  1. From the stratosphere of the tb MMM collection, we return to the troposphere that is the AJD WDC&S 1 - 100 collection.

I've had an excellent run recently, and have added eight new copies to my collection, including four under #50. Well, nominally - six of them are somewhere in transit.

Here's the first two to arrive, which take me past the 50/100 mark on hand. I'm going to try to do a 50 issue group shot next weekend. (And, no, I haven't amped up the colour on my scanner - I try to pick issues with strong eye appeal even if they are mid grade. The #90 looks better in hand - the scuffing on the spine isn't that obvious.)

Nice! I'm looking forward to the group shot! (thumbs u

  2. Here's my All Winners #7. Rare Book?

GREAT book!!! Hard to obtain a copy of this one (I still need one), unless you want to pay at least double guide regardless of grade (just shootin' from the hip, I've not done actual research on this). This issue is where the covers start getting really good!!! :applause: Well done sir (thumbs u

Thanks! I lucked into this one. I saw that it could be undergraded and bid agressively, considering the stated grade. When I got it back from CGC :whee:

Your 4 leaf clover paid off :headbang: It's a fantastic Schomburg :cloud9:

agreed; aw 7 a great book. this 'un is my fave all winners cover.

    Great readers Frisco! (thumbs u

Thanks!! If I could afford it, I'd have a reader copy for every nice grade slabbed copy I have!!! I know, some people think that that's :screwy:

If I can just get a copy of each I'll be :cloud9:

It seems like everytime I get a good run going some type of financial reality interferes and I sell on eBay.

  4. My Cap 31. A very nice mid grade copy with excellent pq.

Wow! That's a really nice book with fantastic art! That Shomburg was a real genius and your book proves it!

Thanks very much Steven!!! This is one of my favorites!!! The eight larger sized Caps Schomburg did are all classics to me!!!

Schomburg and Barks are my favorite GA artists for basically the same reason: attention to detail! IMO, there are very few artists of the period that could stack so much into so little space. Lots of bang for the buck!

  5. Mister G.A.tor

Why is All Winners #7 in high demand? Looking at the census it does not appear rare, relative to other Timelys, and yet it goes for multiples of guide.

    Thoughts?

all of the all winners from 6-12 are in demand due to their wonderful covers and stories...pretty much all 7 issues go for multiples of guide...nothing any more special about 7 than , say, 12...just more demand than supply (thumbs u

    Got it. Thanks!

  7.

I think the Dell Scrooges are still my favourite comics of all time.

Scrooge is my favorite Disney icon without doubt. I lost my inventory list of my Uncle Scrooges and so I haven't been buying in the last couple of years. I need to get off my duff, pull the boxes out, and reinventory.

I get to play in my Disney boxes! :cloud9:

  8. I’ve been a voyeur here for a few years (I was never a collector of Golden Age titles but I do love to look). I finally made my one and only golden age acquisition a few years ago to use up some store credit. I overpaid for this at the time (& probably couldn’t even sell it now for what I paid then) but I wanted to say I once owned the highest graded copy of USA #1 (although mine is restored and at the time there were 3 known unrestored 9.0s). Since then a 9.2 has appeared, dammit, but I still like pulling this out to look at from time to time.

    Awesome book and welcome!
