  1. Back in nineties at SDCC I came across an entire portfolio of pencil headshots. I have my Silver Surfer but I missed on so many more. I wish I had bought the entire book (at least 50) with examples of Thor, Spidey, THE FF.... if I remember correctly they were -$80-$100 a piece. My brother grabbed a couple one was a great Thor.... I can't remember the other might've been Spidey/Parker half face.
  2. Gene Colan pencils are wonderful. Let's not forget the world of comics greatest inker Joe Sinnott. I love those Joe Sinnott tight pencil only drawings he did. I have one Silver Surfer pencil and one pencil and inked by Joe. I love them both but the pencil only is my favorite.
  3. I understand there are some good folks wishing the best for Conny. Right now I think it's prudent to wait until we all hear from her publicly. In the meantime continue to pray for her health and well being if you would be so kind. 👍 👍
  4. $200 bucks for any Tony Daniel admirer c'mon you get 🦇MAN + JOKER that's a very nice price. Well done man!
  5. That Red Sonja should be a cover somewhere if it's not already. 👍 👍
  6. Sweet Krispy Kreme donuts! It made it so far..... luckily not into the hands of a trusting auction winner. Makes you think. I would hope the consignor can help shed light on provenance step retracing. This can't be the only one the counterfeiter made. Hopefully it's the only one that's come to market.
  7. Yes, a very Merry Christmas to all. It's always nice throwing comments out and reading the thoughts of my fellow boardies. I wish the best for all of you and your families. This time of year hopefully brings everything into perspective so far as what's truly important. ☮️ on 🌎 love one another 🍇 + 🦍
  8. Haha Rick I think so. At first I thought they meant Rick2you2 Phantom Stranger really had me twisted.
  9. Yeah my reasons for not posting a "sub par" commission/sketch would have to do with my unhappiness with the result. It might be a good idea though to post our "bad" drawings. Perhaps some artists need the embarrassing punishment/discipline
  10. I can help you Richard Rae. Here's my address. You send me your Frazetta art first.
  11. No you fat ba***rd. How could we forget you? You're in every auction now. I mean, we talk about you EVERY freaking auction now. "Us???" We see you Heritage Auctions.
  12. If that's the case then HA would be the auctioneer and sole benefactor? In that case I would predict a similar final outcome. It's a magnificent Bagley example I hope it finds a legit home. I wish I could get the job done. Venom looks creepy and cool.
  13. I hear your concern but all you can do is what you've already put in to action. You contact the auction house. As you mentioned emails can get overlooked so follow up with a phone call. Remember to provide as much verifiable info that you can. Include any supporting documentation. Imagine asking HA to change a listing based on our say so without receipts. Not going to happen. I've helped some collectors get proper credit at C-Link for missing attributions. They were good about making updates. I'm surprised how many people trust the auction house explicitly to be error free. It's always up to the buyer to beware. To know what they are pursuing independent of any descriptive listings and claims within. Overall I think HA in particular but also C-Link do a pretty good job of correctly/accurately describing their lots.
  14. Without Romita inks I'm surprised at the hammer price. Can't argue with the great action and imagery though. Spidey and Doc Ock all over this one.
  15. What else would one infer from the way you wrote this? You shouldn't be sensitive I gave you credit for this post and good intentions. The problem is we have someone other then Conny giving us information so how reliable is it I just don't know.
  16. That's where I'm going with this. I let Tatiana Dykes know about this and also let her know that she could be contacted to help sell again for Conny. Tatiana is very smart. She helped Conny after the fire. She'd only get involved if she could verify with Conny I'm sure.
  17. I would ask that everyone so inclined to do so pray for Conny to recover and gain health. Thanks to the thread poster who genuinely wanted to find out about Conny. A word of caution. Trust but verify. When I learned that Conny was social media silent I emailed her the day of this post at her email address where we've communicated before all this happened. I did get an email back from someone identifying as a nurse. They claim Conny is in a coma but gave the ok before the coma to read and respond on her behalf. It was too difficult for Conny to type or speak for any length of time. Since this post came out "information" • Conny died • Conny in coma • I traded messages with Conny All I can say is I have no verifiable information. I have not talked to Conny personally and am aware a "nurse" is responding on her phone and other media. Everything in the communications Ive had seem to be of genuine desire to help Conny. But I don't know who is communicating on her behalf. They may want to help but not get in trouble. What is probably true is if Conny survives she will need support as she apparently has no family help. I'm sure she'll have massive medical bills. Any "verifiable" ways to help I will pass on to the community. Many of you were great with the Go Fund Me in 2019. Anyone who has met or communicated with Conny I think it's fair to say adores her. Just a lovely human being from my experiences over many years. She's a very talented artist. She loves animals. (I heard neighbors are caring for her pets) She loves collecting and sharing the art of many of the talented artists we feature on CAF and speak on here at CGC. The house fire destroyed a lot of that enjoyment. Not to mention her illness. For the near future be skeptical of who you are communicating with until we have proof Conny is on her feet. "Helper" may mean well but the anonymity of communicating behind media puts us all at a disadvantage. Merry Christmas and warm Holiday greetings to all of you. I'm happy to believe my friend is alive. I'm thankful for all that I have. 🍇 🦍
  18. Good auction for C-Link. Incredible Hulk 102 splash by Marie Severin sold for $42,000. I love this John Buscema page from classic Epic 1 story. Even think the coloring looks nice. But it was added on after comic was published. There was another comment on a thread that talked about ink added to a published page after the fact. I'm not a fan of that at all even when it comes out nice like this. Also seemed like Silvestri X-Men sold well. And wow this one by Frank Miller went for a very nice price at $43,331.
  19. Yes that was a nice price. There was a splash that went for $40,000 at HA. But Bagley ASM is definitely on the rise. I've no doubt Bagley ASM pages, especially the early ones beautifully inked by Randy Emberlin will continue to rise in value. Having Venom on that page helped a lot!!!!
  20. I exchanged emails awhile back on April 8. She was in a great deal of pain and alone with no one to help her. It was slowing her down big time to create art. Keep her in your prayers she's a really good person. Life has dealt her some harsh blows. I don't have Facebook so I don't know what her last post was. 🍇 🦍
  21. Well I've seen pieces sit for a long time like this one because the asking price was "ridiculously high." When they come to auction though they seem to meet if not exceed the for sale price. Especially since 2020. So I'm assuming most people that have the money to compete for this page know where it's been and how much the ask was for quite some time. FOMO should trigger bids from those sitting on their hands hoping they could trade for it or the price would be lowered. The fact that some one else could now buy it and make it NFS or inquire gets in collectors heads. The X factor is maybe someone else getting involved that hasn't been paying attention. That happens all the time and we wonder how a price went for so much more at auction when it was sitting in plain sight for sale for less. So I'll say this one goes a minimum $30,000 and wouldn't be surprised to see it go for more. I love the piece but would never chase it now. I remember at least a month or two window where it stayed listed for sale under $3000 and I didn't get it done. So you move on or it gnaws your guts out.
  22. Once for sale many moons ago for $2500 went to Albert who bumped it and last I saw Bechara had it $25,000. Not the only time I regret not buying a piece I really liked only to see it at a nauseating jump in asking price. Classic pin up.
