  1. Let Millennial collectors satiate themselves on McFarlane, Larsen& Bagley for a while. The ones who can afford it will in many cases turn to Ditko eventually. I’m not sure about Romita.
  2. Boomers are perfectly fine with propping up the upper end of Golden Age art that came out either before they were born or before they could read. I see no reason why a wealthy Millennial OA collector would not be willing to pay top dollar for a Ditko Spidey page to hang along side their McFarlane cover.
  3. I forgot who bought the BWS Bloodshot #1 cover. But, isn't he a Millennial? I know he posted it on twitter after he bought it. A TV producer. Maybe he's a young Gen X'er, though.
  4. I wonder if that was published in Marvel Age, or Comics Journal?
  5. Seeing as the Hero for Hire #1 cover is the literal first published appearance (although there may have been ads in some comics) of Luke Cage, this probably gets a bit of a premium bump. I think it could go for between $60K to $85K, with juice.
  6. Except, the current boom in early to mid 90's key OA prices seems to suggest that Millennials might be driving that bus.

  8. The “Fresh to market” price premium is only an emergent property that comes from the heightened publicity surrounding a piece that’s never been seen publicly before. It’s the “oh wow. Never saw that before” factor. A “fresh to market” piece from some run of the mill artist and title that noboby gives two hoots about is not going to sell for a premium.
  9. What that doesn't show is sales by year. Pretty sure IG has been increasing in sales at, or near, the top of that list.
  10. For those for whom it matters, why don't we have a separate contest where we post art that we bought with added on expenses, including taxes, shipping, etc as less than $15? You can call it "Budget/Extras"
  11. Happens a lot. Here is an example from my own collection.
  12. Yeah. I'm with Gene on this. The agreed upon sales price (which would include Buyers premium at an auction house) should be the cut off number. Shipping and tax should not be counted. Besides, we 're all on the honor system here anyway. How is anyone supposed to enforce these rules? Make the rules simple.
  13. I did unexpectedly well in this contest this year. Thanks for doing this, and thank you to everyone who voted for my pieces. You all posted so many great ones! I think the $500 limit is just perfect, BTW. maybe CAF could include a “budget” category in their big contest next year. It’s hard for us little guys to compete with such wonderful stuff.
  14. He was certainly joking about ~someone else~ buying it for him.
  15. I don’t think he was serious about someone buying it for him. But he certainly publicized the auction and probably wishes he could get it back.
  16. Rob Leifeld wants this, and publicized the eBay auction. So....
  17. I'd look at maybe buying art from Umbrella Academy by Gabriel Ba. If you can find it.
  18. It depends. It’s more character and book specific these days rather than artist centered.
  19. Just bumping this topic, because no one tallied up the winners yet.
