  1. This is the place to ask questions. No worries. 🍇 🦍
  2. I’m dying to know. Was the sad face emoj that was left a few comments back by ExNihlo because he has to choose between buying a car or bidding on a high priced C&H? Or because in the description this C&H was gifted from Bill W to Gary T and now finds its way at auction for what I also believe will be a record setting 💰 bag? tth2 👍 I’ll tell ya without more context I’m loathe to make judgements here. But I dream up an imaginary situation where Todd McFarlane gifts a splash page McSpidey to a fellow artist of high regard and stature. And years later Todd sees a Heritage Brochure with that gift art for sale. I’m guessing if in the description it didn’t read “all proceeds go to charity” McFarlane might be sorely chapped. Again I know not the situation here so this all tongue and cheek. Of course in the end if you own it you can do as you like. I’m guessing it’s being sold for a good reason.
  3. sorry to interrupt..... The Amazing Spider-Man splash is up to $185,000 Not surprising. Anybody see noticeable surprises so far? good or bad.? It’s early I know but any fast starters that caught you off guard? Or any pieces sitting with low bids that make you go wtf?
  4. I remember when you first started. I am very impressed with the quality of artwork you’ve obtained. It hasn’t always been easy I know. But collecting OA certainly has its almost indescribable personal rewards. Well done my friend!!!!! 🍇 🦍
  5. Hey if you like Thor Colletta is actually very good on Kirby Thor. I knock him left and right for erasing backgrounds and other quirks, but not when it comes to JIM or THOR. He did a fine job in my opinion. 👍
  6. No you weren’t imagining it. I wasn’t aware it came down.
  7. I’ve seen this done before to “enhance” fragile art boards. That certainly doesn’t seem to be the case with the Sale art. If you can’t track them down I would recommend checking in to a restorationist, I think they can at least take a peak with a slight separation of the board to tell you what quality adhesive was used. Corrosion is my only concern. If it’s harmless than I’d leave the board in place to save on expenses. It has to have been the framing. Deep frames requiring additional support to display the art. I never would’ve made this choice but again, if it’s not a threat to damaging the art I’d just live with it.
  8. Are they though? As a business model doing what they do wouldn’t keep most businesses viable. 🍎 and 🍊 maybe but cars that sit on a lot unsold either stay the same or drop in price. in normal markets 🏡 for sale that sit stay the same price or drop in value. Thats an acknowledgment that what was for sale was unattractive or not doable for potential buyers. Sellers usually adjust to move inventory. Theres a common sense admission that a business owner comes to in order to survive and flourish. My inventories not moving. Maybe I need to look at what I’m asking the buyer to pay for the goods and service I’m offering. Opinion only. At this point Los Bros Inc is a fun hobby and a chance to show off. Nothing wrong with that. I’m sure they do sell some high priced items. They’ve cornered significant samples of available markets so inquire inquire inquire 😞 In person they are nice guys. I will say this. In the mid nineties they actually did have some pricing that was reasonable and even public knowledge. Back than I thought they undervalued many key pages, maybe because they had no personal interest in them? I had a buddy grab a page out of DD #37 with Doom and DD all over the page for maybe $150.’Felt like a steal then. Is their approach today a reaction to some missed valuations from 95-99? I don’t know enough about their strategies until online 2000 forward. I am tongue and cheek obviously to a point. I know they are a “business.” The guys are very friendly in person. It’s just many of their ways of doing business drive me nuts! Also not a fan of cut and paste snip snip art design logos and such. Inquire on 99% of inventory tedious and always produces anxiety waiting for the sticker shock response because I showed interest.
  9. Yes. Refuse to acknowledge reality. Strategy always is, you didn’t want it at $3,950? Now you can pay $9,950. Punishing us for our insolence. Taxing us for not paying 5x guide. Now you can pay X multiples of that price. Still don’t want it? See what we’re charging for it next year. yuck
  10. Our pal Sal pure craftsman on Namor here. Punctuated by the triumphant unrivaled lettering by Artie Simek!
  11. Xatari makes a good point that you can’t assume at cash out time there will be an unlimited pool of like minded collectors trampling each other to make you rich. But for me collecting comic art for 26 years now has made me rich in spirit. Anything else that comes from it is extra.
  12. Assuming you feel huge losses are coming. Are you selling off your art to avoid huge equity shedding? I’m just curious how you’re handling your collection. I’ve taken note of your concerns but how are you taking action if any? Or are you going to hold on and wait out the potential coming storm? For me I’m comfortable with what I’ve invested financially in the OA. If we see collectible stressors collapse the market value I will be fine. I plan on going about my life, playing with my granddaughter and niece, and looking forward to the sun rise and sun set. I plan on waiting out any “collapse.” I love all the art I have and at the end of the day the 💰 value associated always came secondary to me. I’m not naive it would sting to lose 💰 value just like it does when you watch your 401k take a nasty dive. I simply don’t plan to panic or cause panic. I believe the crazy prices we saw the last two years..... 🥁..... are nothing compared to what’s coming. Like Vodou says why liquidate the highest quality items now? Sellers are taking “big” profit but in the future I feel many will regret some of the pieces they let go. It just might be today’s “big” profits were merely a fraction of what they'll hammer for ten years from now. You would think I’m a dealer with what I’m about to say but I’m not. I think you should buy buy buy. But auctions bring about crazy bullseyes on the prizes you want. The way to “win” now is to make private deals and work your butt off to find material away from the spotlight. Buy and stash. Buy and hold. Stop flipping and hold. I see big 💰 in the coming years. Not that I care. I look to buy away from HA so I can have a chance to make deals and find pages I want without competition. If when I’m done with this “thing of ours” and walk away, I can cash a check for my family, well all right all right all right. However you all approach OA in these coming years just use common sense. I wish you all the best. 🍇 🦍
  13. I would not get it slabbed or graded. Go to a quality frame shop and get it matted and framed using the highest quality archival materials to preserve it against acidity and paper damage. Then display this treasure proudly and out of the damaging rays of direct sunlight.
  14. I read the original 12 issues in the eighties and loved them art and story. I just liked the art on the 94 cover. Of course it doesn't make you a bad person if you didn't like it
  15. Well I defer to you Mike. You guys know better than I do. It’s just hard to believe that cover would be valued so highly in cash value. Maybe half trade. But you turned it down so you’re waiting to hear the crazy number?
  16. Jon J. Muth Moonshadow #1 Cover Painting Original Art (DC/Vertigo, 1994). Created in mixed media on Bristol board, and signed in the 7" x 10.5 image area. Matted to 10" x 13.5". In Excellent condition.
  17. A collector from across the pond named Graham contacted us for advice about his collection. Looks like he decided to give HA a try. I remember he also has a beautiful Ditko Creeper page in this auction but I really fancy this Darwyn Cooke Spirit piece of noir art. Like I said something for everyone. Darwyn Cooke The Spirit #2 Cover Original Art (DC, 2009). The Spirit seems to invoke and embody a classic noir mood in this poignant cover! Illustration was used for Volume 2 of the trade that collected issues from the acclaimed series The Spirit by Darwyn Cooke. Cover was created in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.25". Slight toning. In Excellent condition.
  18. I know the collector that put this one up. I was surprised to see it but it's impressive. Whatever you like this auction has something for you. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/story-page/erik-larsen-and-joe-rosas-the-amazing-spider-man-332-story-page-19-venom-original-art-marvel-/p/7279-259001.s
  19. I hope you guys can see it ok. I can.
  20. Well here’s the comic cover as an idea. I don’t know I’d guess $40-50k but some people paying more for first appearances. For me without Wolverines claws slashing I would not place an unusual premium on this.
