  1. I feel for you so much I make it a point to ask about PS art everywhere I go. If I find it and it’s reasonable I’ll let ya know. 👍
  2. You are missing the point. Speculating on this thread is fun. Sometimes the guesses are absurd and some are rooted in solid takes. I have fun with it and do my best to make a case for why I think a piece will possibly set new marks. A few of the people on the board were really close at 2.5 M guessing. A few of your comments whiff of a tinge of elitism. "how many others reading this comment can name just three seven figure players in comic art as personal friends" and "If you can't, then you don't know jack" Most of us get it we're not running in the closed circle of whale collectors. Most of us have not gone through pledge week to enter in to the mythical and legendary cabal either. (I'm ready Gene). Lighten up. The point is the results of the SW8 page made a lot of us dream bigger for our hobby. So when you say what's the point maybe what I'm saying might serve as one possible answer. I'm fine if you don't accept it. Look, we're going to see the detonation of assets continue in most every conceivable sector. It's sad but it's happened before. Why not enjoy a thread dedicated to dreamers, voyeurs', tight rope walkers and mad hatters? Most of the thrill is believing you have a chance to win at HA. Most have failed lately or resigned themselves to the sidelines. Why so serious? This is fun. I mean Felix and his S**+*y DK1 cover post was hilarious. I'm not bummed at all the real DKR 1 "only" sold for $2.4M. Through Saturday we had 20 pieces of art sell between $102,000-$2.4M. My guess of $4.5M or Peter's $9.5M guess (Bold Peter) for bragging rights and to make a little fun of each other when we go off the rails. Now, I will leave with the speculation that the Hulk 181 cover will come up for auction in the future. My guess is a guy who really loved Herb Trimpe will buy a lottery ticket with the numbers 1-8-1 and his birthdate and win $53,000,000 dollars after taxes. Unexpectedly, a washed up movie star who survives a crazy slander trial will make a huge comeback and sign a 3 picture $100,000,000 deal. Turns out Hulk 181 was his favorite comic he read as a ten year old. The movie star and the lottery winner go head to head and the 181 hammers for $3.75 M dollars.
  3. Hey Marvin, way back at SDCC I had Tim draw Batman (gave it away as a gift) Superman(in my gallery) and Wolverine. I’m 99% sure you’re Wolverine is the same one I sold on eBay many years ago :-) He was the nicest man. As popular as he was getting, I still had amazing access to him at the DC booth. He was an original. And he was polite and kind. I loved watching him draw. RIP Tim
  4. 20 art pieces sold through Saturday between $102,000- $2.4M Still plenty of desirable pieces left. I wish all in this group who are dads a happy Father’s Day!! No kids? There are plenty of worthy art pieces that don’t have a home to call their own. Won’t you consider adopting a lonely art page? 🖼
  5. Don’t forget the “Kirby poses heroes in unrealistic limb twist” crowd who’ll be right behind the Rob Liefield can’t draw feet pitchforkers.
  6. They aren’t in any way related to the production of the published comic as I can recall. Ask leadpink for proof of a piece you’re interested in, than if you get any response share it here. Hard pass.
  7. I’d like to wipe 2022 right off the freaking calendar 😢 One of the nicest guys I ever met. I watched him work on commissions while sitting at conventions. A wondrous creator who will be missed. RIP Tim 🙏
  8. Just having fun J Sid. I love Bruce Timm 👍
  9. 🎶 Batman keep your S N I K T hand strong, your S N I K T hand, gotta keep your S N I K T hand strong 🎶
  10. On the 29th of May I predicted in this thread that DKR 1 will make at least $4.5M Some factors to consider *Secret Wars 8 page sold 3.3M **two comics, AF 15 3.6 M and now reported the private sale of Superman 1 CGC 8.0 sold for $5.3M in January. This type of confidence in collectibles makes it easier for those with the means to justify paying record prices. DKR 1 is positioned to 👍 attract those closing bids and should produce a magical price we’ll be talking about for awhile. 🍇 🦍
  11. It’s a no brainer. Really cool splash.
  12. Sometimes you might see a picture of a page from seventies and eighties that looks uncut. Newer collectors might buy a page like that only to see it arrive with cuts. What happened? The person selling the art may have put an uncut Bristol board or paper behind the art giving the appearance of a pristine page. It’s import to ask questions. Cut corners don’t bother me one bit. It’s doesn’t hurt the value. But deception is aggravating and a seller should never disguise the actual condition of a page. In fact 98.9% of the time when I’m asked what “condition” a page of art is I reply, “one of a kind.”
  13. They used to tape the corners during copying process and then cut the tape usually on the edges, but you’ll also see some funky cuts center top of a page.
  14. You have to be so careful when going on a spending spree. Are you fortified to withstand unforeseen calamities? I don’t know why these collectors sold the art they bought in a frenzy. You said “young” if it’s youth certainly inexperience can lead to big mistakes. New collectors especially younger I think are more susceptible to impulse purchases. I think of the comic market as a parallel when a new guy with money jumps in buying up all the “hot” comics recommended by others. Sometimes you have to buy and hold! if you know the latest collector, advise him or her not to be rash. I know recently it feels like everything we buy is going to be worth a fortune a month later. That’s not necessarily so.
  15. I believe you!!! The Scott Williams Inked this Tax hadn’t even factored into pricing yet.
  16. Jim Lee always a threat to make a piece of art shoot through the roof. 💥 💰 ⬆️
  17. “SOLD” can mean so many things in our hobby. ⛔️
  18. $286,000 I had it at $400k. Not second guessing but I was thinking maybe this one and the Ditko ASM could’ve benefited from an extra round of bids like @HA Live.
