It was one of those days where you're just happy to part with the cash. The two Atlas Seaboards complete my collection of that company's comics output, save for Vicki #2-4. I just hate ponying up for retooled Tippy Teens, but eventually I will. (It's a cool little slice of comics history that I have been chipping away at, at my convenience, hardly been a priority.) But both Lobos and some Matt Baker in the same deal, that makes me happy!

What's new in your Silver Age collection this week
Readcomix replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
He has an LCS in a small town, lots of younger collectors who are into card games as well. For a while, he liked having the Spidey up as eye candy, but once the regulars got to check it out he was willing to part with it for a small stack of lower price point books that would net him as much but move faster given his crowd. Perfect circumstances to make it work out -
Archie art: any fans and collectors here?
Readcomix replied to soulcage's topic in Original Comic Art
AND I should also point out that Patriot6, Cliff R and OdinsSecrets are responsible for this recent purchase....in a recent gold and silver sales thread, I offered one SA issue of B&V, leading immediately to the aforementioned Usual (Archie) Suspects asking if any more were coming....the answer was actually No, but rather than give it, I scoured my boxes and found a few late bronze/early copper Cheryl Blossom appearances, so I offered them. In trying to figure out how much to ask for an Everything's Archie #113, I stumbled across this, half the art from the "Archie the Barbarian" story in that issue. I really wanted page 4, but I figured what the heck. Thanks guys! (I even mean it!) -

Thanks to Patriot6 for pointing me to this thread Here's a DeCarlo Josie and the Pussycats story I picked up years ago: -
You're right, guys. I've seen a couple DD #1's with the last (non-story) page missing that were slabbed in a green label. Noticed them in Heritage results when I was trying to guesstimate value of a DD#1, same page missing, for a friend who had traded for one. Called CGC and asked and I recall they said it could go either way, .5 blue or green label with apparent grade, but I do note call the exact reasons for which they make the call. But the short answer is yes.

Really Newbie Question on FMV
Readcomix replied to mwgrodi's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Interesting. Not to derail the OP question, but did they say what they do use? -
Self-stick bags reek of late '90's crapola. The very sight of them makes me irrational.

Where, oh where might I find that???

There's also #48, first red and gold armor, so it's the beginning of the classic Iron Man look.

What are the general cutoff points for high, mid and low grade?
Readcomix replied to FSF's topic in Comics General
The .2 thing bothers me because it somehow only exists north of 9.0. I want a book that is labeled 6.4...or 7.8.... Actually, what I really want is the quintessential VG book, labeled "pi" with that squiggly little symbol where the number goes. That would be cool. -

Miss the days when you could actually trade
Readcomix replied to Shadow Images's topic in Comics General
I still trade quite a bit, and I do agree in person is easier. I find I am able to trade with certain business guys at retail for retail as long as I have taken the time to learn their particular local market. For example, I trade with a couple local LCs's that are as much or more gaming stores, and much of their comics markets are the cyclically hot movie keys. But GA sits for them; they trade it happily. It took me some time and trial and error, but I have built a network of shops and flippers each with slightly different ideas of "sweet spot" books that they can move. It's enjoyable when you can figure win/wins. -
You're right, but if it's the character I'm thinking of/been messaging with, it's a big lot of off-titles, he's in no man's land, and he wants a pretty penny. I've been watching various iterations/subsets of the same collection offered for a while, and he seems to be throwing the spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks. If we're talking about the same guy.

If it's a CL listing, it's common in this general region -- people will list in multiple neighboring categories such as Albany, Western Mass, Hudson Valley, etc. Matt, I could probably take a look somewhere in the next week if you have no takers yet. It may well be someone I have been in touch with already and dismissed based on messaging, but even so if I'm only looking because you sent me, I'm happy to honor your request if it works out. Feel free to PM me.

Congrats Mike! An all-time Grail and a bonus classic cover with a cult following! Well played! Kinda stinks that minor glue on GA isn't treated like tape. Feels more like that, from the sound of things, than what I think of as "resto."

Anybody got a centerfold for a Cap 17?
