  1. Look no further; if you're dealing with Rich you're dealing with one of the top boardies around! I did NOT sell him any books, or buy from him. But here's the kind of guy he is -- I was offering a massive collection of Jonah Hex, from ASW10 on up. Rich connects me with his brother (who is not on here but is one of the biggest Jonah Hex fans you will meet, with a high-grade slabbed run well underway) and by noon the next day his brother and I are exchanging in person. Rich went out of his way to make virtual introductions to facilitate a meaningful connection for two other people. If this doesn't tell you what you need to know, I don't know what would. You're dealing with a top-notch boardie; transact with confidence!
  2. First black villain in Marvel universe in that #2, y'know....
  3. There's also something very disturbing about this very stark abuse cover as well, even though it has no gore. The violence is brutal.
  4. First book I thought of when I saw your headline was my CDNP 46; I'll second that. (Also Man Comics #1 but I don't have one.) I'll add these two to the mix:
  5. Thank you ; got your PM. We can figure it out there; I'll close the thread so as not to hog real estate.
  6. Always nice to add a boardie book from the sale threads! Thanks @mustang33guy!
  7. This just in from a great boardie -- thanks @mustang33guy!
  8. I've both bought from and sold to (Golden Age in both cases) Adam, and hes a great boardie! Communication, negotiation, shipping and packing -- all fast, accurate and timely! Do not hesitate to transact
  9. Are ya warm enough yet?!!?!?
  10. When I met Joe Sinnott in 1982, he was very excited about his then-current project:
  11. I think of Avengers 4 as much more than just Cap's first SA appearance. It brings the Golden Age into the Silver Age for Marvel. All the silver keys have shot so much in recent years it's hard to use the term undervalued, but I do think both Avengers 4 and Flash 123 are still underappreciated for their significance to continuity. (Sadly, continuity seems to be a lost art among comic creators, but that's another topic .) I actually like the DD1 cover. I think the 1964 guide quote summarized it best; DD came last, in 1964. It's a long time ago, but it's a world of difference between nobody seeing something coming and a handful of Phil Seuling's catching on to kids tracking down two-year-old comics. Considering the guide is an annual, I think that passage reports on 1963 happenings, as the two sept 1963 #1's (Avengers and X-Men) are also more plentiful than most earlier Marvel keys. They were the last two biggies before DD1; he's six or eight months later. Had Iron Man debuted in an Iron Man #1 rather than in TOS in May of '63, he may have been the first to get noticed by the early adapters. TOS 39 is on the bubble of that timeframe and probably was the last intro to catch the early collectors offguard. I love all my silver Marvel keys, but I think most of the market value difference among later vs earlier is owed to those first Marvel collectors. So many of our beloved characters are now iconic to so many through a decade or more of movies and merchandising; popularity (which ebbs and flows) is a factor, but I do think the foundation is copies extant.
  12. I bet you could kick then out pretty easily if you put them in a sales thread.
  13. Thank you; I was thinking that as well. It's amazing how books do get shared here, considering we are not that large of a population compared to auction house sites, eBay, etc. But as you said, even with a great deal, sometimes a book/lot sits because the right person just isn't in that audience. Likely the case here. But at this rate, someone might get a heck of a bargain in the next few hours by stumbling across it.
  14. Thx Jimmers! Anecdotally, my experience matches yours for commonality, so I was happy to get the set at once! The tougher ones have the better covers, but #1 has that Baker story...not a slouch in the line-up!
  15. In the meantime, I'll cover the person-in-cement gap...carry on!
  16. Bumping this because I can today....complete little three-issue pre-code run...
  17. I have a coverless 5 and a cover-detached 16 (square bound cardboard covers ran through 17, OSPG indicates) and both are stapled the same way. I think you're good, if I had to guess!
  18. Cross-posting this complete little pre-code run. Canadian publisher. Some Baker in #1.
  19. I'm headed to my bookshelf; haven't read that in a while...thanks!
  20. Happy to grab this whole little run in one shot -- bondage, gore, decapitation, torture, hypodermic needles -- all Wertham's favorites represented!
