  4. Tell me about it...I bid $20K on it, and if you take a look at the scan of the back cover that CLINK provided, you will see a small corner crease at the top left. Definitely not a 'true' 9.8 ASM 300 is the most submitted/graded book in CGC's history. There's a lot of direct 9.8's, but I've only seen a handful newsstand 9.8's sell, and this is a book I've been following for years. The value of Todd's signature added maybe $500 - $750 to the final sale price. The craziness was mostly attributed to the scarcity of the newsstand version in this grade

  6. Its a great Jusko tirbute to Ditko, and you are absolutely the only person in the world who owns it, but (and you knew it was coming) more collectors would rather have the AF15. Sad, but true.
  7. The 35 cent price variants were the bees knees not too long ago, but collectors have shifted their focus instead to Newsstand comics from the mid 80s-mid 90's, give or take a year or two. Good examples of the ever-growing price discrepancy between direct vs newsstand copies include ASM 194, 210, 238, 252, 298, 299, 300 (huge price differentials), 361, 365, and ann 16. Hulk 340, Spawn 1, Thor 337, xmen 129, and many other examples illustrate this more recent development of collecting focus. I won't even start on Canadian Price Variants since those are a separate discussion.
  8. I say this tongue-in-cheek...it's not them, its us. OA collectors are slow on the uptick (with a few exceptions) and we have ourselves to blame. Comic guys are after 1st appearances and keys, and they pounce as soon as there's even a rumor about a character being optioned for a TV show or movie. How do OA collectors react? Well, they react very, very slowly by comparison and perhaps in a year or two the OA guys will start to collectively move on the characters' 1st appearance or OA containing subsequent appearances by that character. I don't want to generalize, but this seems to be the well-established pattern of OA collectors over the 20 years I've collected OA.
  9. That corner crease was a major reason as to why I’m glad that I didn’t win
  10. Most recent 7.0 direct sale = 600 in May. most recent 7.0 newsstand sale = 640 in April
  11. Ankur, those ‘big books’ have increased by multiples, but others examples have increased by even greater multiples. Many ASM bronze and copper age such as asm 210, 252, 299, annual 16, Hulk 340, Thor 337, and xmen 129 immediately come to mind. fyi, last year I was purchasing asm 129 cgc 9.8 white pages for $11.5-$12.5K each. yesterday, clink auctioned the Mass pedigree copy for $55.1K. Prior to that sale, both clink and HA have sold 9.8’s for $33K. At these price points, I’d rather buy a decent Bronze Age Spidey cover!
  12. Comics.gpanalysis.com they capture eBay and HA comic sales, but not clink or other sites
  13. I bid on a 9.8 signed by stan, Todd, and David. I don’t think it was a newsstand
  14. That’s what I’ve been telling Buzzeta here…white pages, no matter if you can see them on a slabbed book, command a premium. The higher the grade, the greater the premium
  15. No, I’m thinking about putting my funds into original comic art, where prices ‘only’ doubled or tripled this past year
  16. We didn’t see them come out last year after the $15K sale, but I hope you’re right!
  17. Looking at gpa sales and extrapolating. As I said, I THINK there’s 5 copies of newsstand in 9.8. Would love to know if anyone has more info
  18. its scarcity in 9.8 more than anything. There are 10 ASM 300's in 9.9, and I think there's less than five newsstands in 9.8, three of which are Sig Series. Previously, I could give a ratz@$$ about newsstand vs direct and I'd refuse to pay a penny more for them...until I came to the realization that 9.8's are scarcer than 9.9's.
