  1. I predicted + $100 k. Thats the standard, condition be damned. It’s a great strip. But maybe a lesson learned? If you’re going to be the caretaker of something that rare mind how you frame it and where you display it! That damage was an unforced error. I know the new owner will do the right thing.
  2. The Calvin and Hobbes strip, in spite of fading inks, sold at $132K. I took a bit of grief but did predict that would still happen. Love that strip. The Avengers cover by Sal Buscema obviously got the INGSOC treatment thought it would break $100k but sold at $78k. FF Kirby $480K nothing to sneeze at. The Ditko 18 was a fine example of ASM and I thought it had a lot going for it on the page to seduce $156k. It’s also one of the very best memorable stories of the first few years if that nostalgia had any pull on the bid button. Should stay heated all the way through. Great time to sell.
  3. Steve, VOH 33 why? What resonated with you? Was this a huge nostalgia win? Why this cover/story?
  4. Yes contact Joe Maddalena at Heritage Auctions this is his exact experience. He will appraise an estimated value on the -script. Joe Maddalena Executive Vice President 214-409-1511 JMaHa.com His profiles in history company merged with HA he is a leading expert in Hollywood artifacts
  5. Fire and Ice has value to Frazetta devotees. I’m leaning on ‘attributed’ here. The picture resembled Frazetta but is likely an animated artist under his direction? I don’t want to buzzkill at least you have his family’s COA. I think the low final bid is a tip off that Frank’s ‘contribution’ was more aspirational. Its one of my favorite animated films.
  6. Terry I didn’t know you owned the VOH 33 cover at one time! Big congratulations to Steve as the new caretaker. A very creepy and memorable cover. Always gets to me when kids are involved in the horror mix. It’s a jarring art accomplishment. ☠️
  7. Here is my favorite EC cover. I don’t own EC art.....yet. So many shiny baubles I am trying to focus on some Marvel goals. But many of us love EC so show me what you have. Please tell me what it means to you. This could be entertaining visually and conversationally. Experts and novice opinions welcome please. If you would share your art it would make it super creepy and cool.
  8. Kirby’s amazing legacy is beyond comprehension fully. Even if you don’t like Kirby’s art (blasphemy) his influence is undeniably infused in our comic DNA. For me no one else brings power and magic to the comic page like our man Kirby. He is the greatest and I think the final hammer on his FF cover coming up will be a nice reminder for those who have trouble appreciating greatness without dollar signs attached for validation 😢 K I R B Y
  9. Fire and money are coming over that hill come live bidding. Best run for cover.
  10. I’m sorry to hear this fellas. Very sad news indeed.
  11. My friend owns the DPS SS #32 and will never sell. He’s allergic to money when it comes to the Silver Surfer 😂
  12. Looking for a few solid citizens to fill in some blanks here. Yesterday at Catskill Comics the promise of a new Ron Frenz Thor Art drop 12 pm est had some collectors excited. I did not participate but checking the website I saw no images of the offered pages or items marked sold. On Facebook I saw comments that suggested they went so fast (5 minutes) or that people never even saw what was offered. • what pages were offered ? • any asking prices for the benefit of the market • did anyone win a page • Scott why take them down? Or are they on Facebook but not Catskill Comics. Even sold pages he usually leaves them for awhile
  13. Panelpage getting told on by panelfan😂 I had to do a frickin double take there......I thought you were telling on yourself
  14. What if Bill Watterson got hold of an original Peanuts Strip and drew in a Calvin and Hobbes figure with some edited dialogue?
  15. Love that cover. Damn near wanna catch a ride from Southern California 😂
  16. My bad. Every once in awhile I crawl out from a cloud of enthusiasm without putting glasses on!
  17. Your guess isn’t even close. The way Eric puts a collection together making a nifty ROI is not paramount to his collecting model. $75k is nothing to sneeze at. That’s not what I mean. It just won’t get you this strip. Now just for fun keep track of the September HA auction there’s a CH original strip offered in today’s sizzling OA market. I don’t think six figures will be a problem.
  18. 😂 my entire collecting life. He’s a good dude once you break through so hang in there.
  19. Not for nothing but I think I like Mitch’s pricing better then.............
  20. It’s ok to be skeptical. We do have some knowledgeable and credible board members who have seen evidence of the art. It’s at least food for thought. This is a big part of the rollercoaster ride. The holy grails seen and unseen. Treasure hunting.
  21. Great point. Sometimes when you’re on a journey you can’t get there unless you shed everything. That includes the spotlight of others expectations. I have a friend who has come so very close to completing a book. The journey has taken him twenty years and of course what once seemed easy is very difficult now. It’s not a huge dollar book either. He’s exhausted all tried and true avenues. Now you wait and do whatever it takes without making yourself an easy 💰 mark.
