  1. A-ha! A new dimension to the thread - comics in films and TV shows! Excellent. More please - chop chop!
  2. Cool, thanks for the info David. I think one of the Double Double comics I saved a scan of from eBay had Marvel interiors too, so they're clearly a wonderful oddity. The fact that the content differs makes them virtually uncollectable though if you have a 'completist' mentality. You can collect all 24 covers, but the insides? No way of knowing what permutations exist Your Canadian DC newsstand research sounds interesting - why not create a thread on the boards? It's not something I know anything about, but I do like variants of all kinds so I'd follow it
  3. I feel so bad for you @Eggman The fact that you and your family are safe is the main thing as everyone has noted, but from one collector to another I can only imagine how you must feel. It's not just the books themselves, it's the effort you put into collecting them and all your associated records and mementos. What a truly rotten thing. I hope you can enjoy rebuilding, once you and your family are settled. My very best wishes to you.
  4. The ASM 666 I mentioned at the start of the thread probably wins the day at 144 'official' versions, but I love to see any pile of similar books, so keep posting
  5. Stickers are cool Craig, yes. Unless of course they are the immovable kind found on the back of a Comic Link CGC win
  6. Thank you Carl. It's always humbling to have ones efforts acknowledged. My intention was to invoke Spider-Mans adhesive abilities by channelling a Lowryesque 'stick' body and, in doing so, provide commentary to the viewer on the general fragility of human existence.
  7. I'm off to see it tomorrow. I've avoided this thread so I can approach it fresh. BR is one of my all times favourites so I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations. In the meantime, some stuff relating to the old one I found while looking for Spidey scans
  8. I've run out of likes! I've a feeling you're going to keep this thread going for some time @wormboy, well done mate. I'm still winning on six copies of the same book though! Come on!
  9. Another 143 set, blue and purple: 159 missing black makes one look blue and the other purple: More subtle on these 121's - look at the 'Marvel Comics Group' banners:
  10. This man has taste Andru is my favourite, but Romita clearly set the bar. Here are three of my favourites of his: Andru inside, Romita outside
  11. What do you mean comic pictures "not TTA"? Hulk no like. TTA does not have to be title specific to Hulks thread. More general description of comics Hulk in - tales that astonish because Hulk is in them, and Hulk is the strongest there is. Do not make Hulk angry or Hulk will smash your face in. Hulk mean it. Smash. Hulk like 168 interior. Interior give Hulk horn.
  12. Hulk find more. Show now. Smash later. Farts subsided by the way. No more beans for Hulk for a while.
  13. Ta. It's just how I feel about it Craig. I hope some of my threads here show that I'm one of the biggest Spidey fans going, so it gives me absolutely no pleasure to feel this way about the film. I loved Batman vs Superman though, so I'm used to being on the 'opposing' side
  14. Thanks @wormboy ! I've saved your comment to last (I didn't realise so many people had posted here!) because your sets there are FANTASTIC! I think we're kindred spirits wormboy - the love of multiples and variations. And you like your Whitmans too! What a splendid fellow you must be, with a splendid collection. Post more of it my friend, post more
  15. Not technically the same comic, but the same cover image so I'm happy to see them here @Hudson If anyone else is watching, show us any multiples of the same cover image too. They're cool. I'm still winning on 6 though
  16. Of course they count @Gaard! Nothing wrong with a blue and purple - I've done the same myself in the past:
  17. Fair point, but the threads just for fun. Any excuse to see people's cool multiple copies really. Don't hold back - post away
  18. Hello @David Buck, thanks for dropping by. It's nice to see someone else is interested in DC pence variants and I'm not sure how I managed to miss your thread, given how recent it is? The boards search engine is a little temperamental though, so maybe that's it. I'll check through your list later to see if we have the same number ranges - if we do, this will be a good indication that our research has sound conclusions. Here's Ghosts 66 - not the best image going, but enough until I find a better one (I'm actively working to replace all images which aren't up to a certain standard): I know what you mean about Claw #10. I found the DC research much easier than my Marvel research, firstly due to there being less DC's to find (839 DC vs 3,007 Marvel), but mostly due to their dates being a lot more recent. There are some early pence copies I have found where I have only seen one example in 5 years of looking. So I never say 'never' when it comes to a books existence, only whether it is likely based on comparative information and the time spent looking. Here's a nice Claw #10 anyway: Thanks for the Superman III info. I did have a copy of one of the variations saved in my 'oversize' file, but I haven't gotten round to any extensive research on them yet. I did the Treasury size books in my Marvel pence thread recently. Pop across and have a look if you're interested. One other area I've been pondering are the 'Double Double' books, where Thorpe & Porter surreptitiously sold remaindered copies of the US titles with new UK covers. There are 24 I believe, and I have scans of all of them so I may do a piece on them here at some point. Obviously they aren't full first print DC pence price variants but a large percentage of them is! Anyway, thanks again for diving in. Always good to talk to a fellow pence person
