  1. At first glance, the 9.0 seems to be the superior copy with white pages vs the 9.4’s ow/w pages. Additionally, the spine centering is so much nicer on the 9.0 copy

  4. The high bid on Heritage was $28K. Heritage adds a 20% buyer's premium on top of the high bid. Hence, $28K + 20% of $28K ($5,600) = $33.6K final price. On top of the $33.6K final price, the buyer will also have to pay sales tax and shipping & insurance, which can add up to quite a bit on this book. Hope this helps.
  5. You think $33.6K sale for the HA copy is shocking, then just wait for the Clink 9.8 Mass pedigree sale!
  6. Yeah, but after the 33.6K sale, another ASM 129 cgc 9.8 white pages sold for 'only' $28K
  7. I didn’t think about Joaquin Phoenix. I thought about Nicholson, Ledger, and Cesar Romero
  8. 301 is noted as a classic cover in overstreet, but 50, 100, 121, 129, and 300 are not. it makes no sense whatsoever to me, until you realize that a major dealer (and Sr Overstreet advisor) in the comics market personally owns the original cover art to ASM 301. The other ASM covers that I noted are significantly more ‘classic’ than the 301 so I can only speculate that there was some influence in identifying ASM 301 as a ‘classic’ cover.
  9. I can't seem to find it on ebay or Heritage completed sales. Not surprisingly, news of this sale has resulted in immediate higher priced offerings on ebay.
  10. More great art was added recently, including the following items: Keown Hulk The End cover. Full disclosure --> i was the original owner and held onto this piece for approximately 15 years. The artwork and story for this one-shot were very special to me, and it must have been for many others, too, because the cover has been reprinted numerous times, in various languages. Alas, nothing is forever, and I needed to sell it to raise funds for something else. BWS Conan #2 cover. So, we've seen a few early Conan's change hands publicly over the past 4-5 years, and here's another opportunity for someone to add a nice cover to their Barbaric collection. This one has the 'B-trifeca' going for it: Babe, Brute, and Barbarian! Jim Lee Ghost Rider 26 cover, X-Men crossover. Its counterpart cover sold recently for $72K, will this one perform as well? Byrne FF 250 pinup. When FF 250 was released, I think it fooled a lot of folks into buying the issue because it was the 1st time Byrne illustrated the X-Men since he left the title. Needless to say, a lot of folks were surprised to find out that it wasn't the X-men. I'll just leave it at that, in case someone on this thread hasn't yet read FF 250. So, long story short, a lot of folks saw this FF pinup and I'm certain there's a lot of nostalgia towards it. Alex Schomburg Overstreet Price Guide #10 cover - A fantastic cover from the beloved cover artist of the Golden Age. Schomburg covers command a premium against surrounding issues without his work, and I think this one will fetch a hefty sum. Did Schomburg paint many more superhero covers after this one? I think this was one of his last, right? Gil Kane Thor 239 cover. Powerful image of Thor, front and center on this great cover which also features Ulik, Odin, Dr. Donald Blake and Jane Foster. M Severin/S Buscema Sub-Mariner #25 cover. A fair amount of Subby covers have traded hands over the past few years, but I don't recall seeing this one before. Its a great example, illustrated by two fine artists and should god for well above my pay grade! The auction hasn't started, but I'm already reserving my jealousy for whomever wins this beauty. Bizley Lobo's Back #2 cover (hidden richard cover). Ah, the fun my friends and I had trying to find the hidden johnson on this cover, once we found out about it from our LCS owner. Even more fun than trying to find the hidden spider that McFarlane planted on his Spidey covers
  11. SME 15 is not a book that’s on my watch list , hence It wasn’t included in my previous response
  12. For books that I'm watching, ASM 238 has slowed and actually dropped quite a bit from its peak 4-5 weeks ago. The other books that I'm tracking are still in high demand at ever-increasing prices: ASM 121, 129, 194, 195, 210, 252, 298, 299, 300, 326, 365, Ann 16 Hulk 340 Thor 337
  13. Speaking of Beavers...pre-cerebus Dave Sim Beavers @ Heritage... Dave Sim and Gene Day The Beavers Daily Comic Strip Original Art | LotID #53005 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) Dave Sim and Gene Day The Beavers Daily Comic Strip Original Art | LotID #53004 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com)
  14. Hi, folks: All lots noted in my original post above are ending today. Everything's still very affordable and well below market prices. Good luck to all bidders!
  15. notice the ' ' around the word costume in my posting?
  16. 300 in 9.8 is going nuts again. As I mentioned previously in this thread, time to buy some sharp looking 9.6's that have a shot of being re-graded as 9.8's. Then again, I see the 9.6's are experiencing an uptick again. What's a fella to do?
  17. Once Roger Stern took over writing chores on ASM, the title kept improving. I felt he had a good understanding of Peter, the supporting cast, and what makes Spiderman tick. I enjoyed his stories with the Black Cat, Juggernaut, Jekyll & Hyde, Tarantula (what a horrible, gruesome transformation & death) and of course, ASM 238 featuring the Intro of the Hobgoblin. It was a big deal. Readers couldn't get enough of the character and Roger did an incredible job by teasing us with a cameo appearance here and there, using decoys in a Hobby costume, etc. all to keep us guessing Hobby's true identity. The excitement around the character and anticipation of the revel grew with each appearance, and Hobby was a significant character in the Spidey mythos for several years. By comparison, when ASM 252 was released, it was a WTF moment, as in 'they changed his $%^$ costume? WTF?'. It was only later revealed the main reason for doing so was to generate another Spidey toy. Besides, it was just a 'costume', until ASM 258, when Reed Richards revealed that it was a symbiote. So, my choice is ASM 238, by a mile.
