  1. There's something satisfyingly appropriate about someone called 'ender' disapproving of an overuse of Wonder Woman's bottom
  2. 1) Quite right too 2) Eh? Who was Spider-Man supposed to be?
  3. Ah, come on Roy. The posts that don't interest you may interest others, at the very least those that posted them, so why voice a negative opinion about it when you then go on to voice a complaint about people voicing negative opinions? Be fair buddy. I don't see an issue with negative opinions being expressed, as long as they are backed up by people who've actually seen the film. I thought BvS and JL were quality productions. Homecoming was poo though. And I thought there was something not right about Cavill's mush too (I didn't read this thread to avoid spoilers so didn't know about the moustache)
  4. Ha! Here's a blast from the past. I think I've mentioned once or thrice that I have a terrible memory. I may have mentioned it yesterday, and forgotten. So if you ever see me repeat something, you'll know why. So if you ever see me repeat something, you'll know why. The pic above is a timely reminder of what the boards used to look like. I do miss the heading of the thread which used to appear at the top of each post, and the link so you always knew what the poster was responding to. And that Sparky fellow was a bit chippy wasn't he? Calmed down a bit now though. Sort of. Anyway, I see all the pictures have gone as a result of the photobucket incident. I'll have to replace them at some point. Meanwhile... Number 3 in a series of 2 Those in the know of the knowing know all knowledge will know that a limited number of copies of the Amazing Spider-Man #245 had an advertising insert in them for 'Bubblicious / Maxell Cassettes'. Those in the know knew that this was in the Direct Edition. But those in the true knowing of the complete know all knowledge knew that it was in the Newsstand Edition too. What a thing to know. Be sure to pop back in a years time for more 'things you might not know that you might not know. Or that you know'
  5. They used it here, without the white. A bit more colourful isn't it:
  6. Cheers J. I got 139 of the 140 666's in the end. Mac's was the missing one as I recall. I think the rot set in when my LCS wanted £350 for the Ditko 700. I thought I'd hold out, to see if it dropped in value (it was never going to be the end was it!) and then we had 49 or so variants of the v3 relaunch. Most of them were bad covers and I just thought it was time to bail. I did think about keeping the 700 set, but if you're a completist you kind of want everything and can be a bit all or nothing sometimes. So I went for nothing. 8,000 Spidey comics, including a few thousand ASM, whittled down to 30 books left and a few bits of original art. That's all I now have to show I was once a comic nutter. Oh, and a few shabby pence books relating to my pence / Miller research.
  7. I have heard this also, as well as a rumor that the "full" cover did appear in a promotional ad at some point, but I have yet to see that picture, or had the time to track it down.
  8. That's three of the worst attempts at 'live long and prosper' that I've ever seen Ken
  9. I sold them all J - every single one. It's no big deal. Comics are like that, you collect, you sell, you collect again etc. I purchased the holy trinity (667, 678, 688) for the equivalent of $15 each when they first came out. 667 is supposed to be so scarce, yet I picked mine up from my tiny local comic shop in England! How does that work? I sold the three for roughly $2,000. At the time, that was a ridiculous amount. If someone had told me that they would escalate to more than that amount each, I and probably anyone else would've said they were barmy. Modern books tended to get really hot, then really cool, really quickly. But these 3 bucked the trend. It happens. I came to the boards late, after I'd sold everything. If I'd have joined sooner, I may have kept some as I'd have been able to bask in the glow with other collectors. None of my UK friends like comics, it's a singular hobby for me, so I had no one to 'bounce off' of if you see my point. I don't get too fussed about it now - other things have taken over in my life and I'm just happy that I owned them and, at one point, probably had the most complete ASM collection in the world (not the best, but possibly the most complete - pence, cents, AUS, CAN, variants, MJI etc etc). It was never about the money for me, but financially, turning $45 into $2,000 was great. But I sold AF15 in a 7.0 for £70 when I was a teenager to buy clothes so you can't get hung up on that. I had a ball collecting them, and a ball selling them. And I made more than I spent, so it worked out ok. All that said, when I look at these old records......
  10. Well said. Any serious dealer will mention every issue with a key comic if they want to encourage happy customers and repeat business. If they fail, for example, to mention significant chipping on an unseen back cover, the buyer will be rightly upset. The fact that original art is a one of a kind item should not excuse the seller from mentioning all condition related aspects whether they are to be expected for the time period or not. It's a great piece, all original, but the third panel is pasted on. Etc. There have been a few threads lately about these kind of things. What should be disclosed, front and back scans, how to pack for shipping etc. In every case the answer has been blindingly obvious to me. Maybe the Conan art thread saga will lead to a change in how things are done. Some things aren't obvious until someone points them out.
  11. That's interesting. I like to hear from people with actual experience of the process as it was back in the day. Wouldn't it be great if some old timer wandered in with all the answers. "Sure pardner, I can tell you which books were printed first. And why those font variations exist too..."
  12. I only looked in to see if the con was dead and all I've got is a 99 with a flake.
