What are your 2024 OA Collecting Goals?
artdisease replied to batman_fan's topic in Original Comic Art
I'm planning for this to be a lighter year. The only thing I'm really wanting are a couple Skottie Young covers. He's not selling them at the moment, but if he starts up again I'll be ready. -
Comic Link Fall Featured Auction Nov 17
artdisease replied to Matches_Malone's topic in Original Comic Art
I had three pieces in this auction. I broke even. I bid on a few lots, won one. Not the one I really wanted. On to the next auction. -
There were a few pieces I was interested in, but ultimately passed. Ive just bought too much this year. I still get excited for CAL and enjoyed looking at all the art, though.

Does anyone know the price of the 300 piece at Albert's booth? -
Do You Still Have Your First Piece of Original Comic Art?
artdisease replied to Dr. Balls's topic in Original Comic Art
I don't have my 1st or 2nd, but I do have my 3rd and 4th. Two consecutive Jae Lee Inhumans pages. Sorry, don't have a scan. -
Punisher art and Marvel's actions

Absolutely. Mostly because it doesn't fit in any of my portfolios. -
Punisher art and Marvel's actions

The Frank Miller Punisher arrived yesterday. I was expecting it to be big, but it's huge. The image is 16x21, but the board is 20x30. Looks amazing in person -

Thanks! I won two lots out of the three I was really wanting, for what i feel were fantastic prices. The other being the Campbell Darth Vader cover. I think I'm done for the year, though. -
Punisher art and Marvel's actions

I'm the buyer of the Punisher piece. I was absolutely thrilled to win it for what I did. Well below my max bid. It makes me think "what if Frank Castle moved to Basin City?" I wasn't aware of the size until after the lot closed, so that was a nice surprise. Needless to say I'm not selling this one, so you won't see it on the attempted flip thread. -
Punisher art and Marvel's actions

I think we're seeing the same thing that happened with his first marvel knights reboot. They're going to kill him off and here in a couple three years he'll back to basics. -
I do not. I won the Vader cover. Which is the one i liked most, signatures or not. If the signatures on the others were on the empty space on the bottom, I would have gone after those and probably lost.

They didn't

I won my first choice for a great price, IMO. Haven't decided if I'll try for anything else.

There are several pieces I'm interested in. Luckily they end in order of my interest.

Comicarttracker.com is an excellent resource. Thank you so much for all that you do.

Comiclink 4/15 thoughts and assessments
artdisease replied to Grant Turner's topic in Original Comic Art
I won the two Matteo Scalera pieces for what I thought were great prices. I really wanted to go harder on the Quesada pieces, but there's a piece coming up that I really want to go after. -
I'm a huge Skottie fan and I actually really like this piece and I agree 100%. It's a great pickup if you're a die hard Skottie fan, I think the price might have been a little low, but not much. I passed on this one since I was going after something else.

My goal for this year is to not buy a single piece. I've had an amazing collecting year and I think I need to take a break. I have five pieces paid for that I won't receive until 2023, so I hope that keeps me satisfied.
-
I thought the Campbell Spiderman covers were a steal. In fact I won the blackcat/spidey cover and I'm over the moon. I'd be shocked if they didn't sell for at least twice as much originally. I've wanted a Campbell Spidey cover for years and really didn't think I'd ever get one. Especially for less than five figures.

I have a problem with their shipping price. I just recently bought from them for the first time in this last auction. I got a great deal on the piece, but at checkout the shipping ended up being 40% of the final price. Still a pretty good deal, but man what a way to dampen a post win high

I think I won the wolverine 12 page, but the final bids aren't showing up. It says I'm the highest bidder on my list though -
Skottie Young cover dump on his website
artdisease replied to Unstoppablejayd's topic in Original Comic Art
I agree they're pretty high. His covers are a better deal comparatively speaking. However, I had to get a Star Wars commission. Once that's in hand my Skottie collecting might be done for a bit. -
Skottie Young cover dump on his website
artdisease replied to Unstoppablejayd's topic in Original Comic Art
So did anyone get on Skotties commission list? I was debating on it. Between Jim Lee's charity auctions, of which I've won zero but I'll keep trying and Heritage closing soon I wasn't sure. I decided to send a message when the list opened, one thing led to another and now I'm waiting on a new Skottie piece. I can't wait to see what he comes up with. -

The x-men cover was the one I knew I wanted so as soon as I saw it I added it and checked out. I wasn't taking the chance of missing by looking at the other pieces. After it was successfully purchased I took a better look. 😁
