  1. John Morlar cordially invites you to join him in a spectacular countdown of Amazing Spider-Man Pence Price Variants set to the coolest tunes in town. Be there, or be circular. "Hello again. Sorry about the interference there..."
  2. Cool. I shall be reading this one for sure Grantley. What a great cover. And hey, this is my 1,000th post - what better thread to post it in!
  3. OK Arch, thanks. Lazyboy had pointed the URL aspect out elsewhere, and I do use that now. Cheers
  4. Hello @G.A.tor, you have a lovely thread here. Very informative and entertaining. Forgive me, but does your expertise extend to Silvery questions like why do price fonts vary on early Marvels : Or maybe you might know someone who knows someone who knows? Thanks
  5. I would imagine that a lot of delicate flowers would get very batey and then seek to open cans of "he said she said" whup-ass all over the place. Eventually, we would all sink in a sea of recrimination, accusation, consternation and constipation. I suspect that you and I would be at the front of the queue in that world JSJ, no?
  6. Despite its basic nature, to the British it is one of the most significant forms of humour. This morning I had a particularly extreme experience with it. Unbelievably powerful. I can't pin down the underlying cause, but that doesn't matter, because I know I'll eventually look back on today as one of the happiest days of 2017. Coincidentally @Ken Aldred, given the thread, I just did an @Unca Ben @lizards2 post response, and blew coffee out of my nose when I read your post Still, at least it was my nose I blew it out of....
  7. @kryptospidey, you might enjoy this thread too - it has a related 'UK' theme:
  8. Thanks @kryptospidey I managed to get two issues on the 'missing' list this weekend - Kid Colt #91 and 96 (scans below) This means we now have 2,995 confirmed pence printed issues: I'm hoping the existence of the 91 means that 90 and 92-95 also exist, so will keep looking out for them. That would take us to a round 3,000 comics. Here's the updated 'missing' list: Dive in if you have a pence copy of any of these. Oh, and here are my two lovely Kids: Aren't they good looking kids! Enjoy!
  9. So in instances like this, the books (e.g. ASM 42 and 43) just weren't sold in the UK or were they sold as regular U.S. cents issues? If not sold at all, that must have been a little hard on UK fans to miss two issues out of a book's continuity. The US copies were imported during the gaps so you got your comic in the end. I've added a scan of my old stamped copy of #42 below. Over here, you'll only ever see US cents copies or stamped US cents copies:
  10. None taken Kav. Now I think about it, it's a fair point. I'll just have to keep my own tally ??

  12. If there is an age at which farting ceases to be funny I haven't reached it yet ?
  13. If I didn't already have a scan of one, I'd be on it!
  14. Yeah, it does. I get the old style comment. If you put it next to the stylised McFarlane art it can look 'dated'. I like dated though, in most aspects of life. And I'm as far away from stylised as you'll get!
  15. i'm just glad that I'M not the but of your jokes, oh no did I step in it? Do I look like the kind of bloke who'd take on a bloke with them claws?
  16. ...yes, and they're already covered in sheite....
  17. I would have demanded a refund. Me too. Unless I was low on toilet paper that is
  18. Oh boy! What is it about his art that you don't like guys? Seriously. To me, that's like saying you don't like breathing or something?
  19. I'll send you two the full letter by PM tomorrow. Ditko's a cranky one alright, but I'm convinced he gets a kick out of sending these replies.
  20. I'm with NamesJay - it makes you feel like you're not posting in the dark when you get a 'proper' like (i.e. one where the person leaving it is simply showing appreciation for what you said rather than trying to follow some agenda). I didn't like the likes at first (being serious for once) as the anonymity and misuse didn't work for me. Now the anonymity has been put right, and I've got over myself re the misuse, I'm fine with them and indeed use them often. I do prefer to leave a comment if I can, but I'm OK leaving just a like now as I know the recipient knows it's me leaving it. I don't think the system is working as the powers that be envisaged it would, but that's not a reason to dislike it in my view. We're the members and we can use it as we want to, as long as its within board rules. I don't see it as a means to promote 'valuable' posts. Just a means to say "Hey, I like what you did there, thanks". It can lift spirits, especially for newbies who sometimes get little encouragement. Last night I was in stupid mucking about mode, trying to get 100 posts in one day to change my board title (yes, I'm a plonker, I know, I just hope an occasionally amusing one). I went ages without a single response and was getting deflated. No one wanted to play. Then Spike gave me a like out of the blue and, perhaps bizarrely for a grown man, my mood went straight back up. Call me soppy if you want, but liking something is good. It's better than hate, every day of the week. And if anyone thinks my 'reasons for hate' thread is hateful, they need to read more carefully. @Architecht - the same troll that mucked you about the other night gave me 11 likes when I challenged him/her/it. Can you remove them please? I'd like all my likes to be 'real' ones. Thanks
