  1. These are the two I purchased: I think that the Bomber 3 is an underrated cover. The American solider puppet decking the Japanese soldier puppet makes it a WWII cover, and the death figure (which is not a puppet!) makes it a horror cover. I see the cover as a metaphor: soldiers are puppets controlled by powerful, indifferent forces. It isn't a cover that can be taken in at a glance, so I don't think that it will ever take off; the market seems to value simplicity. Even though I like the cover, I paid a heavy penalty due to the fact that it is the highest-graded copy right now. I would have been happy with a non-pedigree 8.0, but I couldn't find one.
  2. I don't think it's just a "wait." I don't believe that many of the buyers will ever break even if the prices are adjusted for inflation. I've purchased two Promise books so far; I don't plan to sell, but I wouldn't expect to break if I were forced to sell. Two is enough for me; I don't plan to go after a third unless one of my grails pops up and isn't too overgraded. (There are plenty of books that I like from '44 through '50, but virtually all of my true grails are from earlier dates.)
  3. Al Camy cover with bad guy entering from below to Al Gabriele cover with good guy entering from above.
  4. I guess collectors don't like to admit that they've been had?
  5. Tax returns? Like Leona Helmsley averred, "Only the little people pay taxes."
  6. Unusual designation of CREAM pages to not-so-unusual designation of CREAM-TO-OFF-WHITE pages.
  7. I have a sealed Dean Martin 8-track tape that I'd be willing to part with for $2 million plus shipping.
  8. These books were both purchased raw from Comic Connect. The CMA was advertised as a 9.0, and the AITU was advertised as a 6.5. I sent back a Superior horror book that had obviously been overgraded even worse.
  9. I agreed with your post even before I noticed the k next to the $1.
  10. Alliterative Woozy Winks to alliterative Poor Pierre.
  11. I didn't know the story, but I just read that he beat a prostitute to death and was only sentenced to three years!
  12. Well, he's drunk in the one I posted. You can tell from his red nose.
  13. I wish the Denver copies had nicer pages. Are there any white-paged Denver's?
