I know from personal experience that David Arnold was someone I didn’t want to do comic business with .... I didn’t doubt it was real at the time and thought it was worth 105k then
Called him and didnt like his vibe and asked around some well known dealers and no one recommended him.
Cats out the bag. I though it was an easy 100k back then and 125k plus now.
A complete Action 1 is extremely Rare. Someone who owns one has the means to liquidate many other books, stocks or leverage cheap equity from real estate. As an investment its blue chip and has room to grow since its still in the affordable range. Its a complete coverless unrestored Action 1.Holy grail of the Hobby!
So people waiting for a covid deal better move on to an af15 coverless which are a dime a dozen

If the buyer already had a complete cover to marry, then I think a coverless copy could certainly go $100k-$125k. Otherwise, the best coverless copy is probably south of 100 and the worst (but complete) coverless copy maybe in the 60-80 range.
60k seems way to low for a beat up
complete copy at this point in time.

It sold for $82K. I thought it would break $100K.
I would and will pay more right now as mentionned many times before. 85k no ebay fees for a nice complete copy.
I didnt feel comfortable since he was not a well known dealer or boardie.

TEC 27 7.0 at 630k with 19 days to go...
Even if it stalls here... Ill be 63% right according to my math🤣

I was thinking 75-100 for 2/3 copy but it wud end up at the higher end I think when all was said and done. I’d love to have it as I know wud you
Yup. If 2-3 or more up bidding it up
The page 5 splash is a 30k page in auction so not hard to imagine the Front cover at multiples
Same here! We have similar tastes

No. I think it would sell for 100k as 2/3 of FC. No BC
75k to 100k imho Full front 125k 150k
Coverless 120-135k

I don’t disagree about the market not quite being there yet. What is so surprising, IMO, is that collectors/investors might pass on one of the best copies in existence before setting a new precedent.
There’s a reason why we don’t see this book surface in this grade. If it sells for under $1M, it could be held onto for a very long time, leaving underbidders to later pay $1M+ for a lower grade copy down the road.
Exactly just like the T206 Wagner. Its ot even Babe Ruth... Ask a 20 year old about Babe Ruth.. He’ll most likely know Bane or Poison Ivy but not Honus Wagner.
Started at 50k in early 2000s and now 1 million for a PSA graded 1.0
In 10-20 year a complete Action 1 Tec 27 could be even more...

You hit the nail on the head.
Us comic book collectors appreciate these grails, for many reasons, but I feel that our hobby has room to expand, and welcome collectors from other hobbies as well.
Comic books don’t just connect us to the characters, there is historical significance, there is significance in content (stories)—collecting GA books in particular checks both the rarity and art boxes.
I’ll keep saying it, because I feel the future will prove me right—we’ve only begun to scratch the surface.
This particular Tec #27 is a very big deal.
Yes. Indeed 100%

There are very few copies of Tec #27 in the world that are equal or superior to this one. We will all have a laugh years down the road about how we questioned whether it should or shouldn’t crack $1M.
This is one of the greatest artifacts in our entire hobby.
Well said Wayne Tec🙌🙌🙌

No I agree, if I were only missing the centerfold I’d likely drop around $20K to get it. Unfortunately not my scenario. I didn’t know Chicago had a more complete version than me so definitely incentive to spend more.
Yes. 20k if all you were missing is the front cover seems right on point.

I get a feeling that there is a bit of a psychological barrier when it comes to crossing over into seven figures.
IMO, the book is well worth it. But bidders want precedent. That only happens one way.
Just takes two to Tango. We shall see.
Great fun watching on the sidelines. If it doesnt reach 1million in auction it will when its resold privately or in auction.

Thanks yeah I’m not super far off. My perfect scenario would be to get pages 4, 29, 30 and 1 Batman page. That would be amazing! As far as the centerfold goes you offered $5K more than me lol. Like I said, they told me he wants $20K and there’s no way I’m paying that. I honestly would be right at your price point of $15K at my max, and I suspect at auction it might not even sell for that. So it’s gonna sit. I’d rather put my money towards a Batman page for $10K-$14K.
Well Its normal that you would
The CF is good for someone who needs it to complete his book: Everything except the CF.
I would go for the Bat pages first also
As for 15k and refusing it. Chicago boy has the back cover and just missing the cf and the front cover so makes sense for him to offer that and even a bit more.
20k is cheap i would buy it for 20k anyday if i was JUST missing the CF.
Ill be a bidder in auction and would bod more than 15k and hold on to it. Tec 27 is only going up in value so its piece of a missing puzzle of the Holy Grail alongside Ac1
I would hope he puts it up in auction

I don’t disagree and never said it would sell for $40K. I was just saying it would be awesome to get one. It was Zen who said a cover would sell for $40K ++++++++. I would think the condition of the cover would definitely play a role, but if we’re talking a beautiful complete or near complete cover, would likely be closer to $75K-$100K.
A full front cover in nice unrestored 100k

I meant if you had the front cover then the cf would be 40k in value since you could complete your Grail

Me to! 😂 They’re both tough and expensive to come by 😁
Well worth it. Also only 3 pages and not 7 like Action Comics 1... On the bright side😂
And Yes 20k CF would be great if you had all the Batman Pages 😉
40k+++ if you Had the front cover

The $10K offer was from me. Unfortunately he wants a lot more than that so not going to happen. The reason I offered $10K, and would maybe do as high as $14K -$15K is because I have an incomplete Tec 27. I don’t see the advantage of getting a centerfold for $20K considering I’m missing all the Batman pages. If I had the Batman pages then yes, I’d probably spend more to get this centerfold.
Very cool!!! hope u find the 3 batman pages!!!

The last centerfold was for sale on Comicconnect about 3-5 years ago for $17K, and you could throw out offers of course. I followed it closely and there was never any offers, eventually it was taken down. The owner of this one wants $20K. He very well may get it, but you’re right it would take someone who needs to complete their copy, because I have a tough time justifying the centerfold being worth much more than one of the Batman pages, and those go for $10K-$14K.
I would take it for 10k also wait and hold on it. He just needs the person that is missing a cf. As we all know its the part along with cover that is always missing.
Why would you buy it if you dont have a missing cf copy?

I think it can surprise us. 1 million plus perharps!!
Gonna keep my prediction 1!
If a T206 Honus Wagner psa 1 can sell for over a Million
If I had the choice I would buy a tec27 or ac1. As a collector and as an investment has great potential if looking at the growth of baseball cards.
Market is hot for collectibles🔥

No one is touching the Tec 27 CF at comic connect for 30k. High offer 10k. Great looking quality page too.
Action 1 CF sold for 39k with great PQ
The 10k is a steal. I would take it for 10kJust needs someone who needs a centerfold to complete his copy and voila 30k and more if the market on tec 27k keeps rising.
30k investment that will bring 70k -100k in extra value and completing a Tec 27 sounds good

Maybe it was 4 then, but I don't recall it being brittle.
Page 2 was the one u saw and it was tattered. Great pq off white though
Page 4 brittle never resold. I know since ive been following and sold page brittle;)
Would pick up in a NY minute for the price it sold for

I feel like it wasn't page 2 just from what I remember. The amount sounds correct though. I messaged him back and forth, and I save all my ebay messages through my gmail when they come, but of course I can't find these haha. Anyway, someone got a solid deal.
If those were the prices it was definitely Page 2.
Page 4 was a brittle and sold years prior like 3-4... For cheap before people realized pages were cool. aka like joker paged from Batman 1, Any page from ac1, tec27, etc

I can’t remember if it was this page, or maybe even this exact page that you ended up purchasing, but a Supes page sold on eBay a year or two ago for about $7K or $8K. The seller originally had it at like $10K, I messaged offering around $6K and he said he would lower the price $500 each day until someone bought it. Well, someone eventually bought it and wasn’t me lol. I still massively regret not getting that page. I feel like it was this page once again, but it could have been page 4, can’t remember. Anyway, I’m super jealous of yours 😁
Actually i think it was page 2 it had nice pq but a bit tattered. it sold a few months earlier for 9500$ at CC event auction and then the owner put it up on ebay. sold 6995$ I think he would have gotten alot more in an auction at comicconnect. Even more if he waited for longer than a few months.
