Modern Star Wars Comics that are heating up
ADAMANTIUM replied to mr_highgrade's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
To get the full story on why that show is good and sometimes heartbreaking, I’d recommend watching the Clone Wars series. TBH, it’s probably the best Star Wars storytelling that’s been produced to this point, so it’s highly recommended, regardless. TBH I opened up Disney last night to take a gander and found it, but then stumbled upon X-men the Animated series. I own the DVD's but stopped after the Dark Phoenix, so idk priorities and etc. -
Selling Comic Collection in LA Area -- Update!
ADAMANTIUM replied to mlovest's topic in Comics General
Amen 🙏 Ya I just wanted to check on the app. 1822 books into $42000, which is the kind of math common for bulk imo, would only put it at about $22 per book which doesn't sound unreasonable on the face of it. Only in small bursts, as would seem obvious a LCS or for that matter a collector would shell out that kind of dough on the whole on a af15 a much better investment. If I followed the conversation as it's been a minute, I think that $42000 is closer to the total you'll wind up with, but not by selling it all at once. Even to a LCS and etc. so for my own benefit on the app I was double checking to see how realistic. Was more a question, and I thank you for the response. -
That's basically the way it is in the USA if stated that "it wasn't you." I think you're confusing that with a forced return that eBay or similarly PayPal has in the agreement. It still has checks and balances though and terms of service with back and forth have to happen. Now do our cc or PayPal mostly side with the buyer? Yes, but mostly because their the customer 'who is always right." In terms of eBay I've had a slab show up in the postal delivered with the box barely dented but the slab inside covered it bubble wrap, not chipped but broke in half like someone slammed it like a board over their knee. Where the top half and bottom slide right off the inner well and the comic is no longer the grade on the label. I had to force a return as not as described and eBay sided with me, however I learned later that when I returned it, "the seller opened a case that it was returned not as described! As well, and eBay refunded the buyer too cause the slab and book were trashed. I assume the seller got to keep the book. There is still back and forth, and eBay should have made the seller claim insurance through the postal side, as there is still a thing if mail fraud that is a criminal offense. Whether the seller sent it to me like that idk, but that's what happened and their listing I don't remember whether it offered returns but I think it did.

Selling Comic Collection in LA Area -- Update!

I noticed your handle as an old boardie, and I don't want to read between lines as I'm not too sure the details of the app in 9.4? Costs to grade have gone up about 2 thirds in the past 5 years, the cost of only grading even the cheapest of moderns (older books are more) at 1822 times $25 per book is like $45000 in itself, so I assume this 42000 is the price of raws. When buying in bulk I've heard less than $3 to$5 a piece all the way to $50 a longbox, which can hold about 100-150 books. Imo or from what I remember. Even $10 a book would only be 18,220, for 1822 books, which itself is a far cry from $42000. With that said the app could actually mean slabbed cgc 9.4, and if that's the case? At the current cost to grade they'd be losing money in raw times two if they wanted to then slab by spending an additional $$45000? The math doesn't substantiate, but that's my opinion. -
I would have kept it also, neat find I admire yalls pluck, as I too would have to say yay or nay, but I collect mostly for slabs; since this would receive a green label I'd be in trouble. I collect niche stuff too, but this would weigh heavy but "from my collecting habits" or I can say specifically with this book, and due to the qualified label, no? Or am I mistaken (for my own benefit if it were happen to me?) ? It is a neat perspective in that it meets a niche, and yet, with values? As op said it'd have weighed heavy.

Modern Star Wars Comics that are heating up
ADAMANTIUM replied to mr_highgrade's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Yes I've been informed to check it out on Disney plus, that I just signed up for this month. Only watched Loki season two thus far, and was wondering where in the world Carmen Sandiego, I mean where to start in the multi verse... As good a recommendation as any! -

An interesting plot, with storm troopers? I'd go for that! Local store had knights of republic out the wazoo, but idk star wars, and yet now home looking at key collector perhaps I should have paid attention -

New Tax Reporting ($600 Threshold per year) and Consignments
ADAMANTIUM replied to telerites's topic in Comics General
AFAIK PayPal reporting and ebay, (basically all platforms separately venmo and etc) no matter if twice reported in one transaction ie ebay via PayPal, was to send the form if over $600+ even in one transaction. If you sold goods and services via PayPal over $600 and did the same but separately on ebay with your bank, both would send you their own separate forms. Even if it was only ebay and the transaction was $600 no matter the amount of transactions, get a tax form from ebay but not paypal. Yall said it was postponed this year, does that mean no forms unless both 200 transactions and over $20,000? Or was the limit just changed to $5,000 rather than $600? I've sold separately under $600 both ebay and PayPal, but the amount on PayPal was separate from ebay both separately individual transactions.... ahem if they had anything to do with each other they'd be over $600, but they're not, cause use my bank for ebay. I shouldn't get a form. All were pretty much losses so to speak anyway, just avoiding the hassle of declaring a loss or showing receipts etc. Next year I hope it is the same as regulation for the $600, but with the limit being $5,000 instead, and that was my understanding of what yall said. Guess I have to wait and see! -
