  3. After reading about more horror story dealings with Showcase New England, I wonder who's the bigger crook: Daniel G from Showcase or Gerry Ross?
  4. Made a purchase from Showcase Ne England once. Book was sold to me as NM+. Finally decided to get it graded by CGC after owning the book for 20+ years. book came back 7.5 with colour touch
  5. The funny thing with a lot of OA collectors is they feel the % price increases over this past year are significant, and they are when compared to previous years within this segment of the hobby. However, those who still collect back issue comics, especially slabbed books, will tell you that the OA % increases are paltry in comparison. I don't want to list examples, but there are numerous books that have tripled and quadrupled in price over the past year. And don't even get started on sports cards, Pokemon, etc. By comparison, OA collectors should feel very fortunate that % price increases have 'only' doubled this past year. Let the counterarguments begin!
  6. I've responded to Spiderman being more recognized worldwide than Superman. You're taking about presence, which is a different matter. And if you think that I am very young, then I happily accept your compliment.
  7. Same stuff was said in 2012, when we saw record breaking prices on the McSpidey covers and other artwork. It was the high-water mark year for prices for a while, but we're definitely in another price boom now.

  9. I would say that Spiderman is more recognized worldwide than Superman. And yes, Action 1 is the most expensive key, most assuredly for historical purposes as Superman launched the Golden Age/superhero age of comics, but I would give the nod to AF 15 as the most in-demand superhero key. and again, I stand by my initial statement that Superman is your grandfather’s Superhero.
  10. Batman is all-ages cool. Superman is kinda like your grandfather's Pontiac...old and outdated
  11. Just to add a bit more information to this discussion, the original cover art for GL 76 sold at auction for $442K in 2015, you know, back when all of the hype about owning a GL 76 in high grade was going on. Numerous Original art ‘experts’ thought it would easily crack $500K (that’s $600K if you include the buyers premium), all because it was such a ‘classic cover, start of the Bronze Age, brought social relevance to mainstream comics, blah blah blah’. In the end, it was just a lot of hot air, as evidenced by its bid price. By comparison, the cover to Batman 251 had a lot of things going against it, according to the original art experts. There was mention of the wonky rendering of the Joker’s leg, it was missing the bottom caption paste up, the image of Batman was quite small...no way it would sell for more than the GL 76 cover, right??? we’ll surprise, surprise, it did. It sold in 2019 via the same auction house as the GL 76 cover, and it sold for $600K.
  12. This has already been listed for several weeks and the owner came onto this thread to indicate its merely a fishing expedition
  13. Wally Wood Weird Science 22 cover sold for $90K in 2018. his cover to Weird Science 15 sold for $72K back in 2013.
  14. That’s why people in Texas have their names engraved on their belt buckles!
  15. Micah, whatever happened to the ASM 129 cover that was supposed to be up for auction previously????
