  1. Any reason that we are not on there? While I know we don't have the 9.9 Silver ages, we have affordable mid/low grade stuff with some nicer Mid-High grades. Hate on CS day
  2. If any of you have ever seen Lolita, the 1997 version with Dominique Swain you will notice in one scene while in the hotel she is reading a golden age comic. I am not sure which it is, but it appears to be an Action comic or possible a True Comics or something of the sort. I have always remembered that.
  3. I think some good customers of mine told me I was being ripped apart on here, so I started in to defend myself. Everyone hated me, and then I just kind of started to fit in. Have to say I love it though, it is the first thing I check everyday.
  4. Kudos to October for taking the chance on a 30% junk grader.
  5. My only question would be, does the book possible interact with the shiny side to make it more acidic over time? Where as the dull side might not? You have any boards from months back with a book placed on each side? Do you think a few months is enough time? Where did you get the pencil?
  6. Thanks to Paperheart and Alberto for a flawless deal.
  7. I agree with Jeffrey. Go with the 7 1/4 mylite2's and 7" fullbacks.
  8. As if, who would buy the market report. That picture scares my goldfish and my dog.
  9. Well, probably worth around half of what you paid. I don't think its a rarity although it could be.
  10. I hate to ask, but can you guys send pics of what your talking about? I am drawing quite the blank.
  11. Well, I know you can really do stuff to make it work, but I wish it was just different. Someone from the boards told me they cut them and allow them to bend easier, but its just a waste of effort. I wish it was changed for the better.
  12. To be honest, I would really have to disagree with the 2 mil into the 4 mil. So, if you are doing that, that already shows me that you are a serious collector and you know how to handle your books. So, why do you really need that extra thickness if you know how to handle your comics? The 2 mil isn't sized correctly and it has extra mylar at the top as does the 1 mil. Placing a board into that makes the top (where there is no board) bubble and it can curve your books. By placing them into a 4 mil, you cause them to be able to curve more over time. The 1 mil is thinner and easier to crease and make that bubble go away with pressure. If you pull the mylite over the board, that extra space becomes very unnoticable and will not curve your book near as much. In the end, I do not believe that by going with the 2 mil offers you really any more protection than you really need. It will cost you less to go with the 1 mil and will benefit your books in the long run. As a seller of these, the capitalist thing to do would tell you to go with the 2 mils because they cost more and there is more profit to be had, but I honestly can't do that because I can see the damage that can happen from it.
  13. Here are the breakdowns. Current Mylars: 7" Probably too small for anything before 1980. I would stay away from this size. To me, you might was well go with the 7 1/4" because those fit more. Standard Mylars: 7 1/4" This is in my eyes the ideal size. This size will fit just about everything from 1964-now. This will allow enough board to cover the back of the comic completely. This size will also fit a lot of books that date even back to the 50's. I would stick with this size, and have a pack of two of the next size for those that don't fit. Silver/Gold Mylars: 7 3'4" This size is too big in my opinion for most comics. The majority of comics that are placed into these would be better served with the Standard ones. Only comics that are oversize or very old (1940-1959) really need to be in here. There will always be exceptions, but for instance in my collection of around 10000 books, I have about 20-30 that really needed to be put into these bags. Specifically 80-100 pg giants and Giant Sizes need these. As well as old oversize Dells and the likes. Golden: 8" Very large bags, probably too big for most comics. You are looking at putting in Dell Oversizes and books that are rolled badly. Super Golden: 8 1/4" Very very large bags. Not much use or call for these. I have probably sold 2-4 packs of these in my life.
  14. If you go with regular size, being 7 1/4 on the bags and 7 on the boards, that will leave you enough room for comfort. Current is too small, and I find that Silver is too big for most boxes.
  15. I think they put that in because of one of the contests I was running where you got tickets with purchases. So, I am assuming they mean that if to enter the contest you have to buy something, then you can't post about it.
  16. I have to say that the books that I have seen with the board in the middle usually suffer creasing on the bottom corners and spine depressions throughout. The board is basically supposed to cover the whole back and if you put it in the middle, its much easier for the book to slide down and be damaged.
  17. Is it just me, or does the Miracleman 15 cover seem to be inspired by this?
  18. This story happens in 2000. I went to Wizard World Chicago and it was one of the first shows that CGC was at. The buzz about CGC was mixed but that didn't stop dealers from clamoring about selling their slabbed books. It was the strangest thing, in a second, in one sheer moment books that were not slabbed had their prices slashed while books that were slabbed were just crazy in price. This was 2000 and I remember seeing a Hulk #181 9.0 for $1200 and a ASM #122 8.5 for $225 Well, to make a short story long, a lot of dealers really didn't know at the time what made a 9.0 a 9.0 or an 8.5 an 8.5. I think it was too early. There was a dealer there who had a few great things I passed on. Among them, at least 5 copies of Hulk #181 that were generally VF/NM "but not cgc'ed" and he wanted $1000 for all. I think that at the time it was just desperation. He didn't have many sales, or lookers. He also had, of which I did buy, a stack of DD #181 for $2 each. That was the only shining part of the story. I did pass on the Hulk #181's but most likely should not of.
  19. I don't know if your supposed to say thanks here, but Thanks. Kudos to Chromium for an outside of our website/ebay transaction that went flawlessly.
