I think you are confused, there is no charge to sell here.
No one forces anyone to take Paypal. You could just ask for checks or money orders, but you wouldn't sell much.
Shipping and supplies will cost you the same wherever you sell, but if you sell on eBay there are fees.
I'm not confused, though I'm sure I need more coffee, so perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I get that I am not paying CGC anything to sell here. But costs are costs, and you need to factor those into your prices wherever you sell. I don't love everything about eBay, but I think their fees reasonable for what you get in return (reach, marketing features, etc.).
Over-priced items will be corrected by the market. As long as sellers are honest and not mis-leading, I have no problem with whatever a seller wants to charge.
FWIW my perspective is as someone who has sold several 1000 comics, mostly on eBay, but mainly for the hobby of it. Selling comics well requires *a lot* of effort. I'm just saying, keep this in mind when you criticize sellers purely on price. That's my 2¢.

There are some pretty obnoxious prices on readily available books on the boards now. People used to offer things at a small discount, simply because you aren't paying fees to sell here. Those days are long gone apparently.
Sellers *not* using PayPal friends and family, per the selling guidelines, still pay a fee to sell here. Also, factor in the ever-rising cost of shipping and supplies...

I call it "color rub" or "ink rub". This is a very common flaw on modern Marvel books.
I think you still have a shot at 9.2 or 9.4, but I wouldn't expect 9.8.

Are there stains on the interior pages?

Any other 114s out there..?Yay! New page! Bring on the #115s!!!

Agree it's 8-8.5.
This is not a rare book. I wouldn't waste time or money to press and slab. If you're looking for a top-grade copy, you're better off buying it slabbed.

@BlowUpTheMoon You are busted! What do you have to say for yourself?

9.2 (no way this book is a 9.8 CGC come on)
I have a couple bronze books at CGC now that -- if they don't come back 9.8's -- I will be pissed.

In true UVA fashion, I was engaged in a low-scoring game. Unlike the Hoos, I came out of the first round with a W (37-29). Adampatz, thanks for a great matchup. The iron, unfortunately, was not kind to either of us. My only hope for future victories is to keep opponents under 30.
Good matchup! Think positive thoughts @khoo75. I'm rooting for you to win the whole thing!
9.8s killed me in this tournament. I had the AQUA at an 8.5. Maybe I spent too much time scrutinizing the hi-res scans. But seriously - there were at least 3 color-breaking spine marks on that book.

Printer's creases are horizontal, and the nut sack crease was more vertical. Just want to point that out.
All scans and pictures are post-press. The presser who pressed that book was able to extremely reduce the nut sack crease to what I showed in the photo.
Best-looking nut sack crease I've ever seen.

Stop gloating.
Yeah. "Gloating" about my totally average score.
If you scored last place, you're set! For the next round, all you need to do is grade all the books, then subtract ten and take the absolute value of each grade!

I finally had a chance to review my scores. I'm really kicking myself about the DareDevil. It would've made a huge difference in my seeding!
I was actually close on the 2001 -- I guessed 9.0. Something seemed weird about that staple.
Like everyone else, I was way off on the GSC. I had it at a 6.0, which was clearly too harsh. But no way it is a 9.0 with all the apparent scratches and rubs on the front.
I was also way off on HOS and WWT.
Overall CGC seemed really generous with their grades! I should send them some VF bronze books asap to see if I can snag some 9s.
SpoilerMine | Actual | Score
2001 9.0 | 8.5 | 2W
ASM 8.0 | 9.4 | 2L
DD 9.6 | 9.8 | 2W
FF 2.5 | 2.5 | 3W
GSC 6.0 | 9.0 | 2L
HOS 5.0 | 6.5 | 2L
PPSP 3.0 | 3.5 | 2W
WWT 8.0 | 9.4 | 2L
WW 2.0 | 2.5 | 2W
X-MEN 5.0 | 6.0 | 1L1 Bulls Eyes = No bonus
Total 11W, 9LMy total grade points: 58.1
CGC total grade points: 67.4

I think you would only get it if you have a PP credit card.
As I understand it, it's just saying you can no longer use your credit card as a funding source if your cash balance goes to 0.
-
Drat! Almost went for 9.8 on the DD.
-
I don't see it going higher than 3.0 G/VG.
Big stain along the bottom of the book kills the grade.
-
I have it at at 8.0-8.5

I do apologize for not being clear enough in my original post. Not trying to start any wars here. Just wanted to share some perspective now that I've been in this game for a couple years.
To many people $50 ... or even $2 *is* worth dickering about. Not saying it's right or wrong, but this is a matter of perspective. Everyone has a different situation.
15% markup over GPA does not seem insane to me. Maybe the seller thinks it's a hot or rare book. Maybe it presents well. Maybe the page quality is better. If it was 2X or 3X GPA you might have a point. (Also, GPA includes prices for auctions, wherein the buyer/seller dynamic is different than BINs...)
As mentioned, I think eBays fees are reasonable (if not great) for what you get. Better than paying 30% to host an app. in the Apple app. store.
