  2. nothing wrong with paying a bit of premium if you get someone else to pay a bigger premium after that. , ain't that the truth.

  4. Only if you feel compelled to buy everything they put out at top dollar. If you're okay with possibly missing out and are willing to wait, most can probably be had from ebay after a few months or years for $20 or under. Well that's the thing, I don't buy every variant but I've passed on so many variants that I wanted thinking they'd eventually cool off, to just find out they are either way out of my price range now or still climbing. One good example is the JSC variant of Amazing spider-man 688. I could of had that for $50 a couple of years ago but thought it'd eventually lower in price and be more affordable.....but unfortunately I was wrong and now it's a few hundred dollar book now. Yup. That's the caveat with this approach. You could miss out. I really don't care much if I do. Then again, I'm not interested in selling comics so appreciation after I buy a comic doesn't matter to me. I only care about the cost at time of purchase.
  5. math is hard I'll be the wet blanket and explain, that's a 73.33% drop, not 300-400%.

  7. Dear lord man , where are you shopping ?? -J. Translation, please provide exact address so we can shop there, too.
  8. Nothing about face at all. I am watching the market on pre-sales of variants pretty closely since I have to price books for my job. I told you to "suck it up" because it was ironic that you were complaining about a book being mentioned on another sites hot list of upcoming releases 3+ weeks prior to release, and then complained when it actually got hot at release, in a thread that people use to try and flip books on eBay. I like hot books too, but I don't complain they got hot, I try to get a deal and or wait for them to cool off or Marvel Variant Blowout Sales at $2.00 a pop. That is the difference between you and I. Actually, I believe it was featured on the YouTube video as a hot pick of the week just the weekend before release. Honestly, I was just confused why it was suddenly fetching what it was on ebay. Prior to the YouTube vid, no one was paying it any attention. Sure, there was some minor griping but you'll notice I didn't say I was entitled to get a copy at $xx. If it doesn't fall to a price range I find acceptable, I'm more than fine missing out. By the way, DCBS came through and it should be in my next shipment. This was my post: P.S. I wasn't even aware of CBSI's existence prior this event. Obviously, I'd be confused why a title that most consider drek is suddenly hot on ebay. First time I became aware of CBSI's existence was after my Google search to try to find out what the heck happened.
  9. Undercutting has begun. All the Wednesday warriors hitting the stores tomorrow are flooding the market, this one will eventually fall to less than the Campbell Variants. How many copies did you manage to line up there Kev? Posts got deleted so I can't confirm but weren't you the same poster who was ragging on me when I mentioned I thought Thunderbolts #7 1:25 Checchetto was overvalued and told me to suck it up and just buy the regular cover to read? Which I already had, by the way. That's a pretty interesting about face.
  10. Saw this while browsing this week's releases on Midtown (curious about the other Gamora #1 covers). No heat here at all but this cover was just too cute for words: http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/dp.asp?PRID=Avengers+Vol+6+%232%2E1+Cover_1604486
  11. At least this one has an upcoming movie next summer. , this one's only worth it if you can find it cheap at your LCS (somewhat unlikely, comic stores just weren't ordering 25 issues of the regular issue). Otherwise, I reckon this has probably seen its peak (~$180) so if you're buying on ebay to sell later on ebay, good luck. I certainly wouldn't buy it on ebay at current prices.
  12. , not really all that different from retailer exclusive variants - Color, B&W, Virgin/Sketch and you can only get the Virgin/Sketch variant if you buy the complete set. The zoomed #0, as I mentioned, I find completely understandable. It's practically a freebie issue and is designed more as a sneak peek so it stands to reason they'll try to save money on those. Give folks a taste instead of a full meal. As for the virgin chase variants for #1 and #2 (and quite likely later issues), if people stop buying, then they'll stop making them. Right now, it's an effective method for publishers to artificially increase demand/unit sales. Once people get fed up, publishers will go on to the next new gimmick.
  13. I don't blame Dynamite for using variations of Red Sonja #1 cover art for the Red Sonja #0 sneak peek. They're practically giving those away so it's understandable for them to save money where they can. I expect we'll see recolored/full versions of the art used in Vampirella #0 covers in Vampirella #1, too. , what do you mean 3? Red Sonja #1 had the following: RED SONJA #1 Cover A: Nick Bradshaw Cover B: J. Scott Campbell Cover C: Brandon Peterson Cover D: Giuseppe Camuncoli Cover E: Cosplay Cover Cover F Subscription: Mel Rubi RETAILER INCENTIVE #1: (“CVR G 10-COPY BRADSHAW B&W INCV”) For every 10 copies ordered and received, retailers will qualify to order a Nick Bradshaw “Black & White” cover at the net cost of $2.00 each. RETAILER INCENTIVE #2: (“CVR H 20-COPY CAMUNCOLI B&W INV”) For every 20 copies ordered and received, retailers will qualify to order a Giuseppe Camuncoli “Black & White” cover at the net cost of $2.00 each. RETAILER INCENTIVE #3: (“CVR I 30-COPY RUBI B&W INCV”) For every 30 copies ordered and received, retailers will qualify to order a Mel Rubi “Black & White” cover at the net cost of $2.00 each. RETAILER INCENTIVE #4: (“CVR J 40-COPY PETERSON B&W INCV”) For every 40 copies ordered and received, retailers will qualify to order a Brandon Peterson “Black & White” cover at the net cost of $2.00 each. RETAILER INCENTIVE #5: (“CVR K 50-COPY CAMPBELL VIRGIN INCV”) For every 50 copies ordered and received, retailers will qualify to order a J. Scott Campbell “Virgin” cover at the net cost of $2.00 each. RED SONJA #1 CVR L BLANK AUTHENTIX EDITION That makes for a total of 12 covers (1 main/regular and 11 variants).
  14. This is where series and subject matter, not just the artist. An artist may be hot at the moment which drives prices up short term but I don't think it takes a genius to figure that Spider-Man likely has a much bigger and more stable market than the Winter Soldier.
  15. I expect this will have a massive print run although Dynamite is probably losing money with each issue sold. They're running a similar 25-cent promotion for Vampirella #0.
  16. ebay? Supply should be quite plentiful since cover price on this is just $0.25 so even a hefty 1:100 ratio would mean all of $25. Not bothering with this one. This is part of the image used in Red Sonja #1 Cover B and I already have that preordered for a whopping $2.59. There's also a 1:50 virgin variant for that one in case you might be interested. I just finished reading #0 and it seems pretty interesting. Will probably continue collecting the series (Campbell variants).
  17. I reckon the OCD comic buyers are pretty concentrated in this forum. Otherwise, I doubt they can sell 100k+ issues of Batman. Most comic readers probably won't be able to tell the difference between 8.5 and 9.8.
  18. Fickle or not, I still think it's possible to grab the audience's attention without necessarily giving the store away. East of West is one example. Even for novels, if the first chapter doesn't capture my attention, I stop reading the book. I can't remember how many times I've fallen asleep trying to read the first chapter of Twilight. At least it was just a library book. Meanwhile, I've forgone sleep for Harry Potter.
  19. Hmm, dunno why he'd feel the need to do that. I think world building's part of the fun/journey. Heck, see Harry Potter. Always something new every school year. Granted I'm sure there's a fine line between leaving readers wanting for more and frustrating them with extremely slow pacing. I haven't read much of Remender's other works. I picked up Seven to Eternity because it sounded interesting but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. I just started reading East of West (volume 1 via Comixology Unlimited). East of West definitely left me wanting for more so I plan on picking up later volumes (thank goodness for Comixology sales). Errata: East of West is Jonathan Hickman, not Rick Remender. Only other work of Remender I've read is Black Science. Alas, didn't care much for that either.
  20. We need more robust search. All the other forums I frequent have a search option within threads.
  21. so the market has decided on Swamp 50 instead of 49? What about Justice League Dark #1? I agree on the GSC last set of issues Just curious. Why is the shortcut GSC instead of GCS?
