  1. Do you mean the registry your out? Or collecting? Also they already do for price editions of newsstands. Perhaps not with your sets, as the superman Era I've seen you post is somewhat before that time. Asm has them, but they've locked them into asm complete with variants sets. So the other sets are mostly safe, even if they get to what you collect, other than superman or including it, they'd be reserved to a "variant set" Hope that helps
  2. And that's what made this fun for those who can't buy big books often enough. Made me hit bin stores and ask questions, I'm really going to miss that most of all. I mean it'll still happen I suppose, but it is a dump truck feeling that I'm sure still has finer notes still in there with the ones you mentioned. I came late to the party on those, to the point, I sold them to boardies who were looking to complete sets. I guess we can expect closer looks on those that still differ in price, instead of having to call to have them notated correctly. I got a few added to the census, not high grade, but it was a hunt and this seems to generalize across the board. I'm glad you pointed to that thread, as I do not know how common that knowledge is, especially to those who now have to sort it out among the potential thousands of new "newsstand edition" labels. It's kind of disheartening because there seemed a deeper meaning there at one time
  3. Due to the Newsstand thread, where I either prove myself ignorant or thoughtful It makes me ask why liquidity, over saturation of Newsstand on labels, water down of the product of label notations, and the diluting of the market mean to me? I guess it really all flows down hill, we really need some fiber.

  5. So thinking I am misunderstood or confusing, I see now cgc will continue to describe ALL newsstand as "newsstand edition." Presumably that is what the label will say, so I have my answer. Price newsstand edition such as "$3.99 newsstand edition" will appear different than the ones that will say Newsstand edition only. I was curious if that would water down those different in price on the label. I guess it all answers itself and there was no reason for my question It's the market will then decide. Still it isn't very clear on past edition that were different from its "direct" version because of the paper used, if I remember that right. I'm seeing the newsstand market being now flooded, which is what I meant by "watered down", with no real differentiation. It's is going to dilute the niche for me, but it doesn't seem like anyone is like minded. No worries. It's going to end up, Newsstand? Check yes or no. How boring and non exciting imo
  6. That's what I was getting at, currently or recently there were designations with a qualifier for the Newsstand, as to why it was on the label. Ie "newsstand edition" as a qualifier or descriptive term in the price of a Newsstand. Are the new labels just going to say "Newsstand?" And that's it? How does that now water down the previous qualifiers? How does it provide a "Newsstand" only as "also has a direct version" in the cgc link" above? what are people going to say when they see a new Newsstand only and compare it to a Newsstand with a qualifier...? Ie Newsstand edition It is a blanket statement in the link? that can't be their official stance, or if it is, it will be updated and clarified. I hope. Maybe their awaiting feedback idk Edited 1 minute ago by ADAMANTIUM
  7. Is it really going to end up saying "newsstand?" @CGC Mike with no other qualifiers? Not to be considered the same as "newsstand edition?" Someone at cgc may need to clarify in writing for those who will inevitably ask. Is my thoughts. Would be nice if we had someone to ask or who could ask
  8. I thought it was same difference as well, but this continues to undermine already established newsstand labels? Imo, yes, a bit watered down. It would be different if they listed a link in what describes a newsstand, cause if what they've done in the past means anything "also a direct version" is kind of misleading.... That doesn't give history of cgc proven track record, and kind of saws off the branch they were sitting on, so idk
  9. Absolutely. I'm finding at the moment that no-one is letting their 'good stuff' go as prices are all over the shop, and a lot of 'newbie' sellers are stuck with books they paid very high prices for. I've been buying the Hardback Marvel and DC sets everytime I see them - peeps can't be arsed to sell them one-by-one, so I do on my ebay store. I buy the hardbacks at around $3 - $5 (AUD) each and sell between $12 - $25 (AUD) each on average - especially the higher numbers,as a lot of people dropped out of collecting them when the postage service crumbled under the strain of Covid delays. These books are imported into Australia. The TPB's cost me less than $1 each. I'll get $10 AUD minimum (usually unless I've had them for eons or they have some damage) for the 'well-known' ones - some I've sold for $80+ each for the Out Of print ones. The Swamp Thing hardbacks will get $50 each easily. I should make a really good profit on these - templates are already done from previous purchases,so it's scan and list. Takes less than 1 min per book - and this is a hobby, not a job,so it's all gravy for a 'big book' down the line. Fits in easily into my work / life balance as I only work 3 days a week (12 hr shifts). TPB's and GN's are all that's keeping my store going tbh. Hopefully people will accept the new pricing soon and the comic collections will become available again. I didn't take it as 'ragging' - all in good fun - nice to be a part of this community and share finds We weren't knocking the tpbs at all Great find @Beige !! He lightheartedly said his wife wasn't happy Anyway buy her dinner with proceeds, and glad it's working out!
  10. You can call, but I agree it's been a minute for you. Did you write initials of the signing person on all sides of the box? That ensures its opened straight away, but if it shows delivery tracking on TAT page, they'll eventually get to it! This is why there is a buffer between having them in by and the actual signing. I noticed estimates for package opening went away, I assumed they were caught up. Delivery tracking is the main thing, you should be good. Call though, especially if the initial weren't written

  12. Sounds right, I call it an "antique" shop but it might have been a Half Price books surplus store, or it was a location they used to have. I remember being asked what I wanted to study on, maybe buy a book on it. I was like 12, and I'm like I just want a comic and lets go haha, I was not prepared to have a come to Jesus moment. haha Still stuck in my brain though
  13. $1 bin finds, that I'm keeping forever!
  14. I've seen some Oct peoples shipped already, but mine are still sfg, so it feels extra!
  15. ahem I have economy from OCT last year and March this year that beg to differ I can see you're point though I still wonder how it will be "labeled" and those of price difference or other "reasons" for newsstand, if it will appear the same? or will those of the past now be mixed and watered down I don't know seems to prevail.
  16. Then there were "some" that newsstand had a different paper stock or something, that is just a lot to keep up with I don't knock it, as it creates a niche for some, but idk, it seems like a "lot!" Hoping that, less mistakes are made, or that, CGC doesn't do away with the OLD when incorporating the NEW
  17. My point being that they already did it for "some" and not just one's with a "price difference" than direct, but I guess this consolidates it into: all of them that "also have a direct version!" I wonder if this will make their job easier? or more things that can be mistaken?
  18. It can start anytime after the cut off date, as that is when to have books "in" by, but CGC doesn't ever disclose when it "will" happen... only after it does or sometimes during if it ends up taking a while with a lot of books, will they post on social that it is happening. I'd expect with McFarlane and him being a "showman" of sorts, you'll hear on Facebook and others that the signing is happening. It won't until after the cut off date, but will probably be a couple of weeks after that
  19. Just so I'll know: Why did they do it already for some books without a "price difference" than direct? Example: this X-force #116? Is it the "mature readers?" and then this BATMAN? It already had a "label notation" but I believe the non newsstand of this cover would have the same "notation", so idk
  20. Oh believe me I know! You should have seen me saying I'm coming Elizabeth!" At checkout. The guy at the register was a bit ham fisted. I thought it may have been like initially firm, so I tried to be patient. Then as he was squinting to ring it up, I let it slip, "Be careful!" But he didn't hear me. I think it didn't do any "more" damage But still!
  21. Yes! Tbh though I have it in spare a grade section, it is maybe 7.0 though, still a bargain. I'm usually not too bummed on a bargain, but since I don't flip, idk if it's high enough grade for my personal collection. Sounds snobby but I'm not sure
