  1. What I was thinking Roy, in the redesign in my head, was an inner holder laying flat - in fact pressed against the back of an outer holder. Then, raised ridges around the front of the inner holder keep it a millimeter or two away from the front of the outer case. The inner locks in place. So you may get Newton rings on the back. But not the front. I can envisage the overall case being the same depth more or less as the existing cases. The benefit, no rings on the front of the case. It's engineered to stop it. The appearance of your comic in its holder is a major feature / benefit of encapsulation. To have a design which allows a visual disturbance is highly undesirable. Next up, a car with a blurry wind shield.
  2. That's super Cal, a magic hit of mixed book sale promotions
  3. I tell you, if I needed to go badly enough Thor, Odin and Thanos combined would not beat me to the pan! That's not the throne you meant was it.
  4. Beauty parade of the books I currently own They're extremely hard to find, so if anyone has any, please dive in! I'll update this thread as new ones come to light @porcupine48 Super Duck Jim!
  5. Of the titles with no pence books yet found, these three are all 'Giant 25c' issues: Adventures of Little Archie Archie's Pals n Gals Katy Keene Pin Up Parade I suspect they will not have pence copies, but we shall see as Morlar once said. The others I'm hoping will turn up over time...
  6. Hello! If you follow my pence threads you know the drill by now. If not, look them up from my signature line below - a guaranteed roller coaster of fun and excitement awaits you I was going to put this all in my Other Publisher's thread, but decided to give Archie Boy his own one while he makes his mind up over the blonde vs brunette conundrum (Brunette! Every time) Here's a pence book to start - Archie's Pal Jughead #60 from May 1960 (everything pence always starts in May 1960): For the uninitiated, it's a first printing copy of the US original with a 9d price plate switch. Same press, same printer, same time next week. Unless anyone knows better of course? Price looks like this up close: And the indicia is the same as the US version, with no indication that this is a UK bound copy other than the price: I don't yet know who distributed them - Thorpe & Porter, L Miller etc - but I have found a number of later cents copies with LM stamps so I'm going to assume it's Miller for the time being. Both Miller and T&P usually added additional details to the indicias of their early imports but not so here with the Archie titles. Here's a later cents with a killer Miller stamp: If we look at the chart... ...we can see: 15 pence copies found so far 9 titles with confirmed pence copies found: Adventures of Pipsqueak Adventures of The Fly Adventures of Super Duck Archie Archie's Joke Book Archie's Madhouse Archie's Pal Jughead Laugh Pep No pence copies found so far for the remaining eligible titles of: Adventures of Little Archie Archie's Girls Betty and Veronica Archie's Pals n Gals Jughead Fantasy Katy Keene Katy Keene Pin Up Parade Life with Archie The only cover dates copies have been found for are March 1960 to August 1960 So it looks like, at the moment, whoever did the distributing with printed 9d prices only did it for 6 months. As ever, no rhyme nor reason to it, as Miller did two years with Charlton and a year and a bit with Marvel (albeit with both pence and cents prices) I'll speculate a little more later, and compare these results to those of Marvel, DC, Charlton, King and Dell. Lots of symmetry, and lots of bafflement!
  7. Cheers Jim! When you look at the updated chart, it's easy to see why you'd put your money on certain books not existing:
  8. Ok, he's next Jim. 2morra though. He's having his dinner at the minute. Cheese and chocolate sandwiches. Sorry for the wait Jim! Here's a few pence copies of dat mouse ATOMIC MOUSE!
  9. Does anyone use the new coloured dividers? Very nice red ones here, they go well with the Charlton colouring I've got my dymo ready too - only 75 titles to print
  10. Or, cunningly devise a way for the faces of the two materials to not touch. Some kind of perimeter ridge around the inner well maybe Next up, a man on the moon.
  11. Newton ring can be quite painful. Carefully prise the newt from your ring, place him in a sealed - but not air tight - container, and then apply a soothing balm to the ring to reduce any inflammation. A further tip is to buy elasticated pants to prevent newts from accessing your ring in the future.
  12. I'd have put a comic box on the baby. See how she likes it.
