What really is restoration???
Get Marwood & I replied to Sluggo's's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Sadly, that sounds quite likely to me Mr Z, and supports the theory I expressed earlier that bindery tears on moderns are 'ignored' to allow the 9.8 factory to chug merrily away. Here's one for you Mr Z. I have to say upfront that I don't follow discussions about pressing, so I may be about to repeat old views or talk uninformed rot. If a book could 'benefit from a press' then that can only mean that there is something structurally wrong with it that can be seen with the naked eye. If so, and the press improves the appearance of the book, that can only mean that it has hidden or reduced the previously visible flaw. The flaw still exists at molecular level presumably. How does that increase the grade, and not represent restoration? -

Only time will tell, but my suspicion is 'yes' -
Now of course Ken, that post above would have had a picture of Oor Wullie in it, but when I went to add it I got this: So I couldn't post this: Probably because of this: Remind me Ken, did Arch lock the 'I hate the new boards' thread? I can't remember

Is Konga ever calm though Ken? I mean, you only have to start singing "everybody Kon-gah, everybody Kon-gah" and off he goes like a 100 ton mad ape flinging his poo everywhere with Gay Abandon. Unless Gay's off somewhere else of course. I mean, look at him Ken: Would you ever call that calm? The only time I ever saw Konga calm was when Oor Wullie sang him a lullaby. I always thought that was good of Wullie, as his time is precious - don't forget, he's not only oor Wullie, and your Wullie, but he's also abody's Wullie. It must be hard for him.

King Comics UK Price Variants

No post today, my love has gone awayThe company was gay, we turn'd night into day Here, do you know what they call Postman Pat when he retires? Snigger What? I've done that one all ready? Bugger. Anyway, no post today, so no Archie pence updates. I have made a start on Gold Key though, and it's looking like a 'task of the woolly mammoth' as Poirot would say. So I may be gone some time on that subject. It will be interesting to see whether they end up competing with DC / Charlton on the numbers Wish me luck.... -

It's D-Day! In this case, the 'D' stands for 'descriptions'. Let's look at the descriptions of the gun fire noises we have on the cover of our inaugural edition here. We have: ZING! PING! ZIIP! BEEOOW! SPLAT! ZIP! (note, only one 'I' this time. Don't tell Marwood) My favourite is 'BEEOOW!' as it sounds very bullet whizzing by like, don't you think? BEEOOW! BEEOOW! Nice. It's the only pence copy for this title of course, just scraping in before the December 63 lock: There was quite a long wait for a number 2 to appear (Fall 64), which reminds me of that time I ate too many grapes and a whole malt loaf in one foolish sitting. Nowadays, I try to rule that out of my life Anyway, 'D-Day' #1 Aint she nice BEEOOW! -

No, but I'm watching them on the telly Use the tractor beam. It was time for them to keep their appointment with the Wicker Man. In her twisted girl brain. What, the comics? -

But what if you've been captured by omnipotent aliens, and they're forcing you to race against a horse for their own amusement? If you lose, all humanity will be exterminated. Can you beat a horse too many times then? -

I bet Cynthia Doyle could take her in a bare knuckle fist fight. Although Betsy Crane would likely take em both at the same time, being registered and all. -
Heh heh, thanks. I don't mind the odd variant. Most of my threads are about them, albeit older price ones. But I don't like the moderns that proliferate like rabbits on heat, often with poorly conceived covers with no relevance to character or content, and that are priced artificially high from the off. I certainly don't like to see otherwise respectable dealers encouraging eye wateringly off pricing.

Ah, bless you Glassman, bless you. I do like your way with words! Keep going, we're barely half way through. Hundreds to come my friend, hundreds! And if you like this, try some of the other threads in my signature links below. A right pair of unpopular cretins and their dog used to run them I'll let @lizards2 deal with the iguana bit... -
