  1. I have no idea. That's why I raised it.
  2. https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/dark-horse-announces-art-of-james-stokoe-hardcover-book Very happy to have a page of his in my collection. He's pretty amazing.
  3. I'm sure that's true in th vast majority of instances. But, what about the complete art to a Major Key book?
  4. Yep. Like driving a new car off the lot. Drops 10% in value the minute you leave the parking g lot.
  5. Looks like there are a few Alex Blum complete Classics Illustrated's out there. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1260344&GSub=170072 http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=20554 http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=61628
  6. I think it depends on the artist. Who drew it? If it's a name artist, it may actually do better broken up. UPDATE: Looks like the issue was illustrated by Alex Blum? http://comics.lib.msu.edu/rri/crri/classi.htm
  7. I don't have that much insight into this, but, I wonder if having the complete book for a KEY comic makes a difference (say X-Men #1), as opposed to a run of the Mill book. I could see there being a PREMIUM for something like that, which would not otherwise be true for regular complete stories. But, I am not sure. Who is the artist on the OP's Classics iIlustrated book? If it's by a name artist, it would probably do better sold piecemeal.
  8. Here's the group I administer, which is just a fledgling, but Michigan collectors are welcome. https://www.facebook.com/groups/163313051067529/?fb_dtsg_ag=AdxyxSMQFfucS-eWHgFshTHK9nEqNcuXHFwTQrUHXPnvFQ%3AAdw75Yc6pZoaqO1K9GsxGV7de-Clxg3wyc7jjmcKMiulbA
  9. Could be that, or an early Conan comic that Buscema worked on. Definitely looks like Conan, though.
  10. Given the time frame, John Buscema prelim pencils for an early Savage Sword of Conan story, possibly?
  11. Who had the Silver Surfer (Vol 2) #1 cover?
  12. I can say as a regular guy collector, that getting a lot of positive feedback on one of your pieces (albeit on Facebook) from seasoned collectors is cool. I also post a Facebook gallery of my art that is not as transient, that my friends can see. It's not all of my stuff, but a decent sample size. CAF is kind of unwieldy in its user interface, IMHO. Its got a lot of great qualities, but ease of use isn't really at the top of that list.
  13. Because it gets more instant feedback from fellow collectors. CAF is kind of a good old boys network in that the people who have been around for a while get feedback whereas latecomers and ham and egged barely get noticed.
  14. I have posted anything “new” in my CAF gallery for quite some time. I think people are choosing other venues, like Facebook, to do that more than previously.
  15. I think “fresh to market” is kind of a placebo effect. Something “new” gets more attention and eyeballs. So, if there is any kind of price bump is merely a function of more people being aware that it’s suddenly for sake. Stuff that’s been openly displayed for years going on sale is not going to suddenly increase buyer awareness. It’s alreafy built in. I think if a piece is desirable, it will sell at its value, regardless.
  16. Someone bought the all the pages to Leviathan #1 complete, so he had some cash to spend on Quitely art.
  17. I think the point I was making re Lim IG art is that it's probably a good value proposition - right now - vs the Perez IG art. Later collectors who come to IG through the MCU are not going to care who drew what pages. So, over time (10-15 years) I see the gap closing quite a bit. This may be the perfect test of value compression that we are seeing for superkey comics between the higher and lower grade versions of a book. Think of the Perez IG art as the higher grade pages, and the Lim ones (although, story points may make some Lim pages MORE valuable), being the lower grade ones. Us old farts who revere George Perez are not going to be driving the hobby as much in 15 years. As for whether IG is getting into Watchmen, KJ or TDKR territory, I think it will eventually thanks to the films. That series is the cornerstone of most of the entire Thanos saga of the MCU.
  18. Seems like the Preacher pages are coming back down to Earth (heh), rather than that they were ”bargains.” Kind of like I expected.
  19. It’s clearly a terrific image, which encapsulates the whole IG saga.
  20. I think, holistically, the Jones page is also timeless. You don't have to know anything about the story, or what's going on. It's just two old foes going at each other. I also especially like the Captain American Comics #1 cover homage (albeit reversed) in the main panel of the Jones page.
  21. Hard to say whether Dan or David inked it.
  22. Dan Day: https://www.lambiek.net/artists/d/day_dan.htm
  23. Fair enough. Though, I'm not sure I agree on the "flows better" argument.
