  1. Some people target no. 1 issues, but for me, Planet no. 1 doesn't have a very exciting cover. No. 2 would probably makes it onto a top 15 list, but no. 1 wouldn't. My top 10 most coveted would have to be nos. 5, 13, 14, 15, 19, 22, 28, 33, 34, and 39. Nos. 14 & 15 are there because of their scarcity in high grade; the others are there because of the cover art.
  2. Woman in a green dress suspended by the wrists out of doors to woman in a green dress suspended by the wrists in a foundry.
  3. Comic books are nearing their Zenith as collectibles. The past price bumps from movies have been all about speculation, which in most cases hasn't panned out long term. It's something that happens to all hobbies that are tied to popular culture. What if popular culture never changed? Wouldn't that be kind of boring? I get a little sad knowing that the hobby will be on the wane in another decade or so, but if I'm honest with myself, it's really my own mortaltity that I'm lamenting. The world of my childhood is gone forever, and I'm at the age where I might well have more years behind me than ahead of me.
  4. Monte Hale Western was a Fawcett title; I don't see that one on the list.
  5. It would be a thrill to be able to see his collection in real life, wouldn't it?
  6. Shadow on the floor to shadow on the floor and wall.
  7. It's a cool book, but that price is shocking. I feel like I'm flying blind in every auction; I don't know how much anything will sell for.
  8. Pat, are you responsible for the graffiti on that cover? Lance Lewis, Space Detective, to Rod Hathway, Space Detective.
  9. But the auction doesn't just take place in Texas; it's worldwide due to the internet component. Maybe a live shill bidder can't be prosecuted, but anyone who puts in a shill bid electronically (i.e., online) can, as I understand it, be prosecuted under federal wire fraud laws. One guy got serious prison time for shill bidding on a (six-figure) baseball card.
  10. Everett graveyard cover to Everett graveyard cover.
  11. Blonde in a red dress to redhead in a yellow dress.
  12. At least the book was complete with no restoration and with decent pages. That's about all you can hope for when buying a GA book raw.
