  1. Up-and-down collecting week that ended well enough....missed everything I wanted from Day One of @Ricksneatstuff 's amazing thread because I held out for an "SA" collection I was supposed to see the next day. An alleged six boxes of Marvel silver turned out to be half a box and four boxes of copper So I passed. Undeterred, I added the following via eBay offers and a local estate collection.
  2. What a great book! Enjoy! I savored that thIng slowly.
  3. I believe this was one of the books that came in unopened distributor case quantities in the Robert Bell collection. Wouldn't be surprised if there's still significant raw quantities in Dolgoff or Koch's respective warehouses.
  4. I agree; looks like a cross between Harvey Pekar and Robert Crumb. Very cool, and WTTB @SerialGrape @oakman29 Thanks Dave; high praise from the king of Warren horror! @Aweandlorder I now need a Howard the Duck figure; thanks a lot! @Brando I'm confused; you don't think child abduction is creepy?
  5. Yeah, I honestly think it is hands down the creepiest cover in comics history. That said, as the pre-code guys discover this thread, you'll see all sorts of creepy and gory, such as the stark suicide cover I posted below it (the mirror makes that one) . But nothing creeps me out more than the Crime Does Not Pay #46.
  6. So many ways to define creepy and weird; here's two that come to mind given the OP's selection.
  7. I would agree; I only came up with the Legion based on OP's non-derivative parameters. Somebody just flagged earth 2; I like that as well. Significant as they are already, I still think Flash 123 (and Avengers 4 on the Marvel side) are underrated for their roles in bringing the golden age forward into then-modern continuity. (Yes, I know FF4 precedes Avengers 4, and Namor is important, but I think Cap is more pivotal in the Marvel universe over the years -- just explaining my point; I don't want to derail the thread.) Bottom line is I like the case for Earth-2 as an answer here even though it's not a single character but a concept.
  8. I completely agree! An awesome dude to deal such a book in trade! I had to stack a few things to pry it away...
  9. This just in via a trade with a great boardie!
  10. Thank you! It's all high school purchases/trades/gifts,so I don't either
  11. someone on here posted a group shot of about 125-150 raw ASM 361; can't remember who. Myself, I once had 50 copies of Elementals 1.... It was a long time ago.... Now, quantities are modest ... 2 and 3 of a few books. My Most slabbed is three ASM 300; most raw is five Iron Man #1.
  12. What a cool library! If you're not seeing it that way, you could probably sell certain ones and give away the rest on here; from my experience, they would get adopted.
  13. Inside a ship to outside a plane, in a pickle, on the Easter Egg
  14. That's what I thought too...figured he meant the unsold books...no, Andy?
  15. Is that True 18 the issue with the Amelia Earhart story? I can never remember the issue number.
  16. Cracking a beer and sitting in the bleachers over here...
  17. Closing up...continuing some ongoing PM discussions until promptly finalized either way, but thread proper is closing. Thanks all!
