1st superhero team-up. All Star 4, Marvel 17 or something else?

In a discussion about superhero team-ups in films the question arose of which team-up marked the first in comics.   I knew that MMC 8 was the first meeting of superheroes, but that was a fight, not a team-up.  And I knew that All Star 3 was the first meeting of a superhero team, but their first fight didn't occur until the next issue.   Then I remember Marvel Mystery 17 in which the Torch and Sub-mariner actually teamed up to fight together (in a story with the Japanese attacking the US forces.... in Alaska).    The dates on the marvel and the all star would seem to be close, and maybe somebody here knows them exactly.   And perhaps beyond that maybe someone here knows of an issue between then and the marvel 8-9 story which finds two or more heroes actually fighting as a team.

The Capt Marvel/Bulletman team-up in Master 21 is dated dec '41. That's at least in the first wave mix.

Ok, I have had a plan for kick starting that topic for a while...my bad...give me 5 minutes to rectify; be right back....

Done! I put it in Comics General, both to allot us options from any era (TONS of 90's sleepers!) and to put the pressure on us to keep at it, lest it fall off. Now, let's get it rolling  :headbang:and get back here to buy up Rick's books

  4. Betty or Veronica?

The eternal struggle....let's hash it out here, ad infinitum! Simple to play....any era; post a cover, interior, OA, what have you....that supports your case for Betty or Veronica.

"Vote" as often as you like; change your vote every time if you like! Let's post all the evidence here and let it speak for itself.

I will kick us off with a non-vote....Howie Post snuck a SA tribute to this very topic onto a DC cover. Here it is....let the battle begin!

Has there never been a thread entitled, "Betty or Veronica?", in which boardies debate the pros and cons of each gal?  Maybe there should be one...

  6. Congrats! Is this a one-off find, or is there a stash for sale somewhere?? Defenders was my childhood favorite for a long time, and I loved all of Nasser's work, though I think the total body of comics output was relatively minimal. I still think his Martian Manhunter is definitive.

Anyway, I digress. Congrats on an awesome cover from an underappreciated artist and an all-time great inker!  :headbang:

lol  Thanks,  I look forward to seeing that set also, unfortunately it won't be mine. :sorry:

Haven't you nailed a bunch of them in 9.8 recently? I thought this was the second time I saw a batch from you. Oh well, I'm losing my mind but at least there's still enough left to admire these!
