  1. Laid Back Marmot.... Angry Vole.... We only need Sanguine Stoat and we've got a new super team!
  2. Quite right too. I like Ken. And you can't beat an angry vole!
  3. The art in the Dave Stevens piece is superb. The girl on the left is stunning, and the art stands out in quality from the right hand side of the page (which is also excellent of course). Do you think Dave would have 'copied' the girl from a photo or at least used a picture for inspiration? If he drew her from memory alone he must be a genius.
  4. 186 onwards killed it for me as a kid, for obvious reasons. The sheer disappointment never left me. I can get the 161 theory now as an adult, but 176-180 are too ingrained in my mind as cherished boyhood memory inducing pieces of wonder. Spidey was right for his time - the 60's to 70's. Putting to one side the fact that super heroes aren't real, Spidey could not exist today. His identity wouldn't last a nanosecond. When Marvel try a reboot, it doesn't work because they struggle to find a place for him in the modern world. What I read now, not only do I not like, I don't recognise it as Spider-Man. So there are great issues and arcs above 186, and a good few donkeys below 186, but 1-185 are the Amazing Spider-Man. End of message.
  5. A one in eighty five strike rate aint bad so I'm going to carry on. Come with me Kav, come with me!
  6. yep i was just joking around plus it rattled some cages Phew, I'm pleased. I knew all along you had a sense of humour and would respond in kind to my playful dig eventually. Especially since Muggins and I were so very kind to you on the good ship FDQE2 all those days ago. Since you have raised the 'N' word however, and in continued support of the search for the causes of hate, I have fed your irksome newbie theme jest into the Board Member Worthometer. In the spirit of fairness I have fed the data into both the old and the new board data engines. The results are shown below: Now I know for sure that you have a sense of humour Kav, here’s your chance to shine! I hate the new boards!
  7. Wrong thread, Jimmers. A not particularly Sisyphean attempt on my part to dumb things down. Are you saying things were high brow Ken?
  8. Other people have senses of humor too-maybe you could tell them their posts don't make sense because they are imbeciles Now I'm not feeling the warm smiley face banter from that post at all Kav. Are we still friends or what?
  9. What if someone takes @Ken Aldred while you're away though Ken?
  10. You've hit on two of the reasons I stopped being a completist here @Likefro - stuff that's too expensive and stuff I didn't care about. For some reason that I can't quite recall, I decided many moons back to go for every American Spider-Man comic and appearance. And I mean every one. Maybe @1950's war comics is right on the OCD claim earlier, but I really went for it. Look at my old records - these are just the title indexes: At its peak, I think I had over 8,000 comics with Spidey in. Every main title. Every mini-series. Every one-shot. Every promo. Every variant. Every printing. Every appearance. And I mean every appearance - one panel was enough to warrant getting the book. Strange Tales 97 because the Parkers looked like they were in there. Spidey on DD #1 cover? Got it. I spent £500 on a comic just because he was on the cover. Looking back, it was madness. But my God did I enjoy it. Up until the point that is when I almost got everything. The moment I'd 'done it', the full magnitude hit me. 8K comics, of which about 6K were, for want of a better word, tat. And then the variant madness went up a notch. I purchased all the 666's, all the V3 #1s. And then one day I stopped. Dead. I went cold turkey. And then I sold everything except for 50 or so books. I'm keeping this brief and could write a thesis on it. Maybe one day I will. So beware, completists. It's a dark road to go down unless you are fabulously rich, have all the time in the world and plenty of space. Alas, I no longer have those last three...
  11. Whichfro? Just seeing if I can get 'I hate you for asking' into double figures.
  12. I am me and no one else. If I have something to say I will say it. I do not appreciate even a slightly remote insinuation that I am using a shill account to say something. Nor did I Buzz, but you know that by now... It's an interesting discussion when none of you, with exception of the porcupenis, knows who I really am. Who is to know whether this is my real account or my shill account? And obviously, lizards2 is a cloak for the real me. I've sussed it! You're Arch. You use the @lizards2 persona to do all the fun, entertaining witty stuff and the @Architecht one to not
  13. And I thought my pulling technique was bad My post wasn't about handies, you perv Nor was mine!
  14. And that concludes our walk through Amazing Spider-Man First Printing Australian Price Variants. I hope this helps some future completist / completionist / nutter in some way. Remember, if you decide to go after them you will need patience and the ability to not get annoyed when your promised NM turns up a G+ If anyone finds any issues I missed in the hunt, do dive in. Good luck, G-Day and be seeing you!
