I don’t disagree and never said it would sell for $40K. I was just saying it would be awesome to get one. It was Zen who said a cover would sell for $40K ++++++++. I would think the condition of the cover would definitely play a role, but if we’re talking a beautiful complete or near complete cover, would likely be closer to $75K-$100K.

A full front cover in nice unrestored 100k

I meant if you had the front cover then the cf would be 40k in value since you could complete your Grail

The $10K offer was from me. Unfortunately he wants a lot more than that so not going to happen. The reason I offered $10K, and would maybe do as high as $14K -$15K is because I have an incomplete Tec 27. I don’t see the advantage of getting a centerfold for $20K considering I’m missing all the Batman pages. If I had the Batman pages then yes, I’d probably spend more to get this centerfold.

The last centerfold was for sale on Comicconnect about 3-5 years ago for $17K, and you could throw out offers of course. I followed it closely and there was never any offers, eventually it was taken down. The owner of this one wants $20K. He very well may get it, but you’re right it would take someone who needs to complete their copy, because I have a tough time justifying the centerfold being worth much more than one of the Batman pages, and those go for $10K-$14K.

I would take it for 10k also wait and hold on it. He just needs the person that is missing a cf. As we all know its the part along with cover that is always missing.

Why would you buy it if you dont have a missing cf copy?

I think it can surprise us. 1 million plus perharps!!

    Gonna keep my prediction 1!

If a T206 Honus Wagner psa 1 can sell for over a Million

    https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/goldin-to-offer-t206-wagner-in-upcoming-auction/amp/

If I had the choice I would buy a tec27 or ac1. As a collector and as an investment has great potential if looking at the growth of baseball cards.

    Market is hot for collectibles🔥

No one is touching the Tec 27 CF at comic connect for 30k.  High offer 10k.  Great looking quality page too.

Action 1 CF sold for 39k with great PQ

The 10k is a steal. I would take it for 10k

Just needs someone who needs a centerfold to complete his copy and voila 30k and more if the market on tec 27k keeps rising.

30k investment that will bring 70k -100k in extra value and completing a Tec 27 sounds good

Maybe it was 4 then, but I don't recall it being brittle.

Page 2 was the one u saw and it was tattered. Great pq off white though

Page 4 brittle never resold. I know since ive been following and sold page brittle;)

Would pick up in a NY minute for the price it sold for

I feel like it wasn't page 2 just from what I remember. The amount sounds correct though. I messaged him back and forth, and I save all my ebay messages through my gmail when they come, but of course I can't find these haha. Anyway, someone got a solid deal.

If those were the prices it was definitely Page 2.

Page 4 was a brittle and sold years prior like 3-4... For cheap before people realized pages were cool. aka like joker paged from Batman 1, Any page from ac1, tec27, etc

I can’t remember if it was this page, or maybe even this exact page that you ended up purchasing, but a Supes page sold on eBay a year or two ago for about $7K or $8K. The seller originally had it at like $10K, I messaged offering around $6K and he said he would lower the price $500 each day until someone bought it. Well, someone eventually bought it and wasn’t me lol. I still massively regret not getting that page. I feel like it was this page once again, but it could have been page 4, can’t remember. Anyway, I’m super jealous of yours 😁

Actually i think it was page 2 it had nice pq but a bit tattered. it sold a few months earlier for 9500$ at CC event auction and then the owner put it up on ebay.  sold 6995$ I think he would have gotten alot more in an auction at comicconnect. Even more if he waited for longer than a few months.

Thanks! I honestly have no idea if I overpaid for it lol, but I don’t ever intend to sell unless upgrading to a Supes page. It seems like everything that isn’t a Supes page or the centerfold (I’ve never seen the centerfold for sale mind you) go for not that much. You can get just about any other page from what I’ve gathered in solid condition for $1500-$2500, and those kinds of pages brittle can go for as little as $800-$1200.

I agree and the Zatara splash is amazing. First Zatara!!  Just looked at GPA and 4150$ seems right it with great visuals and pq.

I think the next blue label Marvel 1 will sell for a record price. AS 8, Pep 22, Archie 1 have lost their "luster" since their record sale price days a few years ago.   Just my personal opinion and for transparency sakes, I do not own any of these books.

I also agree the next blue Marvel 1 will break records especially an OCT copy.

Growing up in 90s  and Marvel 1 was right up there Top 3 and even outside chance at being no. 1

True scarcity in blue label. Even in this market the census hasnt been flooded

Tough with single sales to know if they are an outlier or what.

A 1.5 marvel 1 has since sold for 45k, so it’s really impossible to assign a 1.0 value. They almost always will vary greatly!

Will buy a Marvel 1 1.5 From you Gator  45k. Especially an october copy but im not picky. Thanks!

Another coverless complete was found in the wild 2 days ago that’s why I asked the question after looking up recent sales.  Not mine. A lot of Supes 1 these days compared to just 6 years ( comparatively ) much like Other  “ rare “ books from that time time period. AA16. Flash 1. Whiz 2

    Indeed

Still no new fresh to the market Marvel Comics 1  and hardly any  known copies

Dont get me started in The Ultra Rare First edition october copy!!! Hahaha

Bumping this thread. I just noticed in the new OPG, on p. 90, in Overstreets 2020 market report, that one advisor reported “There has been an upswing in sales of incomplete comic books and even parts of books over the last year as well. Surely this is due to the extremely high price of complete books. I have seen pages of major keys bring hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

ok, I call bs on that. This advisor must be jumping from comic pages to original art. To my knowledge, the highest price anyone has paid for a comic page is $25k for page 3 of an Action 1

27.5k page 5  ac1 of course in auction november 2019 event auction is the highest to date

It is kind of interesting that according to the census there are 33 restored to 30 universals (no qualified) although with CPR, I doubt it is accurate.  When looking at GPA, it has been quite some time for a recorded sale of a restored MC 1 but of course that does not include CL, CC, private sale, etc.

Iast unrestored was over 2 years ago unlike superman 1 which pop up all the time in auction. Top 3 Book and rarest of the top 10. Affordable grail to some lol

We will have to wait for a sale of a restored or low grade to see. Its most likely higher with the 9.4  sale at auction in November that was the third comic to cross the 1 million in auction.

    Not all original.

Most of the Subby story was in Motion Picture Funnies Weekly (in black and white).

Motion Picture funnies Weekly is even rarer  than Marvel 1 and never distributed. Supposedly given away at movie theatres?  Why so few copies. As you said in black and white

Imho it doesn't even count as subby first apparence.

Still  case in point 90% original material or 100% in color lol

  17.

Supes 1. Great book. But would pay for same price. Same grade . Same eye appeal.

    AC1 TEC27  MC1..... Supes 1

Marvel 1! First Timely. Truly ultra rare. Rarest of the top 5 keys. All original material. Intro Subby and Human torch. the book that started Marvel. First mutant.... Nuff said!!

An october copy🤪  thats even 1/10 rarer than  the november Copy

Wow, that's really unfortunate and must have been totally frustrating on part here.  :pullhair:  :censored:

Well okay, probably also on both the part of the consignor and CC at the same time.

I actually thought this particular copy here looked a whole lot better here with the original pencilled-in writing still intact on the cover here:

    det1.14992a.jpg

Not sure if this attempted and rather obvious bad job of trying to erase the pencilled marking was one of the culprits in this copy dropping all the way down from the $17,705 price point which it managed to fetched in a CC Event Auction from just over a year ago back in December of 2018.  :p  :tonofbricks:

The other question which I have is how did this book managed to get back into a slab with the same serial number since I thought that was normally done only for the reholdering of books?  Not sure if the consignor was trying for an upgrade by erasing the pencil marking which clearly did not work in the end.  (shrug)  doh!

It does look alot better with the pencil mark!

    Zen;

So, was you able to pick up this copy for your collection as it went up by only a few hundred dollars more at only $9,800?  :wishluck:

Found it rather surprising that this once hot book didn't see any action at all during the extended bidding sessions.  :whatthe:

Although the final price of $9,800 represented a healthy 45% premium to guide, it's definitely a whole lot less than the outlier price point of $17,705 which it sold for a couple of years ago. :tonofbricks:

    I jinxed myself

I was waiting to snipe it and my phone froze🤬

An extended bidding would have allowed me to bid.

Its not as hot as late but 9800 is really low just last an ugly 3.0 sold for 9000$ and a 2.5 sold for 8500$

a 4.0 for 11.2k that really didnt present as well as this one

Oh well. There will be another one.

Truthfully, page 5 is the better page since it has the Action 1 cover image.  Page 6 only has the Action 7 cover image.

    But I appreciate the enthusiasm!

Of course Page 5 is the best tied with Page 1. But page 6  is no slouch and those both sold over 25.5k one of them brittle. I even think the off white page 5 should have sold for 30k easy.

So good timing. They dont grow on trees and will keep rising in value with Complet action comics 1. 300k for an unerestored or heavily restored is the entry point
