Well yea.
You can get away with just paying your dealer bill and screwing over customers for a while which Hotshots is accused of before CGC would possibly get involved. Especially since those pre-orders were sometimes 6-12 months in advance. That's also 6-12 months those customers were only contacting Hotshots, NOT CGC unfortunately for them. CGC has nothing to do with Hotshots business model or lack thereof. All they can do is make a judgement call after hearing from the general public if they want to continue allowing him to submit, or when Hotshots does not pay their dealer balance. (edit) Also from what CGC Mike said below, help fellow collectors get their books back if they are still in house at CGC submitted under Hotshots dealer account.
Like the scene in Goodfellas, Hotshots has run our of store credit it seems...

I guess my fear would be false accusations or “misunderstandings” (in general) with these type of highly charged situations.
That’s fair. As long as cool was kept, I’m sure it would be alright.

Close to $54,000 in books and $12,000 in cash. That’s for just him. I can only imagine the total of outstanding cash and book values of customers in limbo.
Oh, I know! It’s absolutely astounding. I know it’s not possible for a lot of people to do, but I would be making a trip to “Hero’s” office.

My jaw dropped open at the first post in this thread and remained open until now. Incredible examples gents.

@Hero Restoration Did you ship NP’s book back on Tuesday?
I’m sure we both know the answer to that question.

This guy is a scumbag. Has an FF 5 for a year and decides to keep the 2k? Yeah, at least the book has been returned, but what a joke. Any credibility this "business" had went right down the toilet.
WHAT IS THE DAMN HOLD UP WITH THE AF 15?

As a college student "collector" of golden age books (putting in quotes because I only have a handful of GA), I feel as though I am priced out of most desirable superhero, horror, and science fiction. I think many people feel this way and that a high entry cost holds a lot of people back from collecting GA. They get a lot of love and interest from those who either love comics but don't collect or those who collect other eras that aren't Golden. My friend loves anti-Nazi covers and would almost certainly buy issues of Wonder Comics and Marvel Mystery if a 20-year-old could do such a thing. Even if you're a middle-aged adult, meaning access to more disposable income, you can't really put together a nice collection on a modest budget anymore. Some books are totally out of the question; Timelys and the like. I always feel as if I have to be hyper-selective with my purchases and do a lot of analysis before I buy. I've passed up several ebay auctions and board sales for that reason. With bronze age, unless it's key stuff like House of Secrets #92, if I want it I can buy it, and I could amass an extensive BA collection of Spiderman, X-Men, and the like if I really wanted to. PCH prices for books that used to be overlooked are stratospheric at this point.

I can totally appreciate where you’re coming from and I get it. Yes, a lot of the really sought after stuff, like Timely war issues for example, are out of reach even in low grades for a lot of collectors.
However, there is so much more that the best era of comics has to offer than just Timely or pre-code classic covers, and this coming from a Timely collector! I love looking for Timely funny animal issues. So many of those titles have issues that are really tough to find, in any grade. So when I find one that’s better than a VG, it’s really something fun and special. And it might cost less than a 100 bucks.
So, I understand someone feeling like they can’t afford to collect GA, but you might just have to look into genres or titles that you hadn’t considered before. You might very well find your favorite book.

Honestly, some of your responses are coming off snarky. Almost like an “it is what it is” type attitude. Just get everyone THEIR property back that wants it, regardless if work has been done.
I’m sure you could’ve shipped that AF 15 out in the time it took you to type up these responses.

I really hope @NP_Gresham’s AF 15 isn’t “missing”. It should be a priority to sort out the people that want their books back regardless if work has been completed or not.
At the very LEAST, get those people their books back immediately. Figure out the refunds later. This is ridiculous.

I have been passively after this book for over ten years. About 5 years ago I made the decision to get more serious about it and I started watching auctions and reached out to collectors who I thought might have leads. It really proved to be a tough book.
This particular copy sold at Heritage in November and I was pretty far outside the winning bid. At that point I had pretty much given up. It just seemed expensive for a low grade copy.
When it went back up for sale, I was very grateful to work something out with @mycomicshop . Without their flexibility I wouldn't own this copy today.
Also special thanks to @WolverineX who has been my comic therapist over the last several years, as I complained after every failed auction.
Wow! Congrats! That is a monster book!

Just wanted to say that I always enjoyed talking with Roger at the Gem City Comic Con. He always had some of the best $5 books you’d want. My thoughts are with his family.
