  1. Some people's signatures fill a whole page! They all get turned off. Some are great though, and they give you a clue what interests the owner. I like ones with links to interesting threads / websites etc and those with great lines of cool books. They must be sized right though - no one likes uneven pictures I'm on my phone now, so no 'how to' pictures I'm afraid, but once you've turned off a person's sig you can turn it back on by going to 'ignored users' under settings. And creating a sig is as easy as creating a post. Try it. Anything you do you can amend or delete. Settings , signature settings, and you'll find a nice big square to fill with words, pics, gifs and links. Have a go Mark!
  2. Sooper. Miller thread's me favourite, if you're up for a spell of reading
  3. Yup. Select 'Signature Settings' from Settings as below: Turn the 'View Signatures' button (shown below) to on / green: You'll then see what everyone has. Mine looks like this: Once on, you can turn individual ones off (e.g. if they're enormous / horrible, as many are) by ticking this button just under the like button: Let me know how you get on!
  4. That's a tough story, with several tough elements. Selling...they were your Dads...and Darryl got them all. Bugger and thrice bugger. But it was necessary at the time, hindsight is what it is, and try to find a crumb of comfort in the fact that we've all done similar.
  5. I joke about the 'tedium' of it all often. Well, the cretin Marwood does anyway. Truth be told, I love it
  6. Thanks for the kind words Gaard! If you have signatures turned on, there are links to my DC and Miller Pence threads and my Font Variant thread just under the pretty picture. You might enjoy those too. Charlton is next up. It's going to knock the Marvel one for six(d)
  7. Drat, I missed your 8,000th post Ken. What paper do you read now?
  8. Yes, it is a reprint, but not of a Marvel title is what I meant. American Comics Group, I think.
  9. Yes, our posts crossed PP. I look for patterns in my variant research (Miller / Pence etc). Sometimes they're there to find, and hold fast. Often they don't. There's always a book that 'messes up' the pattern. 168 titles follow a date gap, one title sits in it! As well as only being these six titles, I think it's also likely that no title will have more than four books. ASM #14 surely does not exist. Probably, FF #22 doesn't either, ditto X-Men #97. So each has four books, but out of date sequence. It's odd that they're out of sequence I guess, but as I say, that's not uncommon in my experience. If there are more to find, they will likely be the ones missing on the chart I put together, excluding those I note above. That can be good news in a way, as it makes the set attainable. I'll end by saying my usual 'never say never' - if someone proves us wrong - if we prove us wrong - I'll be delighted. But I really feel we're not going to find any more outside of these six titles. I may try writing to Marvel again. They ignored my previous contact. It's not that long ago, and there must be records or someone still living who will know what was done, and why. Onwards!
  10. Does it have to make sense? Maybe they just picked 6 titles for a test of some sort. It doesn't make sense to plan a 4 (5 TBC) month test and then have double size 2.99 books in the middle of it either. But it's the case. The titles are all fairly high profile characters. Spidey, Hulk, X-Men, Thor, FF. Was Cable popular then? He's the only arguably 'lesser' title. There are scores of other titles in the date range. Why haven't any of us found a variant for one of them? We've almost completed the set for these six titles, but not one book from another title has been found. And some of us have been looking for years. That's surely too much of a stretch isn't it? Maybe the scenario is as simple as a six title test run, mucked up by double sized books in the middle of it. It doesn't have to be all titles.
  11. @PeterPark - thanks for the two new Hulk / Thor find pics! I'm glad you've joined the hunt Here's the updated chart showing all 26 issues we've found to date: No dancing banana's this time (although I love the way the 24th banana is out of sink with the other 23 above - well, he is on my screen anyway) Peter, FD @FlyingDonut, what do you think to my theory that these six titles are the only ones that received the variant treatment? How much longer can we keep filling in the blanks on this spreadsheet before it starts to look like that's it? What do you think?
  12. I'm the victim of a printing error liz! I like printing errors though, so that's OK.
  13. I know liz, I was being funny. Well, trying. Back cover is blank you see, no need for CT. Moving on! Buyer didn't say where the CT was. They could have been lying for all I know. They had good feedback as I recall, so I had no reason to doubt them. All part of the learning experience
  14. You should work for CGC liz. You've got a knack for bursting bubbles Being a Canadian copy, I'm fairly sure any CT wasn't on the back:
  15. Blimey, yes, that takes me back liz. Pilgrimages to far out shops that were shut on arrival
  16. Lock up your daughters! Billy May and Doctor Wheazle are hitting the town! (How much for the pence books ) They're often only rash in hindsight. Who knew they'd go up like they have? And don't get me started on that house I sold in 2000
  17. The key thing here, as said by many already, is to communicate. Things happen, often innocently, and all you need to do is talk reasonably and sort it out. Hopefully that will happen here at some point. Restoration can be a funny thing I find. I sold this ASM #1 Canadian annual on eBay many moons back: I bought it as unrestored in good faith. I sold it as unrestored, in good faith. The buyer received it and was happy with it. Then they sent it to CGC and it came back a PLOD due to colour touch. Buyer was then unhappy. We agreed on a partial refund and he gave me a lecture on the importance of disclosing restoration. This really irked me as I didn't see it, the person I bought it from didn't see it and on first receipt the new owner didn't see it. One dot of ink and everything is soured. Can you see it?
  18. I agree - 1986 to 1990, there were comic shops everywhere in Englandville. Wish that were still the case...
