So, you recommend sending Jordan to PSA

If you're planning to sell, yes if you have the patience for it. I heard their turnaround times are a bit long now. If you're planning on keeping it, then that's a toss up. I have a soft spot for the old SGC and I like the black insert. I have a ton of old grade SGC cards that I'm planning to crossover to some company and I may wait to see what CGC's new company is going to be like. I'm a set builder and was planning to build some early 80's baseball sets with SGC grading. But the changes with the new grading scale ruined that.

And SGC... I am interested in if it is worth transferring the Jordan rookie to a PSA holder.   How does SGC currently rate against PSA and Beckett?

SGC is mainly for collectors and don't get anywhere near the $$$ that PSA and Beckett gets. SGC with the old grading scale go for even less. People don't want to pay the extra money to get them reholdered with the new grading scale or crossover  to another company.

What caused SGC's split from CCG (the parent company of CGC, NGC, etc.)?

I don't know. I think it was a huge mistake by SGC if they decided to leave. SGC's registry was so vanilla and if they used the Collector's Society registry, they would be in a much better position now than they are today.

Seems possible that SGC and CGC are "merging"... check out the SGC website:  https://sgclegacy.com/Splash

SGC was part of the CGC parent company years ago... not sure what happened.

Here's a 1999 press release mentioning SGC and CGC: https://press.aboutamazon.com/news-releases/news-release-details/amazoncom-auctions-and-certified-collectibles-group-announce

The link is from SGC's old site which teases SGC's relaunch from 2 years ago. SGC's relaunch was switching from the 10-100 to the 1-10 with two 10s grading scale and a new look. I was a SGC card submitter and that was not great in my opinion.
