  1. So, 9K Canadian is equivalent to 7K US. Of course the dealer turned it down you are way below GPA. The dealer would have to be nuts to accept you offer
  2. Still some more nice looking pages to bid on today. Hopefully, they won't go ballistic during 'live bidding' this afternoon
  3. There are many artists like this. Sienkiewicz immediately comes to mind, even when he's inking over another penciller, there is no mistaking its Sienkiwicz.
  4. I don't think I ever hated Kirby, but I have gone out of my way to avoid purchasing/reading books that he illustrated because I find his artwork crude and blocky. Nothing has changed my mind in the 40 years I've been collecting comics. However, while I am unable to appreciate his artwork, I do appreciate his contributions to Marvel, DC, and the comics industry in general. In the past, there has been other artists whose work I didn't 'get' only to appreciate later on. Artists such as Sal Buscema, Mike Kaluta, Kelley Jones, Don Rosa, and Sam Kieth to name but a few. Given Kirby's breadth of work, I wish an epiphany can somehow click on, light a lightbulb for my eyes so that I can 'get' Kirby art and read all of the stories I've yet to read because of his artwork. But he's not the only artist I still don't 'get'. I've tried for so long to appreciate Toth, Schulz, and a host of others, to no avail...yet.
  5. So overall it was a good auction for me. I won 3 of the 4 pieces I was after. I was the underbidder on the McHulk cover and I was chasing for nearly 20 years, dating back to when it was on Brian Copella’s website. It’s my white whale! i should have gone higher, and I certainly could have done so, but there was a latter lot that I also had to get. it was a fun way to spend the afternoon 👍🏻
  6. Wow, not at all what I expected based on previous sales
  7. Get ready for the Mazz DD page to take off...
  8. Many more Biz Lobo pieces in the upcoming HA auction, including another cover. Perhaps the sudden availability of upcoming pages tempered the result of this splash.
  9. Cockrum Xmen 154 page was very strong at $16.8K
  10. The female auctioneer had a few too many coffees.
  11. Byrne Wolvie cover didn't increase a cent during live bidding. Wow!
  12. Had it pegged at $20K so it was a bit surprising.
  13. Who's this 'John' fella the auctioneer continually references?
  14. Byrne FF DD splash sold for $25K
  15. Whether Marvel or Disney or whomever makes an amazing Venom movie isn't the most significant catalyst for price increases on this book. Aside from TMNT, Venom is the most significant character introduced in the Copper Age, and folks have slowly but surely been coming to that conclusion over the past few years. Other folks are slower, and it will take them longer to get there, but rest assured, Venom is to the mainstream Copper Age what Wolverine is to the mainstream Bronze Age and this alone will ensure the book continues to go up in value.
  16. Nice. I should take the time to do a group pic once all of my books are returned.
  17. Yup, will let you know after the auction
  18. Hi, folks; I've consigned a few McFarlane CGC Signature Series ASM's on Heritage, with auctions ending Sunday, April 4th. Currently, the books are an incredible steal, well below anything resembling fair market value. Here's a link to the books: ASM 298 --> The Amazing Spider-Man #298 Signature Series: Todd McFarlane, Bob | Lot #11047 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) ASM 300 --> The Amazing Spider-Man #300 Signature Series: Todd McFarlane and | Lot #11049 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) Thanks for looking!
  19. Really? We must be looking at different lots. I'm tracking over 200 lots and most of them barely moved since yesterday. Some items will need to quadruple or even quintuple to hit FMV today and tomorrow.
  20. Let's approach this in another way, shall we? Print run was high for this book and there's no denying it. ASM 300 has the most # of copies slabbled by CGC and there's no denying it. However, I do not believe supply is high for 9.6's and 9.8's. Many people are hanging onto their copies (in many instances, they have multiple copies) for whatever reason. The reasons for hanging onto this book are numerous, but regardless of the reason, that supply of books is held back from the marketplace. Now, when you add ever-increasing demand for the book, the result is the current volatility for this book, which I expect to continue to the second Venom movie and beyond.
