  1. You've definitely educated me, @Moondog. Before I saw your books, I had never realized that some Ashcans had artwork that wasn't available elsewhere, like the Action #1, which is a fascinating book. (Other ashcans that I had seen pictures of typically had B&W artwork copied from an existing cover, and those are less interesting to me.) I would like to pick up a couple of ashcans one day, but since my budget is small and my want list is basically both volumes of Gerber, it may be a while.
  2. Photo cover of a bad guy with a mustache to photo cover of a good guy with a mustache.
  3. It's a great book, but I think that all Bronze is in a huge bubble. As many copies as there are in the census, there are many, many more raw copies out there.
  4. From what I remember the Atlas horror books all sold for very strong prices in that auction. Then in 2014 they all took a nosedive. Well, I haven't seen a comparable copy for sale since then, and it's one of my favorite Atlas covers, so I don't regret the purchase, but I doubt it would sell for any more than that if I were to auction it off today whereas other books I could have gone after have gotten much more expensive.
  5. I'm not a big fan of "manning up." If I can't get something for a good price, then I don't want it. I did "man up" and pay for this book on CLink back in 2013, though. I paid much more than I thought I'd have to. (I think you had some books in that auction, @goldust40, but I don't know whether this was one of them.)
  6. The movie may be very good, but Elvis was supposedly a natural blond until he started dying his hair black as a teenager.
  7. You're giving me nightmares, @lou_fine. I don't want to read about naked anything in a thread about getting a piece of Batman. That's your bailiwick (and maybe Robin's depending on whom you ask).
  8. It's a nice book, but a book should not be awarded a grade of 9.9 unless the pages are white. 9.9 is supposed to be considered "mint." How can a book be "mint" if the pages have deteriorated?
  9. Oftentimes the outer cover is lower grade than the inner cover, so the book doesn't look as nice as an ordinary single cover book in the same grade (especially sitting in a slab where you never get to see the inner cover).
  10. Where have you been? Alan Scott doesn't dig women. Original Green Lantern Alan Scott Confirmed As Gay By DC Comics “I’m gay,” Scott bluntly reveals to his children. “I let a few of the boys in the society know back in the day, and I’ve had a good deal of…friends over the years.”
  11. I don't understand why CGC is using scuffed inner wells. I would expect a company to provide free re-holdering for anything with a scuffed inner well regardless of when the book was slabbed. I received this book back from CGC with a scuffed inner well and scratches on the outer well, and it took some doing to get them to provide a free re-holdering, but they finally did it. The issue was whether I contacted them quickly enough; I think that their deadline was 14 days, which is fairly ridiculous. I'm often too busy to go through a shipment carefully in that amount of time. Even if a book was slabbed 20 years ago, I would still expect them to correct an obvious manufacturing defect on their own dime.
