for her autograph? Getting is a fistfight with Jack Kirby or saying to himself, "well, mess I was wrong about everything."
  7. but some pull out of their head (based on no information what so ever ) that He was being "polite" in returning a letter sent to him as this was of his generation. Based on nothing.
  8. It very well could have been. I expressed concern for his health as he has missed my last two letter. Nobody knows Ditko. I really never brought up my corresponding with him as there is a deeply rooted camp here thinking "you're bothering him" (as if they know what his desires are/were) I told his niece point blank that i was writing him and asked her if he enjoyed corresponding with people. She said he loves getting and answering letters but he's a bit of a "difficult presonality" and if that's gonna bother you don't write. She said he would love to say "politically charged things around the dinner table then sit back and enjoy the sparks fly."
  9. this is where i sent mine: Steve Ditko 1650 Broadway Ste 715 New York, NY 10019-6833 the last letter I wrote him was on 6/22/2018. Perhaps the very day he died.
  10. That's impossible. Every single time I wrote him, he wrote back. We all know his disposition and that's just the way he is/was. I think I have about 2 letters out of about 20 where he seems like a super friendly guy other then that it was Super Angry Man. I'm curious as to what you wrote? And I wrote the full spectrum of letters: questions about Objectivism, dumb questions about a contractor I had working at the house, just really random, often surreal nonsensical, kinda stuff. Always got a letter back. I can say I never asked about SM or SL or Marvel or the Marvel Movies or asked for an autograph (which you would get anyway with his return letter. Duh!) it was more like, "This contractor working at my house today says he met God at the liquor store down the street and God told him to buy a lottery ticket. He's offered me the lottery ticket but the guy just isn't doing the work here I hired him to do. What should I do?" BAM 5 days letter I get a letter with him telling me what I should do and how idiotic I was. No actually I believe he was super friendly guy with this letter. have to check. Seriously. I got mess tons of letters like that if someone ever gets a hold of all the letters SD received and puts out a book called "From the desk of Steve: they're gonna have a field day with my letters.
  11. i told people repeatedly for about a year here that if you write Steve Ditko a letter you will 100% get a response. I bought an AF15 for a boat load of money and wrote SD asking him if it was a "wise investment." The return letter I got from him berating me putting me on full blast at what an insufficiently_thoughtful_person I am is classic and absolutely hilarious as only a grumpy angry SD can be. No I'm not gonna post it. Don't have a scanner and don't care if someone believes me or not. It's in the bank safe deposit box with the AF15. Both the letter and book will be for sale in about 25 years. You'll see it then. Unless I die and then the my heir will sell it quicker then a New York minute probably to the LCS down the street even though I'v left detailed instructions on it's sale and NOT TO SELL IT THE LOCAL COMIC SHOP. And that's where you'll probably find it.
  12. what does he charge? I don't feel like reading this whole thing. thanks.
  13. I'm bored so for my entertainment maybe we can switch this up. Anybody ever see an artist/writer be gracious as can be with a fan who's rude as a turd? Demanding, cutting inline, telling them how to write/draw. I gotta go to a dinner party with the wife tonight and I'm dreading it. Need some laughs.
  14. I'll be honest here. I don't know much about Neal Adams except for the work he has done and I'm no pro at that either.. Has he got the reputation as a donkey? The only interaction I ever had with him is the one I wrote of above. Very odd to yell at someone simply minding their own business who happens to be walking by.
  15. I mean if that's what you're into, I can go on. The burger was beyond greasy. What struck me was all the grease and condiments were dripping onto the piece of art he was working on. Like I said I just kept trucking. Didn't really want to engage but I wonder about that commission he was doing, how he got the mustard, ketchup and pickles off it.
  16. I’m gonna side with the OP on this one. It’s easy to say a newcomer here doesn’t know how to grade. However these books were in climate controlled storage in acid free bags and boards in a stress free environment. It all equals 9.8s for me whenever things get stressful at my house with the mother in law, I immediately move my comics and I believe it helps with getting 9.8s If a comic isn’t 9.8 it’s sh*t. Plain and simple. OP you were robbed. Have you tried PGX? Don’t settle for 8.0s for the simple fact that these comics WERE 9.8s! I believe CGC and the losers here are purposely devaluing your comics so you’ll sell em on the cheap. Don’t fall for this scam. This hobby is ruthless .
  17. Neal Adams. Stan Lee Los Angeles Comic Con 2016. And here's the kicker: I wasn't even "at" his table. I was just walking by his table with some comics I had just purchased and turned to look in his direction and he saw me seeing him and he wiped the mustard off his chin from a cheese burger he seemed to be literally inhaling and scream at me, "YOU SHOULD COLLECT ARTWORK, NOT COMIC BOOKS. YOU SHOULD COLLECT MY ARTWORK NOT COMIC BOOKS!" I smiled, continuing to walk past him and looking directly at him said, " F*** you."
  18. thanks for summing that up for those of us not paying attention. I googled some names and started reading this about that and that about this and decided it's better to not be paying attention. But the sum up you wrote is appreciated.
  19. What you're doing makes total sense. You're the smart one here.
  20. I see the cranes building it as I pass by driving The 110. I ought to go check it out but will probably spend the day on the Fredrick's Of Hollywood site.
  21. You could have rare comics in them! I learned this from some kinda "sell your comic books to us"/ appraisal site. So what's in your attic? I believe I have insulation and a christmas tree.
  22. Space in my brain goes for pretty cheap. Hence the thoughts about the TechVisor. I'd have to buy ROM #1 slabbed 9.8 for WAY more than it's worth for this all to work. I do things the hard way and can't help it. Perhaps I could get a dealer to do some theater or role playing with me buying their wall copy at a con just to put my mind at ease?
  23. I think it’s more bulletproof investment than AF15! Something like percentage wise you’d make less $ than AF15 but spend less or something like that I could explain better if I put more effort into this. Anybody know if that TacVisor thing works as good as it does on the infomercial?
  24. thanks. wonder why the disastrous 5k sale happened? I'd think auctioning is the way to find the bidders with cash. What do I know? Not much. I miss Grebal if you're out there somewhere. hasn't been the same around here. having kinda a bummer fall and it's prolly gonna be a worse winter. signing off...
