  1. Nobody likes a builders bum. And no wise cracks. I do like fabulously low grade old books though, so keep going Harry
  2. I went early afternoon, so managed to stay awake. I have a reputation for being able to sleep on demand however, and on a clothes line if needed, so it did well to hold my attention
  3. Life has a habit of surprising you when you least suspect it and your hobbies can sometimes start to seem unimportant. But often, they can be the glue that keeps you going once the dust has settled and you find yourself with time on your hands. You seem to have a good attitude to it all @telerites so I hope things go well for you in all respects. As Clint used to say, "fair's got nothing to do with it", so we battle on.
  4. Anything goes in this thread Buzz, it's just an opportunity to post nice pictures really. I had a few 252 variations back in the day - here's a few of them (Define999 probably has a rake of foreign ones):
  5. Hulk does not understand minus one comic. How can comic be minus one? Minus one is not a number in Hulks view. Hulk no like gimmick comic. May smash. Both of them.
  6. Hulk run out of likes @Jayman. Hulk sorry. Hulk has raised with staff of board. Hulk waiting for reply. ....waiting...
  7. @Scott =) @Architecht Hulk try to like posts in Hulks thread below to thank members for their kindness to Hulk : When Hulk click on like options, Hulk see this : Hulk selects smiling face. Picture shows Hulks selection of smiling face. Then Hulk click on smiling face and see this : Picture make it look like Hulks selection has registered. Then Hulk click page refresh and Hulk see that smiling face like has not registered. This make Hulk angry. : Hulk try again and nothing work. Hulk used to get error message when likes limit reached. Now, Hulk does not get error message. Hulk may miss unregistered likes because message does not come up now. Hulk no like unregistered likes. May smash. Hulk invite staff of board to clarify position to Hulk. Hulk also request more likes, so Hulk can like all kind posts from kind members, and not run out. Hulk is waiting now, for response from staff of board. Hulk does not like waiting though. Hulk accept staff of board take weekend off. But staff of board back Monday, and Hulk will be waiting. Staff of board better not disappoint Hulk.
  8. Puny child pretend to be Hulk. Hulk tolerate, as Hulk like puny children. Children kind to Hulk, speak to Hulk on Hulks level. Not like adult humans who try to hurt Hulk. Hulk smash them.
  9. Hulk like Trimpe depiction of Hulk. Trimpe depiction true Hulk. Will not be bettered.
  10. Hulk like this cover. Cover makes Hulk feel nostalgic for time when Hulk was happy. Hulk kept this cover from sell off and put on wall in frame. Hulk has many foes, yes. .....And Hulk smash them all.
  11. I just saw the film this evening and I agree with you completely. I loved the mood, enjoyed the story and really felt that the only issue I had was the run time. Maybe it is only under-performing from a financial perspective. The first film 'bombed' financially and look how that is now regarded by those who can think further than the next fight scene. I think the film is a success, in the same way that Morrissey records are a success. Neither are aimed at the market which generates multi-billions, as both require you to think. The run time was fine in my view. More time to think, immerse, admire.....
  12. Trivial? Trivial! Release the hounds! I can see your point in a way @catman76, there is something a little odd about collecting multiples of the same book over, say, the same number of different books. But I do think collecting variations of the same book goes to the heart of the collecting spirit. The desire to have everything of something is a common, powerful instinct I feel. Also, when you have exhausted the regular stuff, variations are a natural way to continue the hobby you love. It can be illogical, yes, but I can honestly say that I would be more excited to find the rare variant of a book I already had in a long box at a fair than I would to find a regular, dare I say, boring old 'key'. Having owned everything and sold everything Spider-Man related, the only thing that I find interesting now is the pursuit of the off the radar, unknown stuff. Hence all those crappy threads I have made where I bang on about 'trivial' price variants, font variations and distributor indicias. I'd like other people to find it as interesting as I do, but I accept that they don't and carry on doing my thing outside the circle while everyone else mucks about in it. That's been my life. "Each to his own" this girl at work used to say to me. That really used to get on my nerves though, as a saying. I just don't like the words. OCD takes many forms.....
  13. Yes. Bill will always be Hulk. Bill had innate goodness. Hulk go now D-Optimist. Meteor shower due. Hulk like watching stars. Like Bixby. Hulk thanks D-Optimist for being kind to Hulk. Good night D-Optimist.
  14. Oops. Sorry. Lord Summerisle was top right on my desktop. You must be looking on your phone. This is Jeremy Brett playing a cocky young upstart in The Medusa Touch. I like the film so much I made a thread about it (see my kudos link )
  15. Hulk like. Comic looks as beaten up as Abomination did after he try to nick Hulks Howard the Duck collection. No one can touch Hulks Howard the Duck collection. Unless they want to be smashed that is.
  16. ...assuming that's top right on your screen of course!
  17. It's time to keep your appointment, with The Wicker Man....
  18. Hulk like post from @D-Optimist. D-Optimist kind to Hulk. Hulk also like bachelor party. Yes. Bachelor party. Mmmm. Hulk would like to see beat up copy, yes. Hulk like beat up things. Like Hulks foes. Beaten up.
  19. Good shout. I felt the same way about Spider-Girl and about 2,000 Spidey appearance books worth tuppence. Get rid
  20. Cor, don't they look good. I like the blue background 344s fourth and seventh from the left bottom row.
  21. We're quite similar in this respect @SOTIcollector I have a list of my remaining stuff which I keep in my "I'm dead" file for my wife should I shuffle off the mortal coil unexpectedly. Every year I update it with the latest price I think each book could go for and I keep that with a flash drive of front and back scans along with detailed descriptions. I've included a list of dealers who could help, and explained how they would only offer a percentage of the value. Or she can leave it with my nephew or, if he survives me, my brother. Keeping track of AM 15 is tough though. I may have to do monthly updates on that! As things stand though, I may sell soon anyway so there'll be nothing left. I got a lot of fun out of the big sell off, and freeing yourself from a mountain of comics is strangely liberating.
  22. I would say no Hector. If you check eBay, low grade copies go for comparatively small sums so I don't personally think it would be worth it after the cost of pressing and grading etc. If you love it, keep it. If you paid a dollar for it, and have no attachment to it, you could make a hundred dollars or so profit if you graded it and sold it. Depends on your starting point.
