  1. Is 'yanking a chain' an American thing? Sounds fruity. I just wanted to know what 'clanging' was / had to do with it. Is that too much to ask Mark?
  2. What! Was the answer in the video? I only played half of it.
  3. Some niiiiice books. Tell me more about clanging and bags please
  4. Trouble? Trouble! That's fighting talk Robot Man! Note: I'm joking.
  5. for spiuder-man 121 insert encased, does it truley indicate common? and a price?
  6. I try to help when I can, but sometimes it's difficult to know who is genuine and who is just having a laugh. One red flag I see is the 'spelling mistakes / missing words' scenario. So here we have "Can they tell my book variant" instead of "Can CGC tell if my book is a variant?" The missing words occur so frequently in newbie thread titles that you think one one of three things: 1. It's the same person(s) winding us up (characterised by the oddly phrased question and the OP never posts again) 2. It's someone for whom English is not their main language (and they may well have made an excellent fist of their question!) 3. It's a five year old To avoid offending anyone it would help if we knew everyone's age, location, and had a clue if they were foreign speaking. @Todd jones - Todd, if you're still with us, and if you're prepared to do so, would you tell us how old you are and whether English is your first language? Absolutely no offence meant to you in any way, but you can hopefully see where we're coming from?
  7. This was on in the UK today in a compilation episode, first time I'd seen it. I love the show and whilst I don't believe for one minute that Danielle is on the phone giving them picks while they're driving I do think the places they go to are unstaged in terms of content. Sometimes I look at my 'stuff' and think, 'what a lot of nice things I have'. Then I see some of these guys out on farms in the States with barns 30 times the size of my house filled to the brim with stuff. You can't stage that. In the version I saw the owner wanted 8, they offered 4 and a half and shook on it. If this is true and unstaged, what must that guy think now! And my God did he have some stuff. Why would you sell your AF 15 though if you had all that stuff and, presumably, knew its worth and loved it? Could they have staged the sale for the cameras I wonder? In other words, bought it just for the show but the guy obviously didn't sell it? As I say, I only saw an edited compilation so maybe there's more to the story. Great show though. Part of my job at the moment includes collecting donations in support of an animal charity. An old couple last week gave me a box of comics and a dusty old LP box. The comics were all Alan Class reprints and were in a shocking state. Lots to read, if I can get the dust off of them but worth nothing (no AF15 reprint copy alas)! The LPs though included some really rare stuff and at first thought I thought we'd do very well. Ebay seemed to indicate they were worth hundreds (Led Zeppelin early releases etc). My plan was to take them to a record dealer we use and, if he gave us hundreds, take half back to the old couple. I saw Frank and Mike do this once - take money back to the owner when they made a bomb - and the guy cried he was so taken aback. Turns out each LP was scratched to oblivion and all I got was £120 (I say all, that's a days takings in some of our shops). So not enough to split with the donators and I gave it to our shop which takes the least. Good day for them and it was fun doing the research. Picking in the US seems so glamorous. 'Dagenham Pickers' would, I suspect, be less so....
  8. Hi Dena, I started this self explanatory poll just under a week ago and 63 respected board members have voted. Here are the results at the time of writing: Would you be able to bring this to the attention of the CGC executive team for us please? What we would like is for them to post an update here in relation to the 'Newton Ring' problem which is troubling many of us as the results of the poll clearly show. There have been a number of threads about the problem recently, some of which include third hand accounts of CGC team members feelings, but there is no definitive statement which sets out what CGC's official position is. Is this something you can do on behalf of those that have voted? I'm working on the assumption that the Admin Team have contacts with the CGC Exec, given that you administer their website. It would be great if a message could be posted here in the announcements forum or perhaps on the main website? Thanks for your help @dena
  9. There are no Canadian price variants for this date I'm afraid. Only a 7p pence variant exists of this book. Every cents copy is the same. All are 25c, all are newsstand as direct editions hadn't started yet. Sorry. The only difference here is the stamp on the cover. CGC would likely ignore that. Not worth submitting in this grade. Morbius is good though isn't he
  10. Who's the beardy chap in the supreme hat then? I liked the boys in black and white. You should never change your avatar. It confuses me and everything.
  11. Hello Todd! Tell me again why you think this is a variant? A stamp doesn't make it a variant? What am I missing?
  12. Cool isn't it Nice to see guys getting along. @TheFifthHorseman - bring back the boys!
  13. Thanks for voting evilskip, and for adding your opinion. 59 votes so far. Will we make 100?
  14. Thanks Gnash! I see see a Chip and Dale on there which is the first pence copy I've seen for that title. Good man
