  1. I don’t think the owner is selling ha ha. Pretty sure. But yeah I get it. This is good news for those who collect drek. Adam Drek?
  2. If you buy his best examples, and can get them below what he asks on websites etc. you are probably getting a good deal. I would concentrate on the best interior published pages he has. Many artists thought of as “overrated“ etc. have their moment in the sun. Do some research on his better regarded work and see if you can get a few pages. It helps if you find ones you like even if he is an acquired taste. Just have fun. Don’t overspend. Grapeape always says put the work in, pull the trigger and enjoy.
  3. It blows the lid off the Wolverine 75 cover where the adamantium is ripped out by Magneto. Same art team. That might be a more “important” cover for nostalgic story telling. It sold for $10,000 and a few dollars more a few years back at HA. I think the 85 cover is superior artistically and just a magnificent specimen. I think the mind blowing art, the fresh to market angle and a shot at grabbing a win off eBay with limited exposure all contributed to the madness.
  4. That’s honest and fair. And keeps your sale security and n both sides.
  5. There is room. Buy his best examples- enjoy it and hold it. You’ll do fine. Quality over quantity.
  6. David thank you! That’s brilliant!! This would have been a neat item to get. Jim Mooney would always send a neat print and one time even sent extra original art. Thank you David
  7. I was wondering do any of you guys have similar price advertising, catalogs, eBay snapshots etc? Lee and Mitch always have great source material. But I would appreciate if others would share anything they have from: Comic Buyers Guides Catalogs saved eBay auctions from the past Classified ads Not looking to keep this thread going beyond usefulness for everybody. But I truly was hoping to see if anyone here has similar material so we can appreciate the history of original comic art advertising and pricing. I appreciate you all 🍇 🦍
  8. I was following this one also. Bidding was heating up then GONE... I believe the seller has 12 hours before end of auction to cancel-end even with bids. It’s supposed to be for legitimate reasons and seller has to declare what those reasons are. its misused all the time and frustrating. In the case of Wolverine 85 the auction came to a conclusion and the final bid should be honored. There’s a difference. Ending auctions early is maybe unfair but technically within the rules under certain situations. How can eBay be taken seriously if a winning bid is not honored. Imagine HA letting an auction come to conclusion and then saying sorry, no sale.... Shenanigans.
  9. You are absolutely correct. Always a possibility that a private deal gets worked out before end of auction. Theres only so much you can do as a potential buyer. I made contact when the bids jumped from $5100-$10,000. I asked the seller for provenance, I tried to encourage seller to stay in it until the end of the auction. It’s frustrating when auctions comes down early. This one actually did come to the end. If that final bid was not honored it’s a disgrace.
  10. Red red flags! Believe me I was very interested in this one. The bidding, the bidder feedbacks and the private auction. My Spider senses were tingling.
  11. I’m so glad I didn’t snipe. Having a price driven up on you is one thing but winning legit like your friend and not having the winning bid honored is rage worthy.
  12. It was legit. I spoke with her and her husband got it personally from Adam. Her husband was Marvel President in 94. Aftet I spoke with her she added the notes to the auction. It had never been publicly offered before. There was obvious red flags with the bidding. Not surprised the final bid wasn’t legit. A great wraparound cover.
  13. If anyone has this fiber original artwork I might be willing to trade 2 Sal Buscema’s and a Rob Liefeld Captain America “bust.”
  14. That’s great! You saw an excellent opportunity and pulled the trigger.
  15. Think that’s odd? Look at these 1998 prices for Sal Buscema when he was a “nobody.” Now that he’s a Too 5 guy forget about it. Although many here on the boards will think these are fair 2020 prices. H8
  16. To your point, here’s a few more. What’s interesting is the art for sale with many dealers didn’t have pics. A serious buyer might get a photocopy or even a picture taken with a camera upon request. I did a deal that took 5 weeks with the back and forth. So you had to rely on a typed description. Then you had to go through comics to find the images. Anyone care for a Kirby FF 5 page 19 ? A no prize for the member that finds an image from FF 5 page 19 and posts it here so we can compare to Conrad’s description.
